Stolen Versions Floating Around

So, it turns out that some meanie has taken this project and uploaded it for their own gain on the Google Play store and elsewhere. Let this be a general warning that any versions not downloaded from this website (RMN) are not endorsed by Craze.

Dear Google: I hope my ability to post this can prove my authorship.

I'm glad to see you enjoyed the game for the most part, everyone! After seeing the vid there, I have some comments of my own regarding Creaking.

That battle with She Who Watches was... O_o; >_< *Screams at the sky.* So, I decided to be much more forgiving with my half of the game. I thought the battles would be far less necessary in the castle (which was my part), so I decided to hide a few tricks in my half to take the edge off of the battles. If you turn off your lantern after lighting it, you don't get into fights. Hence the "may draw attention" comment in its description. (I wanted it to activate battles only while it was on, but this was the best I could do in the time I had... I probably should've made it more obvious that it can cause enemies to appear.) You also won't see certain things and will not be able to successfully complete some areas. The thing with the shining Angel's Tear "doing nothing" was a special feature. (You will only find them if Eddiston did not die during the switch puzzle.) I probably should've dropped a hint as to what it does rather than leaving it up to the player to discover. (Oopsie.) If the Guardian of the Gates is gathering energy, it will stop its charge. Otherwise it does nothing. My maze part was mostly bad because it was originally going to have a second puzzle in it. It also looks like I accidently made the encounter rate way too high in the maze... It's supposed to get easier if you turn off the lantern. As you may remember, I got really sick and was useless for a while. I never had the chance to implement the other puzzle before the deadline. I'll add these things in in the extended update.

Anyhow, I'm glad you all seem to enjoy it~! This was also my first attempt at horror, so I'm happy you seemed to like it mostly! However, THAT AWFUL ENCOUNTER RATE ISSUE MUST GO IMMEADIATELY! That was an unforgivable oversight on my end. *Uploads a fixed version and crawls in a hole in embarrassment...*
Edit: Er, I missed the point?? I don't follow... :/ I tried.

I don't mean that as an insult, or a jab, but I did go recently go through a time in my life where people that that I loved were dying one after the other in very shockingly sudden manners. When I saw Craze's half, I realized that he had firsthand experience with something like this. His half had a sense of helplessness and and unwanting acceptance. When you took over, it completely lost its tone, and the emotional impact was entirely gone.

Yeah. I almost feel like this would have been better off as a game within itself rather than something to be passed on to a completely different set of eyes.
...Oh, I see. Sorry for your loss. I don't have that kind of experience, so I guess that showed. I tired hard, but horror really isn't my forte. I was really sick at the time, and looking back at this game, I see my part didn't work out half as well as I wanted it to. *Sigh...* Oh well. I gave it my best shot.
Edit: Was my half that bad? Did I really not do this any justice? Tell me honestly...

My personal opinion is that this was a good experience for you and that there's plenty for you to learn from this event. There was a discussion about this during the livestream where people wondered if you might not have simply been overshadowed by being paired up with a developer like Craze. I personally feel like this was probably one of the best gam mak experiences you could have had because you had the opportunity to see how Craze actually does things. It feels only natural that very few people would actually be able to match Craze. Someone brought up Quest for the Peace the Peace Sword as another example and I think it was completely wrong. To be able to say "I made a game that isn't broken," is a very important thing to be able to say. That you successfully completed a Craze project is a big thing to be able to say, that it lost its tone notwithstanding. Was your half frustrating? Yes. Was the ending a little dissatisfying? To a few people such as myself, yes. But it worked. It meshed. It didn't mesh perfectly, but it meshed. And you have that experience to look back on, and that is really cool.

EDIT: Just saw your edit. No, it wasn't that bad. It had a few bad moments. It kind of let me down. It could definitely use some work, but it was good. I'd get rid of those disclaimers, though.
I did mention later on in the stream that despite the issues that the game had, it at the end felt like you tried to match the tone of it and while it might have been better in more experienced hands, it still meshed well with the overall presentation. The subtleties and experience will come with time, but for being new to game making you did very well to round out the project like you did. You've learned a few things about what not to do which is great, and you got a neat little look into the workings of a more experienced creator, too, which I'm sure gave you a lot of ideas.

You're actually getting a somewhat unfair rap, because we're not just looking at your half of the game for its own merits. We're comparing it to Craze, and that isn't entirely fair. I mean, we have to compare you to Craze because it is also his game, with his hand in it, and that is one of the elements of the livestream discussions: "What would I have done if I had gotten this game?" And of course, when that question comes into play, it's only inevitable that we start talking about what we didn't like, because then we start to say things like "oh, he did this! That's a terrible idea. If I had gotten the game, I'd have done this, instead!" As a result, criticisms will be quite a bit more harsh than is really fair.

But, on the other hand, it's a good thing to get your project torn apart, because by finding out what's wrong, that's where you really start to learn. There's an old saying: nobody learns from success.
Thanks, guys. I'm having serious mixed feelings right now. I did ask you guys to be honest, and I appreciate it. (I'm actually not as new to game making as my makerscore might make me seem, BTW. Just very glitch-prone...) I will take your suggestions to heart and keep on improving~!

Don't worry too much, Subzero. I've been making games for many years and I think I would have had trouble doing Craze's half justice. The subject of loss of loved ones is hard to tackle, and pulling it off requires a subtle touch. I still think you did well with your half. ^_^
Thanks for the encouraging words.:) I won't give up so easily. I'm nothing if not persistent!
Short silent RPG. Loss of party members seemed unavoidable. Took too long to figure out the puzzle with the 5 buttons. With an avoidable party member loss, it'd be mandatory to redo that puzzle and keep the party member, given how hard the final boss was. Battles were pointless, and I had lucky crits on the bosses, difficulty was probably high if I didn't get the crits.
