The Fable of Gretel is a short 8bit style action game a la The Legend of Zelda. It was originally made in Italian in 2010 for a fable-themed contest on rpg2s.net, where it reached second place. A really minimalistic game, it doesn't take more than a hour to beat. It was a labour of love, and I'm still proud of it after all these years. It has been reworked, and finally translated in English.
Join Hansel and Gretel, unlucky siblings in Fable Land, in their misadventures through forsaken woods, green monsters and odd beasts, all with the help of four items! And I say FOUR!
It's an action game, so expect lots of sword fighting, or, more accurately, running from monsters. It's also chock full of cryptic puzzles, and by "chock full" I mean "there are some". It's still a short game. Also, it's kind of a love letter to the Legend of Zelda series (as you probably already guessed), to whom you'll find lots of shout out, some much more blatant than others.
Characters:
Hansel: A boy with hot boiling blood, Hansel is aggressive in words and sword alike. His attacks are more dangerous, but he is also frailer than his sister.
Gretel: A girl wise beyond her years, Gretel is usually the one with a plan. She is more patient than her brother, and always on the defensive.

Xfixium, for his Zelda tutorials;
Mercury, for the artwork , the betatesting and the endless bickering on that awful puzzle that shall not be named;
Freank, for pushing me into translating the game;
the rpg2s.net community, for thinking "ok, that's nice".
