“THERE IS NO NIGHTMARE IN DAYBREAK. THE CITY IS ABSOLUTELY FINE. PLEASE FORGET THAT IT EVER EXISTED.”

Weird and unfortunate things are happening in the city of Daybreak. To the rest of the world, the city seems to have simply vanished, but inside, it has become a playground for mysterious beings who see humans only as hosts for their own amusement.

Alicia’s a bit strange. She still likes to wear her old baseball jersey, even though her team disbanded over a year ago. She can see otherworldly creatures that no one else seems to notice. She also has weird powers that she keeps hidden from the rest of the world. But when she receives a call for help from her niece in Daybreak, she’ll do anything to save her.

Caught up in the struggle along with Alicia are Miriam, a secretary and gun aficionado who only wants to escape the city, Lamar, an overworked middle school English teacher, and Dottie, Alicia’s niece, who has been captured for some nefarious purpose.

Explore what’s left of the ravaged city and find your way through surreal otherworldly areas that connect the broken urban shell. Encounter any other citizens who have survived and make contact with the strange entities that now inhabit this realm. Survive. Or be swallowed up by the city and forgotten forever.

Controller Support: If you'd like to play this game with a controller rather than the keyboard, then press F1 while the game is running and select the "Gamepad" option. From there it should allow you to remap the controls to your controller.

I know not every controller works with RPG Maker but I've gotten both a wired XBox One controller and the wireless 8BitDo controller to work with it, just from my own experience.

Window Size: You can double the window size by pressing F6, or go fullscreen by pressing F5.

Warnings: Game contains flashing lights and swearing.

Content Warnings: *sorta-spoilers?*
Child death, sounds of babies crying, last moments of a parent, mentions of suicide, general creepy stuff

NOW ON STEAM! Weird and Unfortunate RELEASE!

Click here to see Weird and Unfortunate Things Are Happening's STEAM PAGE!!!!

I finally pushed that big shiny launch button over on Steam, and now Weird and Unfortunate is up there and available to play, still for free!

I go by Sapphire Dream games over on Steam as a bit of rebranding, as I've been struggling for a while with the fact that "unity" is easily confused with the game making engine and I couldn't think of a way to remix it to sound unique.

This is my first game on Steam so I'm hoping I did everything right, but all my testing with the achievements and everything seemed to work, so fingers' crossed!

Huge thank you to everyone who wishlisted the game and promoted it on Twitter and itch and elsewhere! I really appreciate it!

Would you like to see any other of my games on Steam? I've already started tweaking Luxaren Allure for a possible Steam release, but we'll see how that goes.

Thanks again everyone!!! :DDDDDDDDDD

how i find the princess's heart
It's hidden in the Mind Mines, but can only be picked up after you have purified the Flying Eye Tile. I'll put the directions to it under here.

When you start the mine mini-game, choose the grey door on the upper left. Continue north thru a door. Then take the door on the right. Then take the door on the left. If you continue on this path, you'll get to an area with a glowing red outline.

The red-outline-area connects to a bunch of dead-end rooms, and one of them has the heart. You'll know you've found the right room if you find a chamber with grey mine floor and an item in the center in something that resembles a mine-cart.
thanks, also there something about a lock thta has a code begining with five and the organic machine

Ah. Right, near the pre-final boss area or something.

Buy a certain item in the store and the shopkeep will give a code. Save and reset so you don't have to buy it permanently?
and for what is the key of regrets and the prodigial bone

Pal, can you check please my mail about the zones of the mines of the mind?

I've been ignoring it because over the past month, I've dealt with a constant stream of messages from you, wanting answers to the locations to every secret you could imagine, asking for pictures and detailed instructions.

I've been very patient with you and obliged to give you all the answers, again and again. But now you've found every secret except possibly the developer's room and you're still sending me messages for directions and maps, insisting there are other secrets to find when you've gotten all the major ones. You've found all the secrets, you've done it all already, I have told you everything, and yet your messages keep coming.

The only thing left in the Mines of the Mind are Fortune Tickets, I've already told you how to get the other treasures.

RPG Maker games generally don't get guides. Though, the option to write one yourself is an option. Given unity's posts above, you have a basis of knowledge of this game's secrets that others might not have access to, or straight-up getting the Word of God on certain matters.

The trick to beating the Progress Nautillus is to lay on damage as fast as possible before things get too deadly. Using Dottie's chess pieces as well as DEF and MDEF breaks can help.

Yeah, not to mention I'm pretty busy working on my next game, and putting together a detailed guide would be a lot of work.

edit: Here.
Hi, I played this game from a recommendation in Omori Steam forums and I made an account here just for this.

How many secrets are in this game? The number listed out by the smol fellow in Uratheul. I also wonder if there are some speedrun strats that can be done. The 2 switches in the Temple of Rebirth has a fun little skip I really like, where 1 of the togglable pillars is actually hiding a path behind it, allowing you to skip half the dungeon if it weren't for the fact I was a total completionist.

However, I wonder more about speedrun strats in battles. What if a certain combination of equips, stat increases, and skills can start melting enemies like nothing? idk, just imagining. I see there are 14 pages worth of messages already but I guess I might try to skim through some of them now.

Thanks very much for making an account here just to post! :DDD

This is embarrassing, but I can't seem to find where I kept the max number of secrets. On my lastest playthru I had 131, so it's at least that high XD;;;

As for speedrunning and maximizing the game, I'm sure you could, tho no one's done so to my knowledge yet! Slio9 and other youtubers have shown that you can really maximize skill and stats to overpower enemies, Slio in particular wiped the floor with the Makyo bonus boss before the boss had even gotten warmed up, (tho it was a first time casual playthru, not a speedrun) so I wouldn't be surprised if it was possible :D
Ah, he used the Chess Pieces to tank the Progress Nautilus to do faster than I could when running Chess-less with a party of mostly LV99s that was faster than the Nautilus.

And with a party around the early 60s too...

super thanks for all the fun i had with this game... now playing it with the eldritch language translated
