First demo is out!

Hello everyone, while working with other projects, I managed to sneak another one in. This one in particular is to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Sonic the Hedgehog. However, this one is based on the 8bit games. Many Genesis and 3D implementations of the blue blur exist, but little to none for the 8bit games.

Anyway, the first demo is out with 10 playable levels and a playable Sonic and Tails. Many more are yet to come, as well as some secret content. Enjoy the game!

Would cool to see some update, if you're still working on it.

I'm just interested in S1, S2, and S4. So from my perspective it is already more than ready. Any news?

Not quite yet. The hosts of SAGE say that July is the month they will hold the event, I'll most likely be adding the game then since I missed SAGE 2017. There is a different project I'm working on at the time that will help improve the quality of the this one. I'll be sure to post something very soon. Thank you for your concern :)

Could you post a new demo with more levels please? Thank you

I'll certainly try my best to. This is one of 3 projects that are planned to be released some time in 2018. I appreciate your concern.

Just letting you know that I would be happy about an update.

If you don't have the time to work on it, then consider publishing the source file (e.g. on GitHub) so that someday someone else may continue it.

I'm terribly sorry about the lack of updates. Lately, there have been a number of issues that have prevented me from working on any of my projects. But, in the background however, I have been figuring out new ways to enhance the game, but I'll need some help.

I need someone to completely rip Tails' Sky Patrol's stages. I need every graphic as I've searched the web, surprisingly however, there isn't any Tails' Sky Patrol tiles :( I have some of them however. Is there a software out there can rip Game Gear games such as Sky Patrol and Adventures? So far, I have...

  • Sonic 1:Complete

  • Sonic 2:Complete

  • Sonic Chaos:Complete

  • Triple Trouble:Complete

  • Sky Patrol:20%

  • Tails' Adventure:20%

  • Sonic Labyrinth Remakes:0%

  • Sonic Blast Remakes:0%

Some other things I'll need are...
  • Sonic Labyrinth Sound Effects

  • Sonic Drift 2 Backgrounds(in races)

  • Tails' Adventure Sound Effects

  • Tails' Sky Patrol Sound Effects

On top of that, I have to make some from the ground up since they were in different formats before such as Sonic Drift 2 and Sonic Labyrinth. If you or anyone else would like to reach out and help in certain areas, I'd be grateful. I have all the tiles in the engine, and I would be more than happy to provide them if anyone wants to do some editing.

Friend for when a final version or a new demo? Thank you for your work

Good question. To be honest, I'm not 100% certain when a new demo will be released. There are heavy plans for new content in the works as well as a release for SAGE 2017 if that is being held this year. And you are welcome:) It's extremely rare to see 8bit games for Sonic at all. There is one called Sonic Origins 2; which was the primary inspiration for this project. The game was really good, but I wanted to make something like it with smoother physics.

There was a Sonic Colors 8bit game as well, but I'm afraid it got cancelled or something. Its sad to see so much work put into something and it gets cut(I'm looking at you Capcom).

Indeed. All the stuff is backed up on a flash drive. It's the personal stuff I'm upset about. Music, games, family photos and all that good stuff. Luckily, i work from a flash drive. I always knew this thing would die one day.

The folly of computers :(

Aww..please don't let another Sonic fan game die that has amazing potential.
I'm a fan for Sonic 1, 2 and 4 for the Game Gear and this is just amazing! Thank you so much!
- I love Sonic's movement/physics!
- The graphics are excellent
- The level design is fantastic
- The difficulty is excellent
- The possibility for replacing sounds (especially mus_test.mp3) is a very good design choice.

Things to further improve:
- Spining physics. Sonic loses too much speed when spining. In Sonic 2 (and even Sonic 1) on the the Game Gear the momentum when spinig was more persistent, especially when spining uphill.
- Sonic should be able to run a looping with his own force/speed, without requireing these acceleration wheels. Come on, it's Sonic!
- In Greenhill it seems that the movement of the two backgroud layers is wrong.
- If you introduce bosses, please make them challenging.
There is one available, but its old. Would you still like the beta?
