It is a sad day in the gaming industry, once again, and I am writing as both a whistleblower and a pissed off indie developer.

An anonymous source (feel free to identify yourself!) has tipped me off that Hero's Realm has been stolen and posted and claimed as their own. The offender's website is here:

I am not foolish. There are tons of RPG games out on the market and a lot borrow ideas from each other, but this is no coincidence!

I was being a tad facetious here, and mocking a bit of the whole Roam/505games thing

Anywho, the attempt is so feeble it's comical. I am not very concerned about my own game (it's 4 years old and non-commercial anyway (plus, the rips and whatnot that I am using)), but there are also attempts to steal Homework Salesman and Reincarnation. That is genuinely upsetting! There doesn't seem to be any place to report this or appeal, so I am not sure what to do except shrug my shoulders. (I suppose I should feel flattered? I'm good enough to steal from!)

"HotTorch" games. Lol. The site is a free-to-build website hosted by Wix.com and Wix has a "contact-us" page. I'm sure the game developers can get in touch with Wix directly and claim ownership of their work. Especially works that use resources made by/for the developers themselves, such as Homework Salesman and Reincarnation. (I think?)

people taking others peoples hard work and calling it their own is seriously offensive
it does not matter to me how long ago it came out! they need to give credit to the real developers and not pretend they are!

or maybe im a bad person for having morals!

I was the one who stumbled upon it and thought to inform all the others involved. These games were labors of hard work.

The culprit also had the thoughtlessness to post upon their facebook page: "15 developers working for Bruk-Rookies ! Thank you GUYS"

Wow, fuck those guys. It's such a blatant theft, no attempt at all to cover it up. Admittedly though I use Hero's Realm when thinking up names for games in Game Dev Tycoon/Story haha.

If they copy one of our games. They will be sued for copyright infringement.
We take our product, trademark and copyright very seriously While keeping it balance with human freedom (allowing to make a let's play video, review, etc...)

What a joke. And they even have Reincarnation ~ Dawn Of War ~ and Homework Salesman on there too! That’s just not right.

I seriously hope that entire site gets shut down, I really do.

Is it really worth sueing someone over a free indie game? Unless there's an EASY button that smites them instantly. It would require time, effort, and I would assume money.
