Part of the RPG Maker Classics Archive: an initiative to upload classic RM games so they are not forgotten.

Developed by: Kamau
Date of Release: 2002-2004

Legion Saga III is a fantasy game set in a medieval world on the brink of war. It is regarded as one of the classic games of the early 2k era, like it's prequels, Legion Saga and Legion Saga II. It follows the story of Kima, a disgraced warrior who decides to restore his homeland to its former glory. Difficulties arise, though, when another faction within the country rise up and causes a civil war at the same time as the country is under siege. With a large cast of characters, the game was quite well-received by most people.

Legion Saga III was made in RM2K and focuses on creating an experience similar to the Suikoden series of games, where collecting an army of people together in order to wage war against a corrupt government is a staple. Many people enjoyed the fresh twist it gave to typical jRPG stories, of which there are many.

The graphics are a mix of RTP, custom and rips, and the clash of graphics can be quite a bit disconcerting sometimes. This is a symptom of the time in which it was made, though, as most attention was focussed on the story and systems of the game instead of looks. The game boasts three types of battle systems - normal jRPG battles, one-on-one duels and larger-scale war battles. There was also a card game included in some versions, though it appears that version is lost to time. It also has a save carry feature with the second game of the series, allowing unlockable secrets when you copy your save file from Legion Saga II (which can lead to extra unlockable secrets if the save file from Legion Saga was carried over as well).

If you can get past the clash of graphics and some of the out-dated design sensibilities you may find yourself enjoying the game quite a bit.

This version has the card game, extra sidequests, bug fixes and a lot of extras. Thanks to Eike for providing this version!

Does a walkthrough for this game exists where all recruitable NPCs are listed?
I missed some even though I searched each place multiple times.

One missing would be the card master.

One curious bug:
Kima told Lisa to stay at the Castle but I couldn't release her from the team. So I was able to watch both sides of the avalon commentars.

The game crashed two times:
First when sleeping in Koosta before meeting Ridman
Second after the boss battle in V. (fallen God) keep.
Aremen
Then the LORD Aremen said unto Zack, "Behold, I will rain gams from Heaven for you; and the people shall go out and play a certain rate every day, that I may prove them, whether they will walk in My maps, or no." - 3TileRule 4:16, Holy Help File

New download added with bug fixes and extra bits (the Cardico game and some side-quests). Check the details of the download page to see all the fixes. The new download also comes with a lot of extras included in it (as well as a comprehensive walkthrough, which I've also added to the page.)

Also, a recruitment page is up with details on how to recruit each character.
I've sorta of seen Legion Saga somewhere... but never played the series (least not that I remember). Was there only three? Also the download. Which one is the new one..v3 has a newer date, but less data, so I'm not sure what I'm looking at.

V3 is the new one (hence why it replaced the older version as the main download) and very likely the less size is due to stripping files that weren't necessary.
Restarted the game with V3, but stuck at the first battle at Mogosta.
Each entry for attack etc. has no effect and it is round 1 and round 1...
So this is a bit funny, but I should have read the instructions that this one did not have a save transfer. I ended up jumping behind this guy's shop with the LS2 save, and with the LS1 save I landed in this beast man village.

I thought share that...oops on part. lol.

My try broke the game! XD
I tried to find the version with the battle patch myself but couldn't find it.
Please patch the bug because saves of version 3 don't work on older versions.

Same here! Quite desperate because I tried to rush through the Saga and now I have to quit because of this bug :( :( :(
Then we should open it in editor and well... fix it, to teleport right to next event.
EDIT:

According to a poster from 2005-

Haha sorry to seem to only post when it relates to Legion Saga, but if interested, I have a copy of LS3 v3. One thing about it though is that, because of the first war problem that people may have encountered if they have version3 of this game, is that I edited one map so that it teleports you into the scene AFTER a successful first war. So it skips over the first war and the new LS3 war system tutorial.

I have tried it up to that point, and it works fine. I did not change anything else in the game, so all of the other features SHOULD be fine.
Did this work for the other battles too? When yes, please contact Liberty, who is working on a solution at this time. You found him as a poster in LS I.
cant get past first war battle

please post solution
What is the issue exactly and from where does it begin. Just telling me it doesn't work won't help me fix it.

So, what is the map exactly before the issue starts?
What is the event that happened before then?

It's the issue I PM you and send you the save. The save is the last opportunity before the big battle begins. Just go up into the city and talk to the leader in the house in the middle north. After some events the battle starts but you can't enter anything - the troops just clash into another but nothings happens.
Kaliesto seems to have a solution.
if he's not gonna post his solution can we get the version that works
I repeat: the person who made this game is way out of the gamemaking game. He no longer creates games. This was hosted up on the site using a special account. Any edits to the game are done in my own off-time. Know that it's not my game and I don't know it inside out like the creator - who is no longer around - would.

There IS no other version that works.
EDIT: To get v3 to operate properly and to NOT get stuck at the Mogosta battle you will have to download both versions of the game. Copy the common event from version one (event number 31 in the list) and paste it into the v3 common events in the same spot it was copied from. Then go to the map "Barbatta's Watch" and edit the 3rd to last line of the event to "Variable Ch:Set,138"

Now you will be taken to a functional v1 version of the Mogosta battle that is completable, rather than the never-finished v3 version of the battle. You will still be unnecessarily taken to the generals selection menu which does nothing for the v1 version of the Mogosta battle, to get around this you can simply change the even that warps you to the generals menu map to take you to the Mogosta v1 map, though I haven't got around to doing this yet.

This allows you to experience v3 in full without being taken to the uncompleted v3 version of the war!

I repeat:

You talks like a person who NEVER played Legion Saga 3. Shame, Liberty.
I've played it and completed it. Version 1 worked fine for me, it just doesn't have all the additions. Doesn't mean I know it inside and out, though.
