Thoughtful, Charming, Beautiful.

This is the first Rm2k3 game I've played in a long time.

The Huntress of the Hollow
is a relatively short game, but that doesn't take away from its breathtakingly beautiful, intricate, handmade graphics. The menu screens, cutscene drawings, tilesets, and in-battle animations are fantastic. It uses a simple color scheme, and surprises you with more unsettling colors as you travel farther into the forest and flee from an ever-growing horde of bloodthirsty wolves. Even faced with danger, you almost want to stay lost in the forest for how lovely it is.

The village folk are each their own person, and I wish I got to talk to all of them more. The Smith especially was admirable and just--I wanted to stick by her side the whole way. And Lenora's mother--how can you resist wanting to hold her hand and tell her everything's gonna be okay? As the game progresses, the tone and overhanging feeling of dread ramps up higher and higher, accentuated by the game's gorgeous design. However, even as a remake of a timeless fairytale with a twist, the story is fairly simple and predictable.

It's easy to tell at a glance that this game has a lot of love and hard work put into it. This game is a true work of art, and super fun to play. I was never bored for a second. As an aspiring indie dev, I feel like I could learn a thing or two from this game. I'm definitely going to try the other games by this developer. Well worth the download.

Give it a try! Go hunt some wolves!

You're very welcome, keep up the great work!!!
I'm surprised there's no mention of music. The melody playing along with the title screen is amazing :o
