Edit 11/16: Another Small Update
1.04
Important Bug!
Don't leave the map or save and return during the Marsh Puzzle. I am using Yanfly's "Save Event" plugin (it works between battle events) but it doesn't seem to work whenever you leave and come back. I need to figure that one out.

1.03
I took some of your feedback and fixed up the game a bit. Here's the change log:
I still have a ways to go. I want to add more secret places, more things to interact with, more personality to Cypressa's denizens. But I didn't want to keep a broken up for download either.
Just keep in mind that it's still an unfinished demo / Chapter 1 =] Giving me your feedback (especially bug fixes) helps guide my decisions.
If you're interested in becoming a play tester for my future chapters, let me know! It'd be great to have people to test my games before I release them to the public.
Thanks again, guys!

- Hopefully fixed more passability issues
- Added an event between Serenity Mountain and the Swamp so I'm not losing people to lack-of-story-boredom
- Added a new spellbook for Aislyn to learn a new spell!
- Daer has a new ability as well
- Monsters will now respawn after 2~3 minutes

I took some of your feedback and fixed up the game a bit. Here's the change log:
- Fixed some passability, grammar, and event issues
- Added music to the beginning =]
- No more random encounters! All monsters are evented. Let me know if you find yourself underleveled for the boss, though.
- Added "Through" to the dead enemies so you shouldn't get stuck anymore
- Increased Daer's hit rate from 95% to 100% (not sure why he missed so often - he has the highest agi and luk in the bunch!)
- Added unique battle commands to make things a little less generic
- Battle Sequences! Only for Lightning Bolt, Magic Missile, Daer's Attack, and Backstab. I'll add the rest later.
I still have a ways to go. I want to add more secret places, more things to interact with, more personality to Cypressa's denizens. But I didn't want to keep a broken up for download either.

Just finished up the demo for Secret of Cypressa so went ahead and added it to RMN =] It's a bare-bones demo but it takes you all the way to the first boss - perhaps it a little less than an hour long. It's essentially Chapter One without the commitment of saying it's done - because it's not. I'd really love some feedback on it while I begin sprucing it up and polishing the nooks and crannies.
Edit: Just added the browser version too for those who would prefer that.

These are the things I still want to do with the game (besides, like, finish it).
Thanks for the help, guys!

Feedback
I'm really interested in:
- How terrible are the random encounters? I had them as evented monsters at first but couldn't find charactersets I liked for later in the game. I also couldn't figure out how "Weight" worked - they're all at either 5, 10, or 20. I didn't know if the higher the weight, the more you'll encounter, or the higher the weight, the more steps on average before hitting a monster. RNG is a fickle foe - I couldn't see a difference. Let me know! Haha
- How is the battle? Do the enemies deal too much dmg? Too little? It's challenging to be without a healer for so long, but Saving Statues recover all, and monsters will typically drop food. I was able to get through to the end without difficulty as long as I was smart with my food.
- Where are the slow moments? Literally when the animation / walking speed is too slow? Long story about that: there's a bug with using 144hz monitors causing the games to become incredibly fast (if you blinked, you'd miss something). I set all of my events to x4 Slower in order to make them look normal. Later I fixed the speediness with a plugin and had to go back and change my events to "Normal." If you see anything that seems abnormally slow, let me know. It's probably something I forgot.
- I'm interested in other things too but for the life of me I can't think of anything else.
Planned
These are the things I still want to do with the game (besides, like, finish it).
- I do want to get rid of the random encounters and definitely add evented graphic monsters instead, but I need to find some good charactersets first
- Add more lore and areas around Cypressa for people to click and read about (ie: the grave yards). Right now there really isn't anything to click. Sorry!
- Add Yanfly Battle Sequences to the skills so they're not so boring =] This might take me a while though...
- Either parallax map or draw my own tilesets - right now everything is default RTP editor-style. Prettier maps will come later.
- Custom icons is on the list too.
- Fix up the skill formulas - they're too iffy right now
- Probably other things too! =D
Thanks for the help, guys!
