Many people predict the ultimate apocalypse, saying the world as we know it will end in fiery fate. However, it's not as simple as that. The 'world' has already ended about 4 times now. Every millennia or so, the gods wipe the universe clean and start over from scratch. This is to ensure that no culture can take over and discover things they shouldn't have.
Some people have theorized the existence of these gods and what they're doing, and know that the fifth apocalypse is coming soon. They are trying with all their power to stop this from happening. But the end must come. The fifth era must end.
