Disclaimer: This game is very challenging and requires a lot of attention to detail, strategic game play, and character equipment/skill management to succeed!

Current Version: Final Release v1.1.2

Synopsis
The genocide of the magi has begun. The Empire has spread it's reign around the globe. Why now though? After all these centuries of peace, why would the Empire want to eradicate the magi from existence? Is it truly out of fear for the powers that magi can posses, or is it something far more sinister...?

Gameplay
Eternal Twilight is an old-school styled fantasy RPG with a Turn-Based battle system. I have made much use of the plethora of amazing scripts that Yanfly has created for the MV system to bring a battle system that is familiar, yet original in its own right. I am a firm believer of quality over quantity when it comes to designing a battle system and the types of skills a player has at their disposal. The battle system in Eternal Twilight features the following:

  • Unique weapon/armor system, where enemy drops will "randomly select" a rarity for the item dropped, granting bonus stats to that item! Legendary Bronze Sword anyone? YES PLEASE!
  • Intelligent enemy AI that will keep the player on their toes. The AI will respond according to the player's actions to make sure "LOL-SPAM ATTACK" will lead to the players demise.
  • Five unique character classes, each with a vastly different play style than the last!
  • Skills come in all shapes and sizes, ranging from Instant cast spells that don't consume the character's turns, to very powerful attacks, buffs, and heals that have cooldowns, making sure the player strategically chooses when to use certain abilities.
  • This and much more!

Eternal Twilight v1.1.2 is LIVE!

Hey everyone! Long time no talk! Just chiming in to say that I have uploaded Eternal Twilight v1.1.2, which just addresses some balancing/difficulty. Okay byeeeee~~~~ :D

=== General Balance Changes ===
* Non-Boss enemies have had their MaxHP reduced by about 5-10% across the board.
* EXP gained from all non-boss enemies has been increased by +5% and all bosses now reward +%10 more EXP when defeated.
* The DEFENSE stat has been slightly buffed, reducing enemy damage by about 5% more than before.
* Soul Trigger has been buffed: Stat boost increased from +15% to +20%, MP Cost reduction increased from 10% to 20% reduction, and TP regain increased from +5% to +10% per turn.

=== Character Changes ===
Luna:
* Barrage and Raining Arrows damage increased by 5%

Damien:
* Holy Fire damage increased by 10%
* Smite damage increased by 5%

Trish:
* Wind Chi damage increased by 5%
* Gaian Tide damage increased by 10%

Ryudo:
* Wound and Body Slam damage increased by 10%
* Shadow Strike and Obliterate damage increased by 5%

Dev Notes: Some of you may be wondering: "Why make the game easier now?" Well, I take great pride in the difficulty and balance of Eternal Twilight, but I also know that the difficulty can and is turning away a good amount of players. To make the game more approachable for the more casual player, I decided to tone down the difficulty a bit. I put in so much time, love, and effort into my game, and as a dev, I WANT people to play it. If making the game slightly easier gets more people to play the game, then that's the price to pay! Ferny... over and out! :D

@kenlan - Which version of the game are you running?
I`m running 1.0.7.
When i don`t use flamin and poison-chi and alot of other damage by time spells, it works fine. But now i die because they`re tough. :).Great battles .
EDIT:I`m trying to give Luna aqua-chi but she doesn`t gains any TP?Some stat maybe.
I`m going to try it on some one else to see.I`m trying the Mios/Dios again because maybe the error message doesn`t shows up always.I don`t know.
You have completed a great game. Congrats.Good job.
@kenlan - That is odd, I could've sworn I fixed that error...I'm sorry that it's bugging out on you. I'll have to take a closer look at it when I get the chance.

As for Aqua Chi, it doesn't give TP, it only gives MP (and some HP when it gets upgraded).

Also, thank you for the compliment, I'm glad you're finding the boss battles to be good, I tried my best to make them engaging! ^_^
Out of curiosity.... has anyone been able to beat the game in hard mode? I been attempting the game in hard mode and at the third blood boss. I am close to the point where that the ultima spell is overpowered as even while "defending" at lv 17, it will kill your party member.....

If you are going to tell me to reduce the difficulty, then what is the point at making a mode that is almost impossible to beat?

I do. I beat the game in hard mode. Check this for more details on that and what I used to beat them. Though you might be reading an essay for it.

Wow, what were your character levels in your video for the third blood battle boss? (I'm at lv 19 and going to try again).

The biggest problem in the battle is there is no clear warning on when the ultima spell will be casted.

Unfortunately, I was at max level (lv. 30) when facing them. Meaning I have the luxury of better equipment and accessories.

As I recall, a red spiral will appear to one of the enemies before Dark Ultima appears. And if you don't guard or set up lots of defensive shields during this time. It will likely knock you out. But I agree that because the mechanics were only warned once during the first fight that has Ultima (Namely Minerva), people likely won't remember the timing needed to avoid it nor the indication was very clear since you might forget it.
The game is great so far, but having only three save slots is nervewracking.
@matski - Although BerryRMN was level 30 at the end of the game, it is doable in the 20's range. Another streamer, by the name of TARELTHER, was able to beat the game at around level 22-ish on hard mode.

Leveling up is only going to give you marginal increases in overall power. At this point in the game, especially on hard mode, you need to be decked out in Red/Yellow quality gear, have your "Unleashed Potential" as high as possible, AND you have to play mechanically near-flawless to succeed.

I'll be releasing official "Boss Guide" videos soon. Best of luck to you in the meantime!
@Bugfragged - I'm glad you think so! ^_^

Don't be nerve wrecked! I had to limit the number of saves to avoid CRAAAAAAAAZY long save/load times...which is already a problem, sadly enough. :/

The loot system in the game artificially "bloats" save file sizes because every single piece of gear that drops is saved in the game file's database. Sadly, it's
one of the downfalls of the plugins I had to use to create the loot system.

I am making progress in hard (look like hell mode now). I just liberated the casino city @ lv 29. Here are some observations/bugs:

- Trish's Wind chill will display a cooldown at times when I use Mastery/Tantra Magic. It usually stops after one round.
- Many times, the boss Amalgamation's hp either wouldn't display, or display 1. I was concerned that this boss battle wouldn't be beatable but eventually the text said that the boss has no more hp to sacrifice.
- Dios & Mios battle seemed weird. There was a move that caused a "bomb" icon over my character. It exploded many times when I used purify. It seems that the boss uses this move at a random time. Unsure if it was intentional or not but it felt weird.
- During the liberation of the casino town, the solders seems pathetic in the damage they did to my characters. I can say the same in the mountain path to Treno. It took several turns to beat them due to the HP being so high. I'm temped to suggest to decrease their hp, but increase their attack power.

Hopefully I'll be able to beat this game in hard. I'm going to use v. 1.07 since it seem all that was added was better buffs for 1.08.
@matsaki - Thanks for the feedback and bug reports!

The Amalgamation's HP going down to 1 is definitely a bug I'm still trying to smash. He is SUPPOSED to be immune to all damage over time damage (he can still get the debuff itself though), but there seems to be one or two that still deal damage to him somehow. This is what I believe is reducing his HP to "0" causing his HP bar to disappear. He doesn't outright die though because he has an "immortal" state that gets removed in the last phase of the fight.

The bombs in Dios and Mios are part of one of their "hp threshold" attacks. When Dios reaches 70% and 30% he will put the bomb debuff on the whole party. The purpose there is to try to dispel the bombs one by one so that you can heal up in between the damage they deal.

I could definitely do something like that for the guards in Piatro City, I've slowly been reducing HP of enemy mobs and slightly increasing their HP throughout the game to make them faster to kill, but also making them a tiny bit more dangerous.
I encountered a game breaking bug in the two blood mage battle in volcano. I killed the top one first. The bottom looked like he was going to re-spawn him but a syntax error occurred, unexpected token u. Note: I am playing 1.07. I doubt that this was fixed in 1.08a.

I just now had the same problem with the boss of the volcano (after defeating the blood mages). His HP was around 40,000 when the syntax error occurred.....
@matski - boooooo, I thought I fixed those damn bugs! :/

I just have a few questions for you to help me try to figure out why or how this happened.

#1: Did you wipe to either of these bosses and then retried the boss?

#2: Do you happen to remember when the boss crashed that you said was st 40k? Was it the bloody Amalgamation boss or what's her face that got turned into a monster?

#1. I killed the top blood mage first before the 2nd de-buff took effect. The bottom one was in the process of reviving when it crashed. I did re-try the boss and beat them by killing both of them at the same time to avoid the bug. (I did some AP grinding).

#2. It was the empire queen that was turned into a monster by a blood mage.

I did overpower my archer by equipping the 40% stats and 20% stat increase item. I'm wondering since I am able to knock ~ 10,000 hp off at times, I am skipping some scenes/debuff that is suppose to happen?
@matski - I am about 99% certain that it was my use of "FORCED ACTIONS" to do the enemy revivals that caused those crashes. In fact, both the Empress and the double blood mage fight used the exact same forced action. I have gone ahead and removed the forced action spell and just handled the revival mechanic differently, that doesn't require the use of forced action.

That *SHOULD* fix the issue. I'm going to address a few other small bugs before I push this update though. Thank you so much for the report! :)

Before you update, the blobs are not dying at times when they self destruct in the mountain area. Some of them strangely will recover hp when they self destruct. A small bug but worth fixing before updating.

I didn't see the boss reviving anything at that point. Perhaps the boss was going to revive or summon more minions?

I hope to complete this game this weekend.
U'm did you intentionally deactivate all attack, character specific, and guard skill in abomination battle? What happens if I don't have any items to use?
This went on for three straight rounds. If this wasn't intentional, then it's a bug.....
@matski - I didn't touch that boss at all...how strange. Do you mind sending me your SAVE folder so that I could poke around a bit? Was this happening from the very beginning of the fight? Does it happen on ALL fights now, including trash battles?
