VERMICIDE is a simple, short, complete stand-alone dungeon-crawler RPG set in a very bleak and even somewhat realistic post-apocalyptic nuclear wasteland.

It is was inspired by the "nuclear contamination" theme of Asalieri's three-hour make-off, which it was one of the entries for. Feeling it had more potential than the three hours of work I put into it, I spent another 27 hours or so of work finishing, patching, and polishing it. The result is a complete game, albeit a very short one.
Playtime: The game is exactly one (modestly vast) dungeon long. It takes me, on average, a little less than an hour to play through, when I'm not rushing. Your mileage may certainly vary, as you don't know where everything is and how everything works. It is definitely possible to speed-run through the game in under half an hour, and I think this might be a very fun game to attempt speed runs on, although as its creator I can't be sure.

Difficulty: Somewhere between very hard and brutal. The game is murderously unforgiving, with not just the monsters but all kinds of traps, hazards, and even starvation, dehydration, and fatigue all trying to kill you. You are allowed to save everywhere and anywhere, and you know what, I suggest you do so.

It is worth noting that Vermicide, while it is complete as a stand-alone game/story, serves as a prequel/preview for the setting and systems of a much larger and more ambitious project set in the same world: EVERYTHING TURNS GRAY. Hence, its purpose is to harvest feedback.

So please, please tell me your thoughts!

The Monsters are WAAAAYYY too overpowered or you are just very UNDERpowered
But you said that at the beginning :P
liked the game though besides the few spelling errors here and there (pet-peeve)
Awesome game...I actually thought there was more,but before i knew it the credits were rolling.I liked the concept lock picking was a new concept and none of the puzzles were to difficult.Battles on the other hand were unforgiving and merciless,but I liked it kept me on my toes. Overall good game now if only it were long (;
I cannot load this game.... I am pretty sure it's the RTP that I have. Do you know a good place to download the latest?
HELP PLEASE !!
im stuck... i did blow up the wall to get to the fuel tank, but still i cannot enter the room... is this some kind of bug, or is there anything else i have to do to enter the room?

Yep, that's a totally new concept that I have never seen in any game before this.

Really? I am surprised it inspires such strong feelings!

On the plus side, it is finished.

How do you access the little chest on the other side of the gap?

I think you can find a rope that lets you get it?

What rope? I never found any rope!

This might seem trivial to you, but after one and a half year I'd really like to know the contents of that chest.

hahahaha, fair enough, allow me to be more specific!

From the gap across from the small red chest, go four steps right. Go six steps down and about fourteen steps left. Go down through the door. About two steps to your right will be the rope. Return to the gap and you will use the rope to lasso the chest and pull it to you. (The contents are nothing special, but your curiosity will be satisfied.)
Just finished the game
In general, good story, problem is in walking from point A to b to C to B and sometimes I forget where I'm going; it becomes harder and more monotonous with these tough animals with high encounter rate
I have the same problem as daniel17.

I have the explosives, the cutscene playes, and the wall looks different (there is now a hole in it), but I cannot walk/enter through it.

I reloaded and tried again, but I get the same result.

EDIT: Never mind, after trying it a few more times, it worked.

But I don't really know how.

that's weird, and I'm really not sure what's causing it; non-repeatable errors/errors that can be bypassed by trying over and over again are kind of funky in that way. it's tough to determine the underlying cause.

I'm glad that it worked eventually!

edit: I think it may simply be that you need to step onto the tile directly below the opening in the wall while your character is facing up to "teleport" through to the other side...that's my best guess at this stage.

I just finished the game.

It was a lot of fun(a little bit of fun?), and I hope that "Everything turns Gray" will get an update soon.
You and me both, NEIN. I'm not sure what sort of miracle it would take to get the team back together on that one, but I'm hoping for it, too.

We can always hope!

...or bribery, that works sometimes.
Unfortunately I'm pretty sure Max was the only dev on EtG and has already pretty much stated that unless that changes, EtG will not be completed because it is far too vast in scope for one dev to complete and remain sane.
