Introduction

Star's Favour is a short dungeon crawler/comedy game developed by Indra using RPG Maker VX Ace. As a dungeon crawler the game is rather lackluster in my opinion, but it does seem to work a bit as a comedy game as long as your looking for the kind of sophomoric humor depicted above my intro. If you can't really get into the mood for crude sex jokes and what not then I'd suggest staying away from this game.

Story

In terms of plot the game is about a ragtag group of heroes that were chosen rather poorly by Starlet, a star spirit. Sadly, she wasn't able to accompany the group since she passed out after consuming to many spirits if you know what I mean. As such the party is largely allowed to run roughshod around the temple complex while smacking monsters and behaving like idiots. Though most of their idiotic behavior involves Karnak and Mab reminding us that they are lesbians. Which may or many not annoy the player after a while.

Gameplay

I'll be upfront in admitting that the combat in this game is rather tedious. This is because the game requires little in terms of strategy and in many cases you can utilize the same tactics over and over again on almost every enemy you come across. To make matters worse you heal fully after every battle as well as have all of your potions and items refilled. As such the game never feels challenging and feels rather toothless for a dungeon crawler.

On the plus side the game does feature a party that offers a lot of potential when it comes to team attacks. So, the party does feel far greater then the parts that comprise it.

Graphics

On the graphical side of things the game is merely okay in my opinion. While, I like all of the artwork involving the cast. The Star Temple itself is a rather boring sea of grey.

Conclusion

Star's Favour is a game that has a certain appeal if your in the mood for sophomoric humor and more casual RPG. If your looking for a difficult game or humor that requires more thought put into it then Karnak's brother hoping to find a different hotel to spend the night in so he doesn't have to listen to his sister and Mab having sex then this isn't the game for you.
