Over two hundred years ago, the five heroes defeated the god of darkness; Ragnarok, in a climactic struggle for the fate of the world. Banished back to the realm of darkness known as the Abyss, the threat of the evil god had finally been put to rest once and for all...or so they thought.

Umbral Soul follows the story of Ragnarok’s loyal servant, Pandora, who joins her master in a quest to conquer the world and reclaim his lost power. In order to shroud the world in eternal darkness, they will have to find and recruit new allies, build an army of powerful monsters, and raise a force strong enough to crush anyone who dares to oppose them. Heroes, generals and rival overlords all stand against them. Do you have the power to make the world yours?

Pandora
A powerful dark sorceress with the ability to call forth monsters from the Abyss and enslave them to her will. Her burning hatred for the world and its people leads her to follow Ragnarok with unwavering loyalty.

Ragnarok
The god of darkness, who seeks dominion over the human realm. Once an extremely powerful being in the form of a monstrous demon, he has now been reduced to a mere soul. He wishes to plunge the entirety of the human realm into darkness, in part out of spite for his counterpart; the goddess of light, Lumielle.

Lanith
Beautiful, deadly, and self absorbed to a tee, Lanith is a succubus with a never ending hunger for the lifeforce of men. Having served under Pandora since she was only a child, she has a knack for getting under her skin, and does so whenever the opportunity arises.

Damien
A deeply twisted and sadistic young man, Damien loves nothing more than manipulating others and watching them squirm. While he has kept his true nature a secret, Ragnarok’s uprising marks the perfect opportunity for him to cut loose and have some fun...by killing as many enemies as possible.

Azrielle
The lord of all demons, who is fiercely loyal to Ragnarok and possesses an extreme, seething hatred for humanity. After failing to aid his master in conquering the world the first time, he has no intention of repeating the same mistakes again.

I'm back, baby!

Hey everybody, hope you've been doing well. I'm pleased to say I was just recently discharged from rehab, so at long last after over a month I'm home. They ran a whole lot of tests on me and I had several surgeries, so I am finally no longer in danger of croaking. That means I'm finally free to double down on game development, when I'm not stuck sitting in some doctor's office that is. Thank you all for your well wishes, they went a long way towards improving my mental health through that strenuous time. Welp, that's enough chatter. I've got some game making to do.

is there any ability list that shows all learnable spells and abilities ? im leveling up all my monsters and demons just for fun and post level 30 i dont see anyone getting any abilitie, at what level does each monster/character acquire its last ability?
Nah, I haven't included a pokedex, although I would consider adding one if people think it would be useful. Most playable characters finish learning all their skills around the early 20's. A lot of the summons have very small move pools, mostly because I was running out of ideas for new skills.

oh ok, usually i find 4-6 abilities per summon an 6-9 per character ( damien and pandora have the most :D ). if you need any help with the sequel in future i would gladly assist ^^ i always wanted to make an rpg with someone. I think im quite creative with abilities and spells so i could help in that field XD
Thanks Jay, but I feel like this is something I need to do on my own. This game is my baby, so I feel like I need to do things like this myself. Otherwise it feels it's less "mine", y'know? But hey, I certainly appreciate the offer.

i get that, no worries ^^
is there a list with all sidequests? or at least a list with the missable ones?

One list of sidequests coming up. If you need help figuring out how to start them, just let me know.

The baker's fiancée
Grelda's Kidnapping
Azrielle vs the kyubirin
Noire's request
The little girl lost in the woods
Damien and the necromancers
The hornet queen in Palnea Woods
The plant monster in Timbershade Woods
The kraken in gullivin
The legendary monster egg
Evolve Draconus to his final form (not sure this one even counts)
Also, opening the chest in Marcus' room in Lindale will unlock a scenario

If I remember correctly, the only sidequests that become incompletable are locked after you complete the Demon's Gauntlet, at which point you're pretty much at the end of the game. Those include the legendary monster egg quest (if you haven't already talked to the nun at the tamer's school after obtaining your castle), and... Wait, now that I think about it, that's the only one. Everything else can be completed as long as you don't enter the capital, which is the point of no return.
Okay thank you very much.So looks like I'm fine so far because I already did the egg quest.

Awesome game so far :)
How to find the darkness point? I find it a little hard to search it. I only managed to find one so far.
You'll be given more darkness points as you complete main quests, but you can get even more by bringing specific items to the Ebony Cauldron. Several of these items are rewards from completing certain sidequests, but there are others too.

If you open the treasure chest in Marcus' room in Lindale before it's destroyed, you'll get an item that can be turned into DP. If you missed that one, don't worry, there should still be enough DP in the game to evolve everything.

You can buy a dark magic amulet from the shop in Vallwin, which can be exchanged for DP.

Let me know if you need anything else, and happy hunting! Oh, and thank you for the compliment, Lhetos.
I just cried from mixture of emotions while reading serenes grace, il die if i dont find out what happens next and how the story ends pls any spoilers or previews?
I can tell you if you like, but it might end up spoiling things in the future. I'd advise against it, but if you really want to know, I can send you a message if you're still curious after you've beaten the game.

Yes pls, i wont mind a few spoilers i simply MUST know what happens next, just dont spoil the final ending/battle, I dont want to go that far XD
Hey, so, in the ultimate edition, I was wondering if some of the character portraits would be spruced up? Ones like the demon maids who are very fuzzy and blurry, or Pandora's 'overshadowed' face, which looks like someone just used a black brush on the top layer of the portrait, trying to avoid covering some of her hair, leaving gaps. It was always one of my small nitpicks with the game, the inconsistent portrait quality. It was just something I was curious about. It's not a massive deal though, I still love the game. It's easily in my top 5 RPG maker games.

Yeah, 11/10 game for me, but the maid faces and Pandora's mom really need a second visit, imho.
Oh believe me, I would love nothing more than to clear up the blurriness of those pics. I've tried everything I can think of, but I can't seem to find a photo editor that can get the job done. When I first made the game, I was using the now apparently dead Fotoflexer.com, but now I'm using Gimp and Befunky.com. The newest version of Gimp however, actually makes pics more blurry when you resize them. Oh woe is me.

If anyone could suggest a better photo editor or some alternate means of sharpening up those pics, I would be eternally grateful. By the by, I'm glad you guys had a good time with the game in spite of its...uh...flaws. Let's call them flaws.

The photo editor I use personally is Pixlr. It might be daunting at first, since it's comparable to Photoshop, but it's well worth learning. It's totally free, and can be used in your browser if you don't want to download it. FYI, it doesn't seem to like Mozilla Firefox all too well. If you need a rundown on how to do stuff with the program, I'm happy to help, friend. :)
That would be the bee's knees, bro! I'd appreciate it.
This is game really good so far btw I am stuck on a quest to get the tamer license anyways I leveled up my slime to level 10 the maximum is goes but I can't beat the guys dragon.

I also wanted to ask my main character is currently level 25 will I be able to learn new skills beyond that number?
