Washed up on a beach, with no identity or memories. Everything you see is sepia-toned, giving the world a lifeless appearance. The forest before you is empty except for the bleached skulls in the grass, the town beyond is quiet and lifeless, and in the far distance you can see a foreboding ebony tower jutting into the sky. Why are you here, and what happened to the people who lived here?

Unfortunately, given I lack Pizza's amazing art talents, all I could really do was to add a short bit of story to it. It could probably have been expanded on even more, but I felt that trying to hackney some more sprites and tiles to what Pizza made would only have made the whole thing worse.
Hey, just gave this a playthrough.
Honestly, I set up the first half as being initially vague and ending at a doorway so that the next person could radically change basically everything and get away with it. I'm glad you defied those expectations though, and honestly, the decision to loop the maps I made was something I never thought about at all- but it worked!
It was pretty cool, all in all. Very reminiscent of the artsy shit I used to make last year.

It honestly reminded me a lot of Betrayer, and I was so tempted to have a similar thing with bright red enemies on the maps, but my spriting skills weren't up to the task of replicating your style unfortunately.
Just gave this a shot. I can't really say I know how to respond to it, but adding that repeating narrative on the second half was a clever idea!

Yeah, I would like to have expanded it further with some actual gameplay, right now it really is just Pizza's awesome spritework with a bit of my story glommed on top :P
