Heroes of Shaola is a role-playing game that blends epic fantasy and medieval realism, set in a corrupted world where moral ambiguity reigns. Shattering the line between good and evil, the game emphasizes story and characters, while incorporating an enjoyable and user-friendly gameplay system.

In a time of chaos and corruptions, mighty forces clash behind the scenes in a struggle for power and influence. A young paladin is trying to survive in a dark world filled with compelling actions, drama and political incorrectness, while opposing factions are trying their best to outwit each other.

Zenman Empire is the largest nation in the world. It is located in the central region and surrounded by the bloodthirsty Martia Kingdom (formerly the Martia Tribes) in the north, the deceptively powerful Amazail Kingdom in the south, and the unpredictable House Lagidis in the west.

Each year, the vassal factions must pay a tribute with gifts, weapons, women, and gold to the Zenman.

Its capital city, Zalumi, has been protected by the four most powerful noble families. Those four families are the Sutherlands, the Pantelakos, the Totens, and the Rileys.

One morning, Leonardo, the only child of the Sutherlands, was nowhere to be found. His mysterious disappearance shocked the nation.

Meanwhile, in the north, Martia Kingdom has been staring at Zalumi for years. The Amazailian are also lurking around from the south.

Both are growing tired of being a vassal nation. They are tiring of paying tributes to the Zenman Empire.

They have been watching Zalumi like a hawk, waiting for a chance to take action.

Sources from the Iron Eagle, the mysterious organization from Zuda Kingdom, revealed that Martia and Amazail have been trying to form an alliance.

The once great Zenman Empire is suddenly facing two big threats from the north and south.

• An engaging story with unexpected plot twists.

• Zelda-like jump, slash the bushes, explore secret paths and find extra loot.

• Final Fantasy-like battle system, but with visible enemies. No random encounters or invisible monsters. Bandits and aggressive beasts will approach you. Less aggressive opponents will leave you alone, unless you initiate the attack.

• Grinding is unnecessary. All you need to do to win is be careful with each decision, look out for quests and hidden secrets, manage your money (buy/sell) wisely, and use your skills, items, and potions carefully.

• The plots and dialogues are managed carefully in order to bring each character to life.

• No Game Over. We all know how much time we spent dying on games and it's the most frustrating thing in the world.

• Multiple endings based on many variables, including dialogue choices and subtle triggers.

Thank you for your kind words. I'm glad you like the game. The game is still under development.

We have been discussed about giving away free copies of this game exclusively for the rpgmaker.net community, but we still don't know how are we going to do that yet.

If you interested in the Shaola series, you may want to play this game too: https://rpgmaker.net/games/8437/

We divided our team out to work on the two projects separately. At the present, I'm pretty much working on Heroes of Shaola all day. Hopefully it will get done soon.

Cheers!

demo was awesome :) one question though where can I buy full game?
I was playing on Normal mode.

May I ask what difficulty (Easy, Normal, Hard or Legendary) are you playing at?
In the latest version (0.2), the Haunted Mushroom have been divided to 3 different kinds and they'll be less powerful. The Blightcap specialized in delivering ailments and bad states. The Sleepycap specialized in making you sleepy and delivering more painful physical damage. The Redcap is a poisonous mushroom that specialized in poison.

In realistic play, the Blightcap is the most deadly of the trio and you'll probably want to eliminate them first.

But basically, when you have a powerful guy like Raphael in your party, in Easy or Normal mode, you should be able to beat 'em up. Especially if you drink the Energizer or have been farming around to build up Raphael's Anger skill (Fist of Fury).

I was playing on Normal mode.
Hint: The "Guard" option in the battle will build up your Anger pretty fast. You can use the Anger skill of that character when your Anger points are 100. Anger skill is the most powerful skill of a particular character. Some characters have it, some don't, some haven't learn it yet. Most badass characters in the game have it.
How many hours is this game? Graphics remind me ALOT of the game dink smallwood and I loved dink smallwood.
We don't know for sure yet, since the game isn't finished. But based on what have been done so far, it probably contains at least 10 hours of comprehensive gameplays, not counting the side quests and exploration.

The game series will focus on nostalgic feeling. We're trying to bring back the players' childhood with some improvement on the plots and story.

Thanks for your compliment. I'm sorry that you were late, lol. I'm happily waiting for your review.
I like the story, plotlines and characters so far. I also enjoy the battle and the simplicity of it. Keep it up!
Game was kinda basic, but interesting. Couldnt get pass the 4 orcs after many tries. They get too much random crits and stuns into my party, which was basically 1 guy and a weakling that immediately gets twoshotted. This download was only a demo anyway so...
You can try go to the Menu and set game difficulty to "Easy". Make sure to kill the single Orc first, to loot for better weapons and boost up Raphael's Anger, save his Anger skill for the hard fights. Utilize everything (skills, anger, items) during those tough fights.
