Do not expect too much. This is not a game.
It's more of a discussion on theories and multiverses. In fact, you can just play this online (scroll down for link) instead of downloading it, but you'll just miss out on one or two little things.

Plot?
Does every choice you make drastically affect the world? (maybe) Can you throw a watermelon from a table if there’s only apples in the fruit bowl? (probably not) Will eating a banana cause you to die at age 15? (hopefully, no)
Ponderings of Time tries to explain what time is, discusses some of the more interesting theories of time, and attempts to tie it all back together to relate to visual novels.

Why is this game here?
I've cleaned the project up, did a few edits, and then resubmitted it to this site for permanent storage. Some of the older sites and dropbox links may go down, so this is a backup copy.

Download the new version here or play the older version online (ported courtesy of Alte on Lemmasoft-- thank you very much!)

I'm not quite sure that I understand xD
If you wish to contact cashmerecat, shoot her a PM?
i'm sure he would be thrilled by this game (as I am too but i'm not in the mood to play anything other than the chords of my sadness atm) and i'm also sure he'll be seeing this gamepage soon XD

I played this game. My thoughts were:

  • Of course it was very linear.

  • Of course it mentioned a lot of things about time.

  • It was well-written but I don't think I learned that much.

  • Being completely linear was a point about time but even still I usually play games for their non-linearity otherwise I'd read a book.

  • But at least it's a visual novel so that excuses it somewhat. Except it's not much of a visual novel if there's only one image for the entire thing. It could have easily just as well served as a thread on the forums.

  • However I didn't completely hate it, it wasn't a waste of my "time", and I was glad to have played it because it was short yet interesting.

In short, it'd be cool if more games like this were to be made, but I just would want something a little more complex than this. Maybe some time-related mechanics or puzzles or so on to keep things interesting and engaging.

Though a puzzle would be out of place in this (I hesitate to call 'game') discussion on theory, your comment just gave me an idea. Maybe I could add demonstrations to this (instead of discussing the multiverses, show the player an example of branching choices looping back, merging into one timestream). That could help with engagement.
I'll probably consider adding that kind of stuff after Oct 31st as I'm currently still busy with the Non-RM event. Thanks for playing reading!

I was thinking more about experiments with time, like, if you could, creating a timer that you can base certain events from and use practical applications of your discussion about time to make it more engaging than standard text. Even displaying a ticking clock and saying "This is time. It moves linearly etc. Etc." And then manipulating these demonstrations in interactive ways that make your points clearer. Basically something that would differentiate this experience from something that could be simply written as an article.
