I am so excited to announce that the 60% Version of Weird and Unfortunate Things are Happening is now live and available for download!

If you still have your original save file from the old demo, you can move it over to the new release and continue the game from there. Unfortunately, I goofed, and the game still replays the ending of the demo before letting you continue the game ^^;; It still works otherwise.

I can't believe it's been almost three years since the original demo released. It took me quite a while to get this version finished, but I'm so glad it got done. A huge thanks again to all the testers for a ton of wonderful feedback and a lot of cool fixes and corrections that made the game play better. And here's hoping I can get the rest of the game done faster than this part took me XD

Thanks again everyone, and please enjoy!

Oh, god, Dottie's weapons... Creepy? Sure is a surprise!

I'm not even sure how she'd get those... Everyone else starts with theirs...

----

I avoid my wisps until the bar is Yellow, 'cause the fights aren't so bad that I need the SP and stuff.

Then I don't think, and grab them when I'm trying to grind...

Always interesting to hear how different players approach things like this ^_^
I'm playing on Lucid Dream (2), and doing a no items run. Worked out so far.

LV15 for Alicia and Mariam, LV12 Lamar.

I haven't bought anything either. Is there a consumables shop in the School? All I can find is that guy who sells gear?

But, a heal point is close by, and monsters drop consumables...

Gonna try Bad Dream, and see what happens. Now, to make my way back to the school from the very start... Backtracked a bit too much...

Difficulty doesn't change drops / EXP / Obols, right?

----

Alien Area's Green Barriers, should they still be in Daybreak, even after the area's complete?

----

Wait... The players' clothes match their Emotional Element thing? No, Lamar's Green, which is Terror, but he uses Sorrow, which is Blue?

There's no consumable shop. You'll have to get them from exploration or drops.

Right.

Probably not. I'll remove them after the area is complete.

Didn't think of that when I designed them, so nope XD;;;

Cool! Thanks!

... Could I get my name in the credits? *shrug*

Nice Card Suits motif on the Portal in the School's office!

And those are some good rewards in the Alien area.

... How rare is Rare Cola drop? For RareRandomDrop.

Well, once is when you're in front of the school. I think it runs on a few places...

I've been shamefully neglecting RMN for a while now, and apparently completely missed the official testing phase. I'm very sorry about that.

Of course, I'll still try this new demo out as soon as I can! It's been a long, long time since I've last played this game. Let's see if it's become even better than before now.

No worries! :DDDD I'm just happy to have you play the game ^_^

If you really want to test, I am making a version with an added Global Switch script, and I want to see if the game runs, saves, and loads fine with it. Though my own tests just playing around with it seem to work just fine so far.
I guess it's very subjective matter, but during stream most people commented that they quite disliked music in game, due it's repetetive nature, not enough tracks, loudness and overall discrepancy with atmosphere.
For me I'm not sure, that track during walking Daybreak is quite nice, I feels some Toejam & Earl 2 vibes somehow. But during these inner red places it was quite loud and fast and too groovy for that.
That's just subject opinion anyway.

Overall I like it, as a game with characters and exploring. Still haven't finished. I can see some additions since previous demo, geez I can even remember it )
I beat the demo. The game is quite fun. The multi-floor school wore out its welcome, but otherwise I enjoyed the game.

The skill purchasing system works great. There are always skills which make me think "I really want them" to look forward to unlocking. They also really matter, in at least 90% of the cases where I unlocked such a skill, battles got significantly easier or faster. Then the game progressed and new enemies showed up to make the game harder again until I got some more skills.

Speaking of enemies, when fighting them, I had to pay attention to what I was doing and not just spam something. They also played out a lot differently from other JRPGs until Lamar joined. Previously there was no dedicated healer, but he has great healing skills and the encounters accommodated for that once he entered the picture. I still had to pay attention to what I was doing, so they didn't become less tactical, just less unique.

I'd have thought that Alicia was the Healer, actually... But you just can't do it much.

Were you playing on Nightmare?

How far did you advance up Mariam's skill tree? 'Cause Acid Rampage really works for me, perhaps a bit too much... It costs a lot of PSI, sure, but the healing mouths and Alicia can keep that okay...

Wait, I think I might've grinded too much, facing the Parasite at LV9...

The points about the music are fair enough. I don't have a good ear for music and couldn't carry a tune in a bucket to save my life, and many of the tracks I chose are pretty darn weird.

For future projects, I'll try to work with a composer for the entire games' music tracks, or at least get someone a bit better with music to help me pick tunes that work.

Wonderful! I'm so glad you had a good time with the game so far and that it was tactically interesting. I don't remember the exact thread, but I had been reading some of your thoughts on battle design sometime around when I was making the battle system and I'm sure that influenced the game for the better.

As for the school, I agree, and I'll learn from that mistake and not make dungeons so huge anymore (except maybe for a bonus dungeon after the end of the game)
author=Malandy
I'd have thought that Alicia was the Healer, actually... But you just can't do it much.
To clarify, I usually did not use Lamar as a dedicated healer, but he can serve that role and occasionally did. However, fact is that he can use a multitarget heal every other turn and a single target heal every turn. Alicia does not have that ability. Enemies started to lay on far more damage once he joined, shifting the gameplay towards healing.

Were you playing on Nightmare?
I was playing on the second hardest difficulty. It wasn't really hard, so the hardest would probably have worked as well.

How far did you advance up Mariam's skill tree? 'Cause Acid Rampage really works for me, perhaps a bit too much... It costs a lot of PSI, sure, but the healing mouths and Alicia can keep that okay...
I did not get that far. The skill before that one was not very appealing, so I didn't unlock it until the end of the 60% version. It does look great though. I'll probably got for it faster if I play this game again.

Glad to hear it. Well, if you follow my advice, it kind of follows that I will like the battles.
