LIVENEL - Nocturnal Skyrift Demo v1.08 is now available~
It's a finalized demo with 4-5 hours of gameplay & major update.

CHANGELOGS

Story & Missions

+ Added Boss Battle near the end of Chapter 1.
+ Fixed Chapter 1 Ending Scene.
+ Corrected some dialogues for Main Mission.

Gameplay & Battle Mechanics

+ Added new Boss Enemy, Maegarf Thal.
+ Added new Mantra and Enemy Skill.
+ Added more weapon components in the vending machine.
+ Fixed the distance between rows.

Game UI & HUD

+ Corrected the menu order when the player press ESC to quit.
+ Fixed all issues related to cursor speed and "evented" button.
+ Fixed the event collision in Mission Menu and Enemy Data.

Visual

+ Fixed the Lighting Effects in some areas.
+ Fixed wrong images & tilesets in Falreon maps and TEC Hub.
+ Fixed the blood stain images in Dyna Base.

+ Resized characters spritesheet for Drache & Lucain.

+ Removed TEC Phone & Hyperion Termina shortcut while controlling Velia.
+ Fixed an issue where player will go to wrong map after using TEC phone.
+ Fixed an issue where player will go to wrong map after using Hyperion Termina.
+ Fixed an issue where the BGM didn't play correctly in Dyna Base.
+ Fixed an issue where Lucain gives wrong elmsphere to Reynard.
+ Fixed all wrong images in Enemy Data.
+ Fixed some other minor issues related to Hyperion Termina

FUTURE PLANS

CHAPTER 1 GOALS :

Maegarf will become the main character in this game, so I'll give him more
screentime. New Characters; Wheelman Zero and Claus will appear soon.
Claus is the third character in Lucain's party, and Zero is the second
character in Velia's party. On top of that, you can choose and play all
three party leaders from the beginning. Currrently, I'm still writing more
backstory for all characters.

For the gameplay, I'll add extra effect and new damage formula to make all
mantras feel unique. And of course, more VT Abilities that could change ally
and enemy's row. At least, 10 Side Missions can be accessed in Chapter 1 and
there will be 33 enemies in the same chapter. And last, 2 new vehicles will
be added, one in Vargrad, one in Cloud Haven Forest.

How long does it take me to finish the Chapter 1? I think it's half a year or so.

Thoughts


I've finally finished the ep.1, the game ended faster than I thought it would. Yes, it provides one hell of a view, -pleasing to the eye. And I’ve spent countless hours in the menu, but the fights and anything else were felt bland. So, this was really mixed feeling for me as too many in-game features kept me from fully enjoying this game. Of course, depending on who is playing it, there are might be different reactions.


Ideas


You can add more subplots to your story to help further flesh out the world you build. For example, make that terra aircraft fall from the sky. Thus, your character actually get a chance to venture into the new places to get a sense of how the other side lives. I particularly would love my character sneaking around the enemy hideouts and or let him blend in and befriend them.


Lastly, I have a few questions related to ep.1.


Q1 Where can I find long-range magic sphere or a diagram to craft it?
Q2 Can I unlock the twin gate in dyna base? What's inside? And the cave in the first area too. I know it's the game demo, but at least let the players know if it's locked or inaccessible at the moment.
Q3 How to control the speed of the aircraft? Is there a way to land faster to its destination?


Conclusion


The game is certainly not perfect. While the fundamental aspects, some scenes and new additions make it worth reexploring the entire episode, there are some game features that feel unnecessary. The first areas make the game can be frustratingly soft-locked and I don't like the fact that too many characters that serve as -information flyer-. It’s beautiful and confusing at the same time. Overall Score 6.5/10. Hope this review can help you improving the game.
