STORY
Their kingdom has run out of water and there has not been a drop of rain for five years. The plants, animals and people are dying. There are some that believe the Goddess punnishes them and makes them suffer. Others believe that they are in charge of their own fate and an artifact can return water to the land now known as Desertopia.

Two parties embark, one party is formed when believers in both theories combine their wits to save the world with either the artifact or a pilgrimage to a holy shrine.

Another party hunts the first party; chasing them through the kingdom on their duty to retrieve the artifact that was stolen by force by a thief in the first party.

There are only a few clear cut good characters and bad characters, but the lines will blur with each character's motivation.

ENEMIES
Enemies have a different dichotomy to them, because you can see them as mist on the map. Therefore you can avoid them, or run from them. If you engage in a battle with them and you run, you see your character run away on the map, which means you can get cornered and survive or die. This puts strategy into battles.

Battles take more than weapons and attacks to win. Instead each enemy has a weakness whether it is an item, an element, magic or simply a crushing blow. This leads to challenges were players will have to think to win.

VISUALS
This is a very visual game and makes use of manipulating the Ruby VX engine to make fire, light spots and various other effects.

As for the dialog and the 73 pages of it (so far), to make it easier on the alpha testers, I've started implamenting the dialog from the main quest into the game. The game already had loads of dialog, but not from the screenplay of the game so to speak.

I'm also tempted to give a pre release version of the game to McDohl. That way he can hate it right off the bat and I can correct it accordingly before I release it to the public.

the battle system sounds interesting.
There are also minor battles and major battles. Major battles appear as larger fogs that you can specifically determine where they are, while with minor battles you really cannot pin point a location. Zelda 2 had minor and major battles as well where you could see clearly on the overhead map where each enemy was.

Of course there are standard... talk to me and lets fight battles as well.

Another beautiful thing is that enemies drop treasures and chests on the map itself for you to pick up.

Dunno about else, but your mapping looks pretty great!
Game fell 3 stars when I wasn't looking. I would say that it has to be from the game not being out yet, but there are other games with no downloads that are still have stars.
Crappy visuals if you ask me. Everything looks square and tiled. Not your fault though. I think it's a total waste of time to try to make a game look good in RPG Maker VX. Stock tiles are the worst ever in any RPG Maker. RPG Maker 2000 had better looking stuff. And XP too, and has unlimited tiles. Why even bother to use VX?? I never seen a good game made with VX...

That was really harsh Skaruts. The Rtp is Blocky, however if you don't like them you could make/use different ones. Also his visuals for the most part look great. I think it is pretty silly to post on someones game page just to complain about the Vx Rtp. As far as a good game made in rpg maker vx. Mage Duel and Everything turns Gray by Max are great. Also Demon Tower by craze is awesome. It is not the program that makes a great game it is the game creator.
