- Synopsis -

Year 2310.
The world of Ariathale, a planet fueled by the power of Atlas, a mysterious versatile mineral, is facing a heavy crisis period due to mankind's greed.
Many years ago, the planet was filled with these crystal stones, but people started abusing it and the world fell into a state of recession.
The leaders of all ariathalian states met in the Tower-City of Halderos, the most important and rich city of all Ariathale, to decide the future of the planet.
In order to maintain the remaining Atlas resources, those leaders decided to ban the Atlas Technology until they'd find a new energy source capable of substitute the Atlas.
The story begins with Seth, an ex-imperial guard of the Levizoan Empire, escaping from his former comrades.
They are after him because Lord Meister, vassal of the Emperor, thinks that Seth is linked to the potential solution to the Crisis, but the young runaway doesn't want to return to the Vanguards Castle.

- Character descriptions -

To avoid spoilers, I'll show you only 4 of the 19 playable characters of the game! : )
Seth Sheridan:
Seth is a young man tormented by his past. What happened 2 years ago is the cause of his flee from the imperial guards of Reyel: the Vanguards. Lord Meister, vassal of the Emperor, thinks that Seth is linked to the potential solution to the Crisis: a mysterious Red Crystal.

Rudra:
Rudra is an old varzan (wolf-man) of the Marut clan, a shamans and hunters tribe. He was the clan's chief. His life was based on hunt and pray, but something happened to the clan. A rival tribe attacked the Maruts killing everyone even though they were less than them. Rudra says that they won because they used a strange Red Crystal with arcane powers. He follows Seth to discover the origin of this mysterious crystal.

Ferion:
Ferion is a Maverick, a group of rebels that opposes the Halderos Treaty, the treaty that banned the technology. He and his friends use the forbidden technology to help the people of Reikan Empire. He seems to be linked to the Scarlet Wyrms, a dangerous group of criminals looking for the Red Crystal.

Nadia:
A reserved girl that possesses a strange item that seems to be the potential solution of the Crisis. This item is one of the Red Crystals that both the Empires and the Scarlet Wyrms are looking for, and for this reason she will be involved in the adventure. Nadia is considered a witch by the people of her town, because she is the only one that can use Magic, a source of energy that disappeared many centuries ago.

- Features Overview -
Theia is a classic J-RPG game, so we have characters with Level, Experience, HPs, and so on. Characters level-up killing enemies, etc etc.
These are the main gameplay features:
40+ hours of gameplay (about 25-30 of main story, and 10 of subquests, secondary events and minigames)
14 subquests
12 trophies / achievements
5 (6?) different endings

- Characters -

The playable characters of Theia are 19. Each character enters the party with "Guest" condition. As the story progresses, some of them will find a reason to remain with Seth and then lose the condition. A Guest character cannot change his weapons and can't learn new skills.

- Weapon Upgrade and Atlas Shards System -

Each non-guest character has 3 or 4 weapons that can be created and upgraded by using crafting materials.
Many weapons are crafted with Atlas Technology, so the played can insert Atlas Shards inside the weapons to gain bonuses. These weapons also have Atlas Synergies, that unlock extra bonuses according to the equipped shard. This system resembles FFVII's Materia System.

- Skills, Ability Points -

The characters don't learn and upgrade skill by leveling up, but by using Ability Points (AP), a pool of points shared by all the characters.

- Exceed Technique -

The classic Limit Break. Each character has a bar to fill during the combat. When the bar is filled, the Exceed Technique, a powerful attack or buff, can be used. Each character fills the bar using a specific battle command (we can see this command in the Status Menu). Each character has his unique EX-Technique. At the end of a battle, the Exceed bar will empty.

- Mastery and Mastery Skills -

In the right side of the battle screen, there is the Mastery Bar: a special bar that charges up by using aggressive commands such as Attack and Skills, and unloads by defending or using items. The more the bar is loaded, the more bonuses we will receive at the end of the battle depending on the characters we are using. Each characters grants a bonus (EXP, AP, money, HP or SP recovery). We can also use this bar to apply passive bonuses by activating Mastery Skills.
The Mastery Skills are special passive skills unlockable by using APs, that grants bonuses during the combat. We can "equip" a Mastery Skill in the Skill Menu and set it at Level 1, 2 or 3. Obviously, the skills is more powerful at Level 3, but it is also more difficult to charge up the Domain Bar until it reaches the selected level.

- Camp -

While traveling in the World Map, the player can access to the Camp, where he can talk to the other party members and increase (or decrease) their stats, learn new infos about the lore and the characters, and also gain new skills that can be used in combat.

- Hunts -

During the adventure, the player may find Hunting Guilds that allows him to hunt down powerful enemies to gain rare items and equipments. The functioning is similar to FFXII's Hunts.

EDIT: Nevermind the below. I didn't realize you had to move when the monster wasn't looking.

Pretty sure the Chapter 11 minigame with Borghetti trying to get the key while avoiding the monster is glitched.

Sounds like the same stuff people have been talking about here with the bike minigame, but I had no problems with that and I just can't get past this. I'm hitting the button at the middle but it still registers as a miss. COnversely, sometimes when I hit the button outside the middle, it lets him move forward.

I think there needs to be a skip minigame function, this is frustrating. :(
This is amazing. I am about 25 hours in on hard mode but I loved every second of it so far. Barely a moment I was bored. So many likable characters, cool graphics n storytelling moments, I just wanna ask

Is there no way to prevent Alison, Varneleon, even Sophet's deaths? :/

Also, does the

branching start from the point Lademis gives us that choice in that big ship? Or does choosing No gives me more options in the long run?
Hi Raiem! Thank you : )

And for your questions:

No you can't prevent their deaths, but you can unlock then as playable characters in the Extremordeal, the extra dungeon.
  • The choice changes the ending. That's a big deal XD
I'm sorry, but I am stupid I don't know where to go at the start of the game. You should provide a walk through.

EDIT: Never mind figured it out. Sorry but I am stupid. I can't figure out some things as easily as others.

My mind is full of fuck.

Hard to pass the motorbike level, gonna keep trying
really enjoying the game lollo - i just reached chapter 8

very impressed by the plot so far - it's not predictable, and even though new characters show up frequently they all feel interesting and have depth to their backstories

i like the gear diversity, scarcity and synergy from unveil/alter - though

there's a nice mix of mini-games

lots of progressive sidequests that feel rewarding without getting in the way of the main story

branching parties and shifting main party compositions are excellent! in so many games it feels like a chore when forced to split the main party

i'm terrified of missing a shard permanently playing hard :) and appreciate the warnings

there's a nice diversity of rewards from dialogues - it's cool that you can learn different skills from the camp dialogues, get a different doll (mine gives +60 spr and i am curious if the others are better), etc.

thanks!

I've already finished my guide and sent it to LolloRocketDriver to add the correct boss names.
I downloaded it but I still have to work on it. You did a great job, thank you :)
However it can take a while... it's a pretty busy period for me >_<"
can the sealed purple book in lancaster mansion be opened?

can the sealed purple book in lancaster mansion be opened?

It can be opened with the right colour: purple
red + blue = purple

Good luck, but save before you touch it.
Just a quick warning concerning a game-breaking bug (contains a minor spoiler about who joins the party and when): Pressing Shift to view weapon details for
Gallian's
Genesis Level 3
at least after he has joined as an Extra Character in the final chapter
resets the game (invalid image format).

  • Thanks for the reply and you're welcome! Seriously, great job =)
Oh, that's good! Looking forward to it =D

Ah, I see! I will do both then. The one I consider closer to my preference latter, haha. I will just save all the extra content for the 2nd playthrough I think! How long do you think it will take me to do the last chapter without any grinding n anything for the 1st ending? -insert thinking emoji-

EDIT: Okay, so I tried. And I really wanna be okay with it, but I just can't. Shouldn't it be the player's choice to do the all the extra content before making that route-branching choice? I can't get to beat the true final boss in my secondary playthrough (I am on hard mode) its so hard-hitting n fast and I am just. I don't wanna do anything extra, as I want to save it for my primary playthrough...
EDIT II: Actually, nevermind. I just watched the other ending on youtube. Thankfully, its the one I wasn't aiming primarily, and while I could only get the gist of what happened, at least that was something haha. I think I am just gonna go with my primary playthrough now.
I just played for 15 minutes and I'm pretty impressed so far. The story seems intriguing, the battle system is cool (the music and that special move really surprised me, in a good way). Now, I saw that you're updating your game (bugfixes and new ending) so it'd be probably smarter to wait before playing in earnest, I guess?

@Raiem: The final boss in hard mode hits a lot harder than the other difficulties. You should do extra stuff to actually gain levels and equips to beat him.

@Grimbo: If you want you can wait, but I still don't know when I'll make a new release. I'm fixing all the bugs and other stuff but it will take some time ^_^
Hey I'm liking the game so far, nice job man!
I think I'm on chapter XI or XII and just wanted to know how close to the game is it?
Also I found a bug, I'm on Halderos, Central Tower and everytime I hit the Weapons button it takes me to the save screen so I can't change weapons. Any info on that?

Keep up the good work! :D

Edit: oh one more thing the animations for the EX skills and the Mastery bar is gone, I can't see it on the fights anymore

Ah nevermind actually, I beat him easily later haha. The other boss in the extra dungeon was hard even at level 99 (where the final boss seems like a baby in comparison) but I managed with the help of some items and all the cool stuff I got from arena, dungeon, forgery, alchemy etc.
I already finished the ending once as you adviced and tbh, good advice. As I am stuck now, finished everything else but can't find 5 gaia shards gah...
Otherwise, the ending was great, got me emotional haha. I don't even know who's my favorite character anymore. Love Seth's character development, Nadia, Alison, Martia, Nion, Rudra, Gallian (daddy), Varnell, Sophet, Elvett. Esp. Varnell, Rudra, Alison, Nion and Seth. Also I appreciate how hot many characters were, haha. Varnell is one hot furry for sure even though I really like Rudra's design as well. Nadia and Alison for cutest.
Horus I like for the most part, but I wish he believed Seth more :/ Tbh the only character I dislike is Mishra and even he has his share of complexity. I am neutral to Nimrod as well, even though his character development ended on a good note.
Gameplay-wise, I really like how everyone had their uses and how you made us use the whole cast. Seth improved a looot throughout. He was always decent, but man was he badass by the end. Nion saved me lots of (grinding) time with his gravity skill, love that man. Martia, hits real hard and can even support very well, also made finding hidden items much easier; amazing. Varnell was really hot even in battle (I don't even know, I have a thing for him I guess.) and Rudra was awesome from start to finish, I love this dude. Ferion got me all the rad treasures, thumbs up for that. Dael had helpful support skills even though she becomes kinda lacking in comparison if you level up to 99 and do all the quests n all. Nadia started very good but somehow got left quite behind as well. I feel like by the end, the critical attacks just become too good so all the physical characters get the edge in there while most spiritual ones start to lag behind (but my man, Nion can shine even then with his great balanced supportive and offensive skills. Nadia was decent but not as good as she started. Her mind crush never hit the bosses so I found it pretty disappointing.
Alison remained very good with her really useful skills.
Gallian remained efficient almost till the end, too.
Sophet became much better than her debut, I was surprised.
Nimrod had his uses. Elvett had her niche. Others were decent too, there wasn't a single unusable character, that's for sure, haha. (This got very long)
Also I saw the credits and man, you really did most stuff by yourself? That's amazing! Great job again.

Thank you! I checked all the places and managed to find one more but I am stuck again... I am pretty sure I got one gaia each in all of the "only then" ones and its somewhere else, but idk, maybe I am not looking hard enough.
Btw, where is Hades and Dark Side of The Moon again?

EDIT: I am not sure if I can find the rest of gaia shards, so I just watched the italian playthrough on youtube, and its basically a puzzle genre chapter I see. If you would like, can you provide me the summary of what happens?

Hades is the top of Halderos City and the Dark Side of the Moon can be found SE of the Citadel in the dark.

I for myself missed one of the Shards in the Extremordeal. I had to check the Italian guide with google translate.

The only way to know for sure is to look at all places again, in order of my list and hope that you missed one of those.

Or wait until the full guide is edited by the dev. I only made the Gaia Shards public.
