Sewer Saga and a Rambling Dev

The sewer is a short area to give the player a cooldown after the huge school dungeon and the vedim area within it. Just relax as you navigate the smelly surroundings. Regain your chill after all that crazy mess that happened beforehand.

Can you find all the graffiti RPG Maker game references?

Between the 60% release and now, all I've worked on concerning the rest of the game is the sewer itself and the downtown tileset. Honestly, an equal amount of time has been spent fixing bugs and correcting stuff with the already finished 60% of the game (thanks again for all of the feedback :DDD). There's also a secret password menu (only in the latest version of 60% release) for people who want to replay the game with all the expense-speak translated, though it's not exactly useful until the full game is out. press Q as the game starts before any dialog appears. but what's the password? beat the game when its released to find out

So, what's left to do in the game? Let's revive that game progress meter I made waaaaaay back when, redrawn for kicks.

So is that a lot or not much? Hard to say. I'm just taking it one step at a time, and we'll arrive at the end sooner or later.

Honestly, after the 60% Release, I thought I'd give myself a break and do something fun, like a short yuri game or something. But I dunno, I failed in that because all my ideas needed longer games to work, and the one idea I thought of that's short doesn't really sing to me, so I'll just keep plugging away at this game for now. Not to say that I might not need a short game distraction to give me a break from all the weirdness of this project later down the line, but I'll try to stay focused.

Thanks for reading my rambling and following the game's development :DDDD

Oooh, translations...

I was wondering if we could decode it ourselves, if the Expanse Text for the Boss Subtitles meant the same as the English...

But probably not, given text length differences?

I could (and probably should) do an entire blog on the Expanse Text. You can in fact totally translate all of it yourself using the in-game hints. The expanse symbols are a simple cipher, except with symbols instead of letters. One is what the "lesser" dwellers use, usually the eye worms and such, while the others use "greater" speak.

Sentence 1 is saying the same thing as Sentence 2, but 1 is "lesser" and 2 is "greater" speech.

Since there are two sets of symbols, hints have both symbols listed.

Originally, I was just going to leave it at that. I figured if the player wanted to play along and decipher the text, they could.

But a couple of testers mentioned it'd be cool if there was a way to make the game translate it for you. This made me think. First off, I haven't heard of anyone who's bothered to try to translate them, and secondly, I'm kinda asking players to do something I probably wouldn't do in a game (Sooz would do it though, she'd totally decipher everything if left to her own devices, I'm sure XD)

So I spent a few days going back to every instance of Expanse Speak and changing them to conditional branches with translations for players who have beaten the game. I'm still finding instances I've missed so it'll probably be a testing nightmare down the line XD

That said, if you do bother to translate the language yourself, I'm putting in a few things that'll hopefully reward you for doing so. If not, they'll probably just be seen as "playing the game again" bonuses for people who have already beaten the game.

Man, that's gonna be tough, since you'd have to replay the game to see all the text?

The ending credits will give you a password (er, pass-number, to be exact) that will translate the text if put in the hidden menu. However, I'll allow you to use the password in the final area of the game as well, which is probably what opens up the Bonus Hell Dungeon.

Slayer of the Faithlessis a foreboding piece of graffiti to have on any wall. Well done. Also, I love the way that you visualised game progress. I don't know if I've seen a progress bar so spirally in all my life. All in all, I'm excited for this game's development and while I've been meaning to play it for some time, I have been streaming some RPG Maker games recently in my spare time, so I might get a chance to try this one out. I'll let you know if I do, just in case you'd like to watch.

Keep on developing awesomely, unity!

That would be amazing, Cash! :DDD I'll definitely try to catch that if you do ^_^

Everyone stole uni's progress bar, so now it's a progress nautilus

well mine's gonna be a jellyfish

I'm always flattered to hear that people got inspired by my progress bars and decided to use them!

I went with something different this time because I wanted a way to lump the completed parts of the game together, and when I envisioned the spiral, I just had to do it XD

big fan of the progress nautilus. keep up whatever pace you're comfortable with! put a small yuri game....inside of this game????

it doesn't have to be this game's characters. it could be a totally separate yuri game in the middle of this one. it's weird... but fortunate ; ^ )

Haha, I could definitely see me adding a cute yuri minigame within the game somewhere. Maybe you find a lone arcade machine somewhere, labeled Polyuribius.
Since this kinda went into the topic of Alicia X Miriam, I think it's cute but I'm not getting any shipping vibes from them.

Betting the Bonus Dungeon is that inaccessible area with the Healy Mouth in the School... Or that that's a Shortcut back, from a Downtown Vedim Space or something.
My progress bar will be a bowl of cereal.
