- ROAD TO RACCOON CITY -


On September 22nd, 1998, HUNK operated as commander of Alpha Team with the mission to break into the Raccoon City Underground Laboratory and steal the G-virus from Dr. Birkin.

Birkin was left mortally injured and, knowing its regenerative capabilities, injected himself with a sample of the G-Virus that Umbrella successfully retrieved...

Unfortunately, its mutagenic properties overtook his humanity and transformed him into an unstoppable mutant killing machine.
He destroyed the paramilitary Umbrella Security Service team.

And in the process, vials containing the T-Virus were dropped, releasing it into the sewers which was then carried by rats through the city, leading to a full-scale outbreak....


By September 24, the city was in total chaos...
Most civilians having been infected and subsequently overtaken by the virus...


Less than a week later...



You are a member of Omega Team.

Your unit is spilt up with staggered drop points at key locations.
Along the way you have orders to erradicate
crucial evidence and Umbrella Facilities...

You must complete the tasks and then rendeavous
with the other members of Omega Team for extraction.


There is no room for failure...

Isn't great? I honestly don't know what tileset it is besides Modern/Futuristic

Edit: Sorry, the buildings and few other things are from a VX ACE resource pack you can buy, don't know about the cars and stuff.

yay for unreasonable auto text walls! even if you can read it by speed reading you may have a bit of trouble actually
getting that information to sink in.

resources are a bit tough would say this would be around normal mode difficulty.

This is by far the best real time zombie game i have seen with the rpg maker engine.
i seriously had no hope at all for something that was enjoyable after seeing enough of them.
but this has a good balance of enemies.resources,control interface and a actual goal rather then survive.
heck add a map that shows your current location,maybe some puzzles and bosses and this could have some potential.


Overall
i don't recommend demos but this may be worth following.

i will say a part of me wanted a aiming function.like you need to hold a button to aim so you can shoot. and while aiming look in any direction.
perhaps if possible in the future add 2 styles of gameplay?

Thanks shayoko! I took your feedback and my testers advice and thoughts a lot when working on this. :)

I'll mess with the auto-text scroll, so that it's easier to read or give enough time for the words to sink in.

And don't you worry! I'm planning on some kind of map, like in the RE games. There will also be puzzles and files/documents to find and read. I'm really going to aim for a RE2 feel and fan service.

Appreciate your feedback! It means a lot because you're not easy to please which is good for me as a developer when you like it! haha :P

Download updated!

I added four readable documents in the DEMO and updated some things and fixed a few bugs. Also added a little RE surpirse. :D

Thanks to everyone who has downloaded so far and given feedback in any way!

I like the idea, to stay more true to form but I think it would slow combat down ultimately and might actually be more dangerous for the player to get hit.

I missed this extra until now :p

Hey everybody!

Dropping in with a decent sized progress report! I've updated the download which now includes the first Umbrella Facility you need to blow up.
New music, new weapons, a timer based run and some extended areas as well as updated mapping and more documents to read, small box pushing puzzle and mini boss!

Progress is going great and hopefully I'll be reporting back in with further progression like the second Umbrella Facility and further expansion of "The Road of Raccoon City" with more new and interesting maps.

I think my only problem is that it's not registering double shots when I shoot too fast. But I can understand this is an issue with RM itself.

If anything I didn't like how the text logs can scroll really slow even if I speed up. Is it possible to just make those message boxes? :o

I can look into the double shots! But I believe the way it is allows the bullet to hit the square next to you, whereas early in you couldn't. But I may be able to tweak it slightly further. :)

The scrolling text boxes are more a design choice personally. I want it to be read as all documents are from all the various RE titles, with minor edits and additions.
There is only one file/document that is mandatory to read. Otherwise they are to try to immerse the player by taking away the current surrounding and BGM.
And honestly I don't like text boxes when trying to display a lot of information :(
The scroll text is big and easy to implement.

I'm sorry you don't like it, and I'm sure others might not like waiting through it but I like it as it is right now for design reasons.

Edit: Archeia- I messed around with the settings and i believe the hit box is better. More shots land when you're "rapid firing" Another thing i've noticed is that if the enemy is hit it's possible a second shot might miss because it's registering the first hit. But it should be better now and i'll update the download soon :)

You should make it so that those text boxes a whole-screen message boxes, so they can scroll slowly letter-by-letter or the player can press confirm to dump all the text on screen at once and read it at their own pace.

One of my biggest regrets with Sore Losers is my overuse of the pause/auto-finish text-box commands, players really don't like that sort of thing even if it can seem aesthetically pleasing. Sometimes functionality is more important than how something looks (almost always IMO).

Thanks guys, I appreciate the feedback and advice.

I'll look into changing it, make it skippable or i'll check out some scripts. In this day and age I have no reason not to. There's probably something perfect out there i'm sure :p

Alright I'm back :D

It was surprisingly well-balanced! Tank's HK MP5 doesn't make him OP due to the claustrophobic environments. The knife is also useful. Starting off with a can of first aid spray instead of a green herb will be better, though.

The zombies are definitely scarier here than the ones in RE6. If you have any plans on making them turn into Crimson Heads, it'll be better.

Overall, I really like it and I look forward to the full release! :D

I recommend making Crimson Heads as detour surprises. Players new to RE series will definitely be surprised!
