Over two hundred years ago, the five heroes defeated the god of darkness; Ragnarok, in a climactic struggle for the fate of the world. Banished back to the realm of darkness known as the Abyss, the threat of the evil god had finally been put to rest once and for all...or so they thought.

Umbral Soul follows the story of Ragnarok’s loyal servant, Pandora, who joins her master in a quest to conquer the world and reclaim his lost power. In order to shroud the world in eternal darkness, they will have to find and recruit new allies, build an army of powerful monsters, and raise a force strong enough to crush anyone who dares to oppose them. Heroes, generals and rival overlords all stand against them. Do you have the power to make the world yours?

Pandora
A powerful dark sorceress with the ability to call forth monsters from the Abyss and enslave them to her will. Her burning hatred for the world and its people leads her to follow Ragnarok with unwavering loyalty.

Ragnarok
The god of darkness, who seeks dominion over the human realm. Once an extremely powerful being in the form of a monstrous demon, he has now been reduced to a mere soul. He wishes to plunge the entirety of the human realm into darkness, in part out of spite for his counterpart; the goddess of light, Lumielle.

Lanith
Beautiful, deadly, and self absorbed to a tee, Lanith is a succubus with a never ending hunger for the lifeforce of men. Having served under Pandora since she was only a child, she has a knack for getting under her skin, and does so whenever the opportunity arises.

Damien
A deeply twisted and sadistic young man, Damien loves nothing more than manipulating others and watching them squirm. While he has kept his true nature a secret, Ragnarok’s uprising marks the perfect opportunity for him to cut loose and have some fun...by killing as many enemies as possible.

Azrielle
The lord of all demons, who is fiercely loyal to Ragnarok and possesses an extreme, seething hatred for humanity. After failing to aid his master in conquering the world the first time, he has no intention of repeating the same mistakes again.

I'm back, baby!

Hey everybody, hope you've been doing well. I'm pleased to say I was just recently discharged from rehab, so at long last after over a month I'm home. They ran a whole lot of tests on me and I had several surgeries, so I am finally no longer in danger of croaking. That means I'm finally free to double down on game development, when I'm not stuck sitting in some doctor's office that is. Thank you all for your well wishes, they went a long way towards improving my mental health through that strenuous time. Welp, that's enough chatter. I've got some game making to do.

Hey thanks, having that many people play my game is a little frightening to be honest. I thought only a handful would be interested, but I guess playing as a baddie is a more popular concept than I thought. By the way, Terrarium still remains my favorite rpg maker game to this day, so thanks for sharing it.

It's more the way the game is I think... it's hard to describe haha.

And oh? Awesome! Glad my simple little game can hold itself up. Knowing other people enjoy playing makes it all worth it and me happy. xD
It's surprising I could finally get a game finished, just started off with a cool thought for a battle system and it went from there. All the things I like in a game rolled into one.
Thanks for the answers, WheelmanZero, dd33!

WheelmanZero, regarding certain battle
Athena's second battle - i noticed the comment about not being able to win, but i thought there would be more monologue and if we last long enough, either the dudes would come to the resque, or Athena would reveal some weekness to exploit. I replayed the final part of the game, and wining with level-uped (so she has the nebulous field spell) Demora is extremely easy, it feels like cheating, out of curiousity i tried wining without Demora, and almost managed rotating Mira, Darkle and Catastrophe.

Oh, minor curiousity i noticed - if Damien is "killed" while doing the marionette spell, not only marionette stays, but if you revive Damien he can do another one, while the first one still goes.

I mentioned Mira and Hilda, because Mira is the most unhappy with her summon status and with Pandora, and with Hilda i think she would be working under Gryger.

If you don't mind, my, probably very wrong, speculation about what happens in the sequel (but if you think it is annoying i would edit it out):

-Nebra will be in the heroes party. She has some earth-related dark magic.
-Hilda is working under king Gryger. Not sure whether he is a bad boss who only belittles her when she loses to the heroes, or a not-so-bad boss who is pissed when she falls (after replaying the final part and have him in the party when fighting Odin the second time, i lean towards the latter). Maybe they already started expansion to the other continents and thats how the sequel begins.
-We have to fight Rosalin's mutated insane daddy (because Markus tries to tell something about what happenes with vampires when they have too much power) who was sealed in the restricted area of her castle
-Vampire castle becomes the headquarters? They have all those red circles there.
-To restore Ragnarok Pandora has to sacrifice her life (and knows it from the begining), Lanith agrees to aid the heroes when she finds out.
-Pandora can fuse with Draconus like Perseus did.
-Have to fight puppet citizens of Reddin.
-Grelda tries to sacrifice herself for Azrielle. There is a new demon lord in the end, whether Azrielle lives or dies.
-Heroes have to ally with the rich folk of that mansion - in exchange for freeing their daughter from Talon
-Athena was imprisoned after the fight. Perseus and (somehow) Odin escaped, will get called out for their and the king's bs by the heroes (at least i hope so)
-Final confrontation happens either in that volcano area or in the place where pandora's village used to be
Hey SB, good to hear from you again!

I most assuredly agree that Demora's skills are ridiculous, so she's received a big fat nerf for the next version. Nebulous Field now protects 1 character for 2 turns, instead of everyone for 1 turn. I'm impressed you almost managed to beat Athena without Demora's broken reflect spell. You must've been at a pretty decent level.

Oh, that's a glitch I hadn't heard of until now. Fortunately, there's an easy fix for it. I have a handy script that triggers a common event when a certain character dies. All I have to do is remove any puppet-based states from all combatants when Damien dies and boom! Bug zapped! Thanks for the tip off. As for your predictions, I'm going to respond to them via pm to avoid extreme, blatant, irrevocable spoilerocity.
WheelmanZero, i havent decided whether i want spoilers or i would rather go into the game spoiler-free, so i will postpone reading for now.

to be honest, I think i just got lucky when fighting Athena that time, although i did grind to see what skills some of the summons i barely used have.

I actually wonder how marionette spell works from the characters perspective in-universe - i imagine someone like Azrielle wouldnt be happy with it,lol.
I personally think you'll enjoy it more if you go in spoiler free. Not very many characters are fond of being used as puppets, and I imagine it would be an amusing sight to see when used on a summon. Seeing Damien puppeteering a giant squid would be absolutely priceless.
Until today I have finished this game 2 times. I realy loved it and I come here every day to see new updates about the Definitive Edition or the sequel. So I want to ask you: can you give me a date for the Definitive Edition?

Also, just now I beated Athena in the castle with just Pandora and Hilda. Realy curious about the additions that the Definitive Edition will have for this outcome
If there's one thing I've learned about myself, it's that I am terribly, horribly, unbelievably bad at meeting release dates, so I wouldn't want to get your hopes up for nothing. But hey, there's no need to check in every day. Once the game is finished, I'll make a blog post about it. As long as you're subscribed, it'll be pretty much impossible to miss. That battle will be a bit tougher than before since you'll no longer be able to spam Pandora's group heal, and Demora's been nerfed, so if you really want to see what changes, you'll have to bust your evil booty a bit harder. Thanks for your patience DM, and everybody in general!
Thanks for your response to my question. I just created this account for being able to comment here so I didin't knew that subscribing was a opition. Gonna do that now.
Im still waiting this game more than i wait some AAA games announced at E3 haha, i did not know i could subscribe, where do i do that? Thanks!
Should be a star at the top of the game page. That says Subscribe.
im notice there demora spell mirror magic on enemy is very cheats i mean we coud easly kill final boss mabre in ubtate remove it

ihave need help to find semarios idea damien last performace is hard to put because 70 tp is not easy in seren cast coud you put syntese feature and what will be dark crystal in seren cast do
How about "Umbral Soul: Beyond Redemption" for the Ultimate Edition's title? That should be fitting considering the game's setting as well as its potential players. Or maybe even "Umbral Soul: Beyond Redemption - Dawning Doomsday 33" in case someone didn't get the venomous allusion.
but the main charac ;pandora will had potentiel redemption and why a new title for just a ubtate
Being trolled and not getting it - that's even worse than just being trolled.
