Over two hundred years ago, the five heroes defeated the god of darkness; Ragnarok, in a climactic struggle for the fate of the world. Banished back to the realm of darkness known as the Abyss, the threat of the evil god had finally been put to rest once and for all...or so they thought.

Umbral Soul follows the story of Ragnarok’s loyal servant, Pandora, who joins her master in a quest to conquer the world and reclaim his lost power. In order to shroud the world in eternal darkness, they will have to find and recruit new allies, build an army of powerful monsters, and raise a force strong enough to crush anyone who dares to oppose them. Heroes, generals and rival overlords all stand against them. Do you have the power to make the world yours?

Pandora
A powerful dark sorceress with the ability to call forth monsters from the Abyss and enslave them to her will. Her burning hatred for the world and its people leads her to follow Ragnarok with unwavering loyalty.

Ragnarok
The god of darkness, who seeks dominion over the human realm. Once an extremely powerful being in the form of a monstrous demon, he has now been reduced to a mere soul. He wishes to plunge the entirety of the human realm into darkness, in part out of spite for his counterpart; the goddess of light, Lumielle.

Lanith
Beautiful, deadly, and self absorbed to a tee, Lanith is a succubus with a never ending hunger for the lifeforce of men. Having served under Pandora since she was only a child, she has a knack for getting under her skin, and does so whenever the opportunity arises.

Damien
A deeply twisted and sadistic young man, Damien loves nothing more than manipulating others and watching them squirm. While he has kept his true nature a secret, Ragnarok’s uprising marks the perfect opportunity for him to cut loose and have some fun...by killing as many enemies as possible.

Azrielle
The lord of all demons, who is fiercely loyal to Ragnarok and possesses an extreme, seething hatred for humanity. After failing to aid his master in conquering the world the first time, he has no intention of repeating the same mistakes again.

I'm back, baby!

Hey everybody, hope you've been doing well. I'm pleased to say I was just recently discharged from rehab, so at long last after over a month I'm home. They ran a whole lot of tests on me and I had several surgeries, so I am finally no longer in danger of croaking. That means I'm finally free to double down on game development, when I'm not stuck sitting in some doctor's office that is. Thank you all for your well wishes, they went a long way towards improving my mental health through that strenuous time. Welp, that's enough chatter. I've got some game making to do.

dasgibtesnet- Ha! With all your crazy ideas you should make your own game. It would no doubt be horribly imbalanced but fun.

Meh mapping is to much work to do... I am far to lazzy to actually do that... (still traumatized from my attemps all those hours years ago.... and never even close to vanilla standarts... orz)

I will rather leave the game making to the ones motivated and tal- er hardworking enough people like you. ;) (Talent doesn't mean you don't work hard after all.)

And imbalanced.... just cause you need catastrophe and level 70 vanilla pandora at least to beat my athena doesn't mean it's imbalanced... it's quite well balanced for my own set of modification... though bad luck can kill ya instantly. (Introduced Shadow Shelling [50% protection against everything 2 turns for 150MP and 15TP, no movement restriction and D-Mendic, D-Mend all, 200MP, 5%HP and 30TP for her after all.... (though it isn't pandoras move the last one, altough she can earn it.... ;) [Made it so, that she learns some moves of certain pets once they reach for an example level 40 like Cthulhu than she can learn a dark magic version of poseidon wave, in draconus case level 20 and 40 fireball and inferno (with a certain colour change and stuff like that... i looked up how I planned to do something old for that... ^_^)

Also there is a suggestion I want to make regarding leveling summons:
Why not make some monsters in the castles prison fightable and give them a common event, that gives every single possible summon %EXP or everyone for that?
It could surely help people level up a bit, if it's handled well.... the idea only just came to me, so didn't think of any downsides yet
Last Rose- Well that's just bizarre. Does it give you any kind of error message when you download it? Have you tried downloading both versions? If worst comes to worst, you can send me an email address through a private message and I'll try emailing it to you.

Kodek- Wow, that's some seriously high praise! I'm thrilled you had such a good time, it seems making this game was truly worth the effort. Since I didn't run through the game with every possible combination (which would be completely insane) I didn't find some of the crazy combos players have been discovering. I definitely agree that enemies could use some boosting, particularly bosses. Nothing that would make them insanely hard mind you, just an increase to their stats so they can last longer and dole out more punishment.

I'm already working on the F7 glitch, but that party swapping issue is something I'll have to look into as well. Thanks for letting me know.

To be honest I haven't played that many rpg maker games from start to finish, but I can give you a few recommendations from my limited experience. Terrarium https://rpgmaker.net/games/9202/ is one of my favorate rpg maker games, with a great story, fun combat, and an addictive skill learning system. It's the only rpg maker game where I was motivated enough to almost hit max level.

In Search of Immortality https://rpgmaker.net/games/5132/ is another good one. It's relatively short but the characters are bursting with personality and the combat is very fun, with a few potentially game-breaking strategies.

If you can spare some cash,The Wooden Ocean https://rpgmaker.net/games/8852/?p=2#posts has a crazy amount of lore, as well as an extremely dark storyline. It's an open world dungeon crawler with tons of dungeons to explore and plenty of bosses that will whoop your but if you aren't prepared. What's more, it is continually being updated to include more and more content.

dasgibtesnet- The monster tournament in Arcfall was meant to be the player's main means of grinding up experience for summons, not from the fights themselves but from the demon's draughts you get as a reward. Of course, that was only meant to get the summons' level on par with the party due to the level curve. Mainly it's just so each summon can reach its final evolutionary level, at which point it would be useful for the rest of the game. Healing, summoning tidal waves, creating infernos, brewing thunderstorms, summoning an army of monsters...if Pandora was as powerful as you made her, she'd be a goddess. She'd probably be able to kick both Lumielle and Ragnarok's butts single-handedly.
Soo how to pass melody puzzle in vampire castle?
Also mini bug bought necklace but it does not show up in equipment. Marcus has mp regen though.
That puzzle seems to be stumping a lot of people. Click the show tab to see the solution.

The order of the orbs is shown as follows.

1 2 3 == 4 5 6

Do the following 6 combinations in the following order.

4 3 4 1 4 5

The dark magic amulet will appear under your key items, so it can't actually be equipped. It'll serve a purpose later though, trust me. Thanks for letting me know about that regen, it looks like it's attached to the Staff of Storms. Marcus isn't supposed to have mp regen, so it'll be removed in the next version. Hope you're having fun otherwise.
I have played (and paid for) a lot of rpgmaker games over the years. In fact, your game beats, by far, the vast majority of commercial rpgmaker games available on Steam. While this one has a few kinks that you're ironing out, I have to say that it might be one of my all time favorites. There's just so much originality--from graphics to story to character abilities. I haven't quite finished yet--probably stalling because I'm going to be very sad when I get to the end :D

Consider this a tip from someone whom was equally enthusiastic about this great game; there's quite a few scenario's and side-quests well worth unlocking. Since I wasn't sure how many side-quests there were, I asked about it a while back. The reply contains some spoilers, but if you want to make sure to get all of the fun (considering you're nearing the end), here it is:

Reinhart and the Necronomicon

Queen Hornet in Palnea Woods/Reddin

The Krakken in Gullivin

Grelda's Kidnapping

Azrielle vs the Kyubirin

Noire's Gift

The Baker's Fiance

Little Girl in Timbershade Woods

Plant monster in Timbershade Woods

Lilith and the succubi

The legendary monster egg

The imprisoned dark mage in Arcfall

Obtain Draconus' final form

Oh, and finishing the game did actually get me in one of those 'what do I do with my free time now...?' vibes as well. The kind of vibe you get after finishing a good series/game, which is probably the kind of sadness you meant.

Thanks for that--there were a few that I had missed. I was having some trouble figuring out what they were :D

Yes, exactly--how do I find another game that compares to this one that will totally immerse me in another world.
Man, you guys are just too much. I figured that if even one person got a few hours of entertainment out of this game, it'd be worth all the effort. Knowing that so many people are enjoying the game in spite of its glitches is...it's hard to put a word to it, but I suppose you could say "fulfilling".It makes me want to work even harder to create an even more enjoyable experience. Hmm...I feel like I've said this before. Oh well, it's still true, so I'll say it again.

I'm not done with this game, and I won't be until I can make it a relatively glitch-free experience, but the building blocks for the sequel are already there. You can look forward to the stories of all the heroes and villains expanding even further in the next game.

If you're looking for good rpg maker games to play, Kodek asked a similar question a little while ago, so my suggestions are a few posts up.

do you likr rpg maker games or comercial games what is yours opinions what do you think is better me i like rpg maker games what is your opinions

Well both types of games have their advantages. Commercial games have large budgets, which allows them to create massive beautiful worlds with original artwork, enemies, skills and animations, not to mention voice acting. Generally, commercial games beat rpg maker games hands down, because they simply have more resources at their disposal.

On the other hand, rpg maker games have a sort of freedom that commercial games don't, in the sense that the creator is free to build their game however they want. There's one particular aspect of many commercial rpg's that bothers me; their tendency to waste the player's time. Often in a commercial rpg, the player's time is wasted through uninteresting filler missions, backtracking, and overly frequent battles. This way, the company can advertise their game as having 50 hours of game play. Personally, I'd rather play a game that was fun for 4 hours all the way through than a game that was fun for 5 hours and boring/painful for 45 hours. With rpg maker games, the player can cram all the fun ideas in their head into one enjoyable experience without having to suffer the pressure of advertising its length. Oh, and no loading screens (at least if you aren't using MV).

Overall though, I do like commercial games better, because I love 3D rpg's and I'm a sucker for graphics. If a 3D rpg maker with decent graphics (sorry Rpg Maker 3)were to come out, I'd be one happy camper.
I restart the game angain and i likw the fact the god of darkness explend jow too play when we cant always play as ragnarok
I restart the game angain and i likw the fact the god of darkness explend jow too play when we cant always play as ragnarok
So I have completed the game like many before me. Few thoughts are necessary for this entertaiment of course.
First impression... my antivirus deleted game when I tried to open it... had to reinstall and disable that little b-word to play the game.
Second thought. Damn someone certainly investes heavily in sound in this game
Third one. And here I thought I have already lost the simple enjoyment of playing rpgmaker game due to age.... thanks for proving me wrong.
Fourth one. So many feels but bearable. You managed to not make soup opera. GJ!
Fifth. My inner nazi is screaming every time I see thier... pure evil as expected of villain game!
Sixth. Button to skip puzzles? Especially the music one with for some silly reason background music interfering with melody.
Seventh. I really like the part where NPCS have two texts to read. Very rare and enjoyable. Shame many would probably not even notice this part.
Bugs are really minor like Dinning table in king castle you can go through or strange NPC in the same castle in front of gate or flying skeleton in bandit valley.
Interesting solution to give monster parts rather than money. Perhaps we could learn how to harvest monster parts in the next game for realism?
The scenerios were great cake icing and also small snacks like Succumbus in colloseum. Minor stuff but should not bandits stop trying to throw rocks on us after we beat their leader? Overally I would not feel guilty rating this speciman as game of the year!
Blast! you've uncovered my subtle plot to brainwash the masses into thinking "thier" is an actual word! Curse you zenia, I shall have my revenge! *sigh* I suppose I'll have to give in to modern conventions and actually spell it correctly for now, but mark my words, "thier" will return! That music puzzle seems to be more trouble than it's worth, I'm going to have to adjust it.

Thanks for that tip about the mapping errors, now I know what to look for. Unfortunately, harvesting monster parts would probably force me to switch from random to on map encounters, and I believe random encounters better suit the game. I just like the fact that anything can pop out at you at any time.

I'm glad you enjoyed the extras, all the summons that can talk have their own little skit the first time they participate in a tournament. If you walk under a boulder in the northern pass after beating the bandits, they won't drop it on you, but the pitfalls will still kill you. Those lazy bums can't be bothered to cover them up.

I'm flabbergasted (what? it's a word) that you would give the game such high praise, and I hope to present you with even more entertainment in the future. I hope you'll give the next version of the game a spin too, as it'll have a boatload of bug fixes and even more content.
this game has everything good in a rpg,yet one thing is missing, cut scenes. think "the lunar game on gba". it can be still images with character texts and that would make it more engrossing. its a shame because your art in this game and backgrounds are masterfully done. bravo!
Hey thanks bro! I can't take credit for the art as it isn't mine, but I think it all came together nicely. I just wish I was a better mapper, but hey, practice makes perfect as they say. It's funny though, I was inspired to create the scenario system by the support conversations from Fire Emblem Awakening. I could watch those things all day. Unfortunately copying that style would require me to have some decent sized busts for all the characters.
Hey WheelmanZero, while playing this game I went to the bakery after killing Alexa. While Mira was arguing with Owen about customers stealing her bread, he says at the end of the scene that's the point the business.
Edit: I talk to a Barcone fan and he says Now even a dragon can take that thing down!
Edit #2: Pandora says thing instead of things after talking to Garrick.
Edit #3: In the Lindale library recipe and fascinating are spelled wrong.
I can't really say how soon the upgrade will be done, there's something I want to put in there that's going to take some time to make. I don't really want to walk away from this game until it's something I can truly be proud of. Helpful players like g0lbez keep bringing new issues to my attention every day, so I want to be certain this next version is much more polished. Thanks g0lbez and all the other players who have been reporting bugs, you guys are awesome. And thank you guillaume for your patience, it'll pay off.

Thanks. By the way, after you go to the throne room from ebony cauldron Azrielle says here twice in a row instead of only saying it once.
Edit: In the catacombs under Ethios Sanctuary in the very first room in between the bookshelves, that book on the pedestal spells amateurs wrong. The weird thing is after I pick up the sparkle in that same room I get a scene where you spell amateur, either amatuer or amateur which is the correct spelling. I can't remember which. Also could you add an option in the game that you can turn off and on where you don't run in to bees if you have the Hornet Queen. I once ran into 5 bee enemies in a row before they ran because I had the Hornet Queen in my party. I was just trying to fight bears for experience and bear hide.
Edit #2: After beating Possessed Pandora you spelled unpleasant wrong.
Edit #3: Damien just said When I we get back, that scumbag's pay bigtime. All I have to say is WTF, how did that get put in the game. I did not expect anything like that.
Edit #4: The scene I get after acquiring the Research Lab Key, there are some errors. It should be can we not we can and I think there are more but I am not able to go back and look at the scene.
Edit #5: I just beat the Possessed Necronomicon and I think it just gave me something for beating it besides itself but I pressed z to get the whole reward screen to pop up only, pressing that key skipped the screen instead so can you tell me what it is the boss dropped if it dropped anything at all.
Edit #6: Damien just said to the guy who wanted the necronomicon on your little errand run. That doesn't make any sense.
Edit #7: It's supposed to be you do the honors. All I see at the end of that sentence in Reinhart the Betrayer part 2 is might I ask to do the honors, not might I ask you to do the honors.
Edit #8: Jeremy says to Lyra It won't long before they're large enough for more dangerous monsters to slip through. There should be the word be in between won't and long.
