Two Days Away!

Dear Potato Lovers,

The testing phase took a bit longer than expected, but I'm glad to announce that almost all of those annoying icky bugs have been squished. At the same time, I have some bad news, some good news, and some even better news.

The good news is that I have managed to enable cloud saves for both Eredia 1 and 2. The bad news is that steam achievements might be broken for Eredia 2. I'm at my wits end trying to get them to work, but it just didn't happen the same way it did for Eredia 1.

As for the better news, we finally have a release date, and it's 14th December 2023. I know it's just two days away, but I couldn't commit to a final release date without knowing that I've eliminated all the bugs, at least the ones that we'd discovered.

My one final advice to players would be to play Eredia 1 first, in case you haven't already. Even though it's not necessary to have an Eredia 1 save file to play the sequel, it's a direct continuation of the story right from where it left off, and it'll be a more enjoyable experience to play these games in order.

That's all! See you on 14th.

Cheers,
Rishi

I like the mapping but unfortunately I don't see anything else that sets it apart from the rest. You said you would import custom graphics to the full version so if you can show that in the screenshots that would really boost interest in my opinion. I might try it some time so maybe I'll see something unique, this is just at first glance.

Anyways that's my two cents good luck on the game.

Thanks for your feedback. :)
I thought so too, but I don't have funds to hire a professional artist now, so I am going through tutorials and learning how to draw...
Anyway I put out the demo in a very early stage so that the players can get an idea of the kind of story that will be portrayed. I will add the custom graphics as soon as they are ready, though I can't make promises on any deadline as of yet.
I like the direction your going in your game page. This is definitely going to catch more attention and makes your game stand out a bit more from the rest.

I'm very interested in the new art. hope it turns out well.
Thanks, but the art will take quite some time to be ready since I cannot put deadlines on it.
In the meantime I will be focusing on other aspects of the game.
I also plan on adding unique features and concepts to the game, I will put them up on the home page soon.
The art is looking good, Especially the trees! Good to know you have big plans, but don't get overwhelmed! I'm seeing big improvements so keep on trekking.
Credits for the trees goes to PandaMaru. :)
The plans are pretty big, that is why it will be a long drawn project and won't be completed before next year at least.
Also I am focusing on only one project, so I can put my full effort into this.

The next update will reduce the filesize to around 100MB, so it will be possible for almost anyone to try it out. ^^
Hello.
Interesting project,gonna follow this.

Thank you for reporting.
That error occurs as I changed the filename of a particular image file, but I will fix it in the next update, which I will release in about a week's time.
Anyway, events in the room upstairs do not have much to do with the main storyline or any of the sidequests, so you should still be able to complete the demo as usual. :)
Mapping looks cool, planned features are rich as well!
Gonna try this and let you know what I think. ^_^
Thanks for deciding to try out the game.
I will really appreciate any kind of feedback, positive or negative, so don't hesitate to let me know.
Borderline homosexual expressionless potato! Hahahaha... Ahem... okay.

I had a lot of fun with this game. I played around four hours, mostly doing the main questline (I rarely ever play an RPG for the sidequests). I got to the (SPOILER WARNING) cave during the investigation but wasn't sure how to progress from there. Is it unfinished or am I just an idiot? (END SPOILERS)

Anyway, I'll split this review into two parts: Gameplay and Story.

Gameplay felt very much like a traditional RPG. Which I had no problem with - I love RPGs. The tutorial was amusing to me since I kind of had the basic gist of how things go, but hey, I rarely ever see a tutorial because most people just assume everyone already knows how to play an RPG, so that makes this pretty accessible to newcomers. I also had some thoughts like "Hm, I'd better get a better weapon before going into this cave thing", which I haven't had in a while. The only issue I had was that the difficulty curve outside of the starting area seems to sky rocket. It might be because I'm an impatient moron but due to the lack of enemies in that starting area it was difficult getting up to adequacy for the later areas. That cave horse especially... although I think that was intentional.

As for the story, there were several parts I really liked, and a few I just don't think were for me - which isn't a bad thing, it's just personal preference. The only objective criticism I can offer is that whenever you do finish the game proper, a good editor would be something worthwhile. There were several typos and words like "Cya", which struck me as odd. But that's minor stuff given the focus on other things.

The story, for me, came alive at two points in the game (SPOILER WARNING AGAIN OBVIOUSLY) - the first when Akia is introduced through Vinoche. I liked that personal layer added to the main plot, and it added a decent level of mystery. It made me question what was going on, and where this was headed. I also really liked the theme here - what makes a hero and what makes a hunter. Very good inner conflict that is sure to drive home some emotional and intellectual beats. It also invokes a great sense of identity, and what makes you... you.

The second part I thoroughly enjoyed is something that actually perfectly blends story and gameplay - the investigation. I enjoyed how much of a massive puzzle it all turned out to be, while also being very character and story driven. As I didn't get past the cave bit, I still don't know the answer, but I really liked where it was heading. Things became unpredictable for me there.

OHHH one more thing. I'm not sure as to what's included in MV and what isn't (I have it but haven't played around with it that much yet), but I thought the music was great, and the day/night and clock systems were awesome. Good touches that made the world feel more alive and fleshed out.

Anyway, this is a game that I will be checking up on every once and a while. More than anything I am interested in seeing where this all goes.
Thanks Orgaya for your detailed review, that feedback really helped me.

I am glad you enjoyed playing it, you reached the mid-way point of the demo, I guess.

Typos and some inconsistencies might be present since I am the only editor/writer working on it. But since it was pointed out, I will put extra focus to ensure better writing quality.

Regarding the difficulty, grinding is unnecessary in Eredia, but sometimes sidequests are recommended to be completed to get to the required level and/or get equipment to proceed with the main quests.

The game uses only about 20-30% of MV music, the rest are royalty free music from various talented artists. Props go out to MOGHunter for the clock and the day/night system. :)

I will be releasing an update in less than a week where I will introduce custom character art as well as new interface and additional sidequests and locations to explore.
Subb'd!!! This looks fantastic!! :D I'm loving those character artworks done! :) looking forward for your update ;)
Thanks for all the support. ^^

On an additional note, Eredia is now recruiting testers for the game.
Anyone interested in taking up the role, feel free to message me.
Eredia 1.2.1
Small bug fixes:
- Sargoth acolyte/dialogue will not reappear near the entrance of the pass.
- Fixed the donation bug in Aedelen.
- Removed pixi filters, as users on some operating systems reported compatibility issues with it.
- Fixed some lighting.

Since it is a very small update, I did not bother making a blog entry about it.
This game looks pretty. I have yet to play it. Is going to be available to buy on steam?
Yes it will be available on steam.
Even though I flagged it commercial, I am not sure if I will sell the game itself or if I will release it for free and include micro-transactions instead.

Anyway, you can try downloading the demo and give the game a try, I would love your feedback.
