The world of Epheria had endured a great loss. The Dark Mother Shadonia, fell twenty years ago at the hands of Kain Wyndus. Kain was duped and fooled by his father Ulster, Chieftain of the Five Gods. With the loss of the Great Mother came a powerful imbalance of Shadow anima, and the King of Gods was nigh on invincible. However, Ulster's plan had one flaw. Shadonia's champion, the Shadow Huntress, and the Dragon Knight, were foretold to meet. When that time came, Ulster's days would be numbered.

Kylia Arbonath, age twenty-one, was a Dream Chaser. She is a highborn woman of Epheria's western region, the Whispering Isles. And yet Kylia ran away from home at sixteen, and was joined by her best friend Tobias Searworth. She cast away her true name, her homeland and everything she was born, to live the life of a wandering warrior, a Dream Chaser.

Five years later, Kylia was summoned to the local monastery to receive what should have been a routine job. However, across the sea in her homeland of Regulia, a bloody coup d'etat claimed the lives of the royal family. Fate decreed that the woman who had given up everything would be forced to return and play a part in the destruction of the chief God.

Kylia was unknowingly being drawn into an age old conflict between man and god. She would unravel a thousand years of history, and the world would be forever changed with a series of seemingly small actions. The Shadow Huntress had been reborn in the modern age.

Unlikely allies are sometimes the best allies, and Kylia has hers. From a sarcastic priest, to a gorgeous dancer with a penchant for bloodshed, Kylia's entourage grows with speed. Each character has their strengths and weaknesses, and building the team in unique ways can lead to new strategies in battle.

- An interactive world -

The race of Man is not the only race that inhabits Epheria. There were tales of the Valeer, beings who share the traits of both man and beast on their corporeal forms, but these beings have long since gone into hiding. Kylia will have the opportunity to meet three of these tribes, and help them re-intergrate into modern society. The rewards for doing so are worth the effort of finding them.

- Optional Dungeons -
These dungeons will open as certain conditions are fulfilled, and provide an additional challenge to the player seeking it. There are five total, and have different conditions to unlock.

- Side Stories -
Side Stories are character driven quests that involve members of Kylia's party. There are a total of 70 Side Stories, and they award bonus content, new skills that reinforce that character's role in battle, and more. Kylia may even earn the love and undying devotion of her companions, depending on the choices she makes.

- Tools of Divine Power -
The Glowing Ore Kylia will obtain early on her journey is vital to her quest. At predetermined times, Kylia will obtain an ability to influence the world around her. She will eventually be able to see invisible objects, return the world around her to a time lost to her, and more. Using these abilities will be the key to accessing some areas, treasures, and more.

- Hidden Passageways -

Is there an item you just can't seem to reach? Try walking into walls! Some especially powerful, or rare, treasures may be hidden off the beaten path as a reward for the intrepid adventurer. There seems to be a certain clue that gives these away, but that is for Kylia to discover...

1+ year of silence and the future of Epheria

Hi. It's been... a long time. I'll keep this short and to the point. 2019 was a year of major setbacks for my personal life, but I'm slowly getting back on track and Epheria with it.

Unfortunately the game's original artist isn't available to continue so I've spent two years seeking someone to fill that role. I've found someone and frankly her work is incredible. (Her contact info is at the end of the blog.)

2020 will see work resuming on Epheria in full swing, and once Act One is fully fleshed out and all the art is done, I'll be publishing it more. My goal is to have the full game done by 2022.

Long wait but hey, time makes the heart grow fonder.

Here's to Epheria in 2020.

I tried your game in normal (Dream Chaser) mode, but stopped because the latern in the sacred cave and the tower makes me terrible headaches. The game starts to lag too much for me.
The enemies are really tough - I think I will train with the bears (reasonable exp and astra (100 each drop) for only one foe) until an update for the latern issue is up.
The prices are very high too - for the first option to buy better equipment or sleep. You only get astra for enemy drops, you need to be at least lv 5 for the hunting quest.
Is it intented that your TP-Charge (I know it isn't named so) only grow when getting hit? Guard is meaningless as long it don't last until the characters next turn.

In the sacred cave is a tile missing in the wall (north of the exit).

The beginning/story is well so far, but the light effects... (could be my graphic card;)
Hey thanks for the feedback! I'm actually working on smoothing some things out on the graphics front. I think it's your graphics card since my computer has no issues with the graphics, but I'm not sure what you mean by headaches?

Prices have been normalized and I'm going to be putting out an update for it in a week or so.

I'm also adding in the ability to guarantee escape from non-bosses. And TP is still under consideration as to how it will gain it. I have two ideas I'll be toying with.

As for guard I'll have a look at that issue. I'm glad you gave it a try!

I'll see what I can do about the lighting effects as well.
The moment I enter the cave/tower, my graphic card seems to be overtaxed by the light effects of the latern. Perhaps there's a possibility to send me a version without them, just a bit darker maps so the game won't lag for me.
I have no money for a new laptop and MV might be the limit. Eternal Twilight is a bit laggy too, but not too much.

This lagging and flickering lights make me those bad headaches. I'm glad for not having epilepsy, only some kind of migraine.
Oh, ok. I see what you mean. Yeah it's your graphics card. Ok, I'll see what I can do regarding that for you. ^^

Hey I've tried a little bit of your game and so far I love the travel journal and relationships. Also I'm wondering did you draw the title screen yourself because it's beautiful.

It's really interesting the relationship system especially, I'm curious on how it will affect the characters later in the game, Definitely will play more when I have time.

Hey there! I'm glad you enjoy it so far. The relationships will actually serve a vital role at certain points in the game. Hint: If you're a fan of well written romance, and stories of friendships forged through combat, you'll hopefully enjoy the direction I take it. c:

As for the title screen, I didn't. I found an image online and edited it slightly.
Hey, I´ve tried your demo and it was pretty nice!

Now that I´ve read your current post about the second demo beeing out, I have one question:
I downloaded the new version and copied my previous save files.
Start the game/ continue and it goes on directly.
Guess everything should be alright then?

Anyway: If finished, this game shall rock any store it is to be set in.

Thank you; have a nice day.

I'm glad you're liking it! It's only about 20% done, actually, and I have it being developed slowly, day by day. Wow this comment really made my day! I'll probably put one more demo up before the final project.~

Sounds good, until then I try to get the latest demo completed.
As I wrote before: I copied my save files and it works so far. The only thing gone are my abilities, but there is a set amount of AP. So this should be fine.

Well, it's ready! I hope you enjoy it. :)
I'm back to this game with a new laptop - and now I had no headaches.

This demo is really good. But there was one big glich:
When trying to enter the treasure room on the Exelsior (ship) you end up in the crew room again and have to walk all the way again.

And you should stop the two to enter the Sacred Cave before you have spoken to Lina.

The max 50 items is okay but not for other currencies: I stored my Goblin cloth after the tower and the 30 ones from the Gobson quest (Goblin armourer) just go phut to nothing.

Yeah I need to tag my currencies. I'm thinking allowing a max of 999 for currencies. Also thanks for the note on the armory door. I didn't know that was bugged. I'll be having another revamped version soon to play. Along with a lot of remapped areas.

The armory door on the ship is ok, the treasure room to the right is bugged.
Huh. The treasure room shouldn't even be accessible. I guess I made an oversight there. Thanks for that.

If you need a beta-tester, I volunteer.
I just wanted to say I did a First Impressions of your game and thought it was good, so far as I played. Sadly the audio of the game messed up when recording, but you can check it out here, hope you enjoy the video as much as I enjoyed playing the game :) https://youtu.be/TjN_hQ_aQ9I

Oooooh! I'll be sure to give this a watch! I'll be honest though, the game is being tested with much nicer maps. If I'd known you were gonna do this I'd have asked you to wait til the new demo was done xD I'll watch this and see what I can do better or worse too.

Thank you!
An excellent game from a guy who said he did only what a man can do! I have to play it on a brand new 64-bits Windows 10 platform with 8 Gb of RAM to prevent the many unexpected crashes with immediate return to desktop I experienced on my other 6-year older machine but it was worthful (which points towards a RAM or graphic card weakness)!
I have no major remark about the gameplay but a minor one: the STM gauge of fiends doesn't show for every monster, only for the lasts The encounter rate may seem a bit high, but ensures a steady levelling-up searching every corner of the maps: in a nutshell, congratulations for that wonderful game I spent 11 hours to beat. Be sure I'm looking forward the next chapters!
Heya. Just writing to tell you that when I try to download the latest update, I'm getting a 404 error and the page doesn't exist apparently. Please fix.
I'm currently undergoing massive updates to it so for the time being I've taken it down. I'm aiming to be done with the demo by the end of December and it'll be about 8 to 10 hours of gameplay.

Edit: I've made an older version available for download. It's not currently up to date or tested, but it's there.
