Over two hundred years ago, the five heroes defeated the god of darkness; Ragnarok, in a climactic struggle for the fate of the world. Banished back to the realm of darkness known as the Abyss, the threat of the evil god had finally been put to rest once and for all...or so they thought.

Umbral Soul follows the story of Ragnarok’s loyal servant, Pandora, who joins her master in a quest to conquer the world and reclaim his lost power. In order to shroud the world in eternal darkness, they will have to find and recruit new allies, build an army of powerful monsters, and raise a force strong enough to crush anyone who dares to oppose them. Heroes, generals and rival overlords all stand against them. Do you have the power to make the world yours?

Pandora
A powerful dark sorceress with the ability to call forth monsters from the Abyss and enslave them to her will. Her burning hatred for the world and its people leads her to follow Ragnarok with unwavering loyalty.

Ragnarok
The god of darkness, who seeks dominion over the human realm. Once an extremely powerful being in the form of a monstrous demon, he has now been reduced to a mere soul. He wishes to plunge the entirety of the human realm into darkness, in part out of spite for his counterpart; the goddess of light, Lumielle.

Lanith
Beautiful, deadly, and self absorbed to a tee, Lanith is a succubus with a never ending hunger for the lifeforce of men. Having served under Pandora since she was only a child, she has a knack for getting under her skin, and does so whenever the opportunity arises.

Damien
A deeply twisted and sadistic young man, Damien loves nothing more than manipulating others and watching them squirm. While he has kept his true nature a secret, Ragnarok’s uprising marks the perfect opportunity for him to cut loose and have some fun...by killing as many enemies as possible.

Azrielle
The lord of all demons, who is fiercely loyal to Ragnarok and possesses an extreme, seething hatred for humanity. After failing to aid his master in conquering the world the first time, he has no intention of repeating the same mistakes again.

I'm back, baby!

Hey everybody, hope you've been doing well. I'm pleased to say I was just recently discharged from rehab, so at long last after over a month I'm home. They ran a whole lot of tests on me and I had several surgeries, so I am finally no longer in danger of croaking. That means I'm finally free to double down on game development, when I'm not stuck sitting in some doctor's office that is. Thank you all for your well wishes, they went a long way towards improving my mental health through that strenuous time. Welp, that's enough chatter. I've got some game making to do.

Posts

Hi there!
So...i played the game two more times after beating it the first time, just because it is very good, probably my favorite RPG Maker game for now and i'm being unfair saying it's is good, because i really had the time of my life playing it
But anyway, i'm here to pass what i saw in the gameplays after the first one
-Some summons has bugs that make then don't disappear from the map when you summon then, i saw it with Hilda the most and one time with Rozallyn, but just once
-Some characters and/or summons aren't interactable under some circunstances, for example: When i have Marcus or Damien (i don't remember who know...sorry) and i try to interact with Noire, the game simple crash after the interaction and i can't move or i can't interact with her at all
-And again i should complain a little about the difficult of the game, with the second gameplay, that i did not rush the game out of curiosity of the history it was even more impactating, it's rather easy and boring some bossfights,if i leveled my characters enough it makes just impossible to lose, i can just attack nonstop and use Demora, Darckle, Lanith, Pandora or any character with heal to heal myself so i just CAN'T lose if i continous heal myself, i think it's good to limitate the number os fights on a map just for the sake of ballancing the game, so that nobody just reach a point where that they could just insta-kill some bosses, for example: Using Marcus and leveling him well, then buffing him and making the target take more dmg from lightning damage just made me do 1100 dmg to PERSEUS IN HIS SECOND FIGHT!!! And i used Damien's Marionette too, so i just dealt about 2200 dmg on one of the final bosses in one turn with just one character...it's really unfair
But, i don't have any complains, 'cause the game is just perfect, waiting the sequel with anxiety~
Yo Kodek, thanks for the heads up. Do you remember what kind of error popped up when you had that issue with Noire? I'm going to triple check several events, but knowing at least vaguely what the error said would be extremely helpful.

I've decided to add TP costs to certain healing spells so they can't be spammed into oblivion anymore. I've also decreased stormbringer's thunder boosting ability so it's not quite as OP. But geez, 1100 damage from one character?! People are finding combos more broken than anything I had anticipated! I'm curious what level Marcus was in that fight. But yeah, the bosses are getting slight HP and offensive buffs, and healing will become slightly more difficult to do in the next version. Lanith will most likely remain OP though, heh heh.

I'm thrilled you enjoyed the game enough to play it more than once, and I appreciate your patience in waiting for the sequel. There's still a lot to be done but I'll get there, don't you worry!

I don't remember the error exactly sorry, but it was with Marcus or Damien i'm certain of it! And Marcus was at lvl 37 against Perseus, i used some potions to level up him heh, 'cause he is my favorite character of the game, followed by Lanith, Rozallyn and Damien/ Pandora in this order
Well thanks anyway, that should be enough information to go on. Wow level 37, no wonder why you destroyed everything. When I beat the game my highest character was in the lower 30's at most.
To quench the thirst of grindy players, you should do an optional super boss.

Seconded.... I absolutely agree~ Maybe Ragnarok? XD
I HAVE been getting a lot of requests for a superboss, but what to fight? Ragnarok wouldn't really make sense for Pandora's story since he's...y'know, your boss and all. I'll have to give it some thought.

So, for a superboss...i think that to add a new character/ boss just for a fight will make all of that look strange, of course that is Lilith but she was there for Lanith development with Pandora, so it's acceptable, for a super-boss maybe and i'm saying MAYBE adding a boss fight that you go against the 5 original heroes or just against Jeremy will be fantastic! But i don't know how this is gonna fit in the game, so it's just an idea for a superboss fight

My suggestion for a super boss, if you were to put one in there, is a manifestation of Pandora if she were a hero of the Light (I'd use her original name when she was a kid too). Sort of like a cross-dimensional fight, where when Pandora sees herself as a warrior of the Light (maybe in a mirror?), she gets royally pissed off and decides to end her. Light-Pandora would have the ability to summon creatures as well. Just a thought. =)

That imposible to a ligh pandora can summon because summoning is a dark magic boost to hard with ligh and wheel said me a message he said he dont mske a supe boss in umbra but in luminous soul the sequel when you play as new heroes good sugestion sphere
Yeah, I wasn't really planning a superboss, but since so many people seem interested in one, I might add one after all.

You've got an interesting idea there Shadonir, but getting a move as a reward would be kind of a waste. The superboss would have to be the strongest enemy in the game, so by the time you'd be able to beat it, you'd have been able to crush everything else anyway. That means there wouldn't be anything worthy of using your new move on.

Sphere's suggestion has some gears in my mind turning that uses an old idea I had discarded, so we'll see what comes of it.
This post is a figment of your imagination. Ignore it and/or see a psychiatrist immediately.

Holy!!! That is an amazing idea, i would like to fight Pandora, but i've thinked somethings with this, a Light Pandora would be impossible, 'cause she draws her power all from dark magic, so even if she had a light version for us to fight, it will be a lot weaker than her dark form, so she was going to be very weak, but maybe...if we could fight our own summons or a shadow version of Pandora summoning the summons in a shadow version too, that is more like it. Or maybe if our entire group of allies turn against us as if they were being mind-controled by something like Damien power! Well, the fight itself is meaningless if we could just fight monsters non-stop until we are lvl ???, so maybe it's a good idea that the boss power grow with us or if our own power got limited to some lvl just for the fight, that is gonna make a lot of fights difficult i think
Meh, that would be complicated for a couple of reasons. First, many of the summons in the game are optional, so fighting a copy of Pandora who uses summons you haven't obtained would be odd. Plus there's no way to tell what stage of evolution the players summons have achieved, so you might end up having a stage 2 Draconus fighting a stage 3 Shadow Draconus.

The light Pandora angle would be tricky since summoning magic is darkness magic. I could always change that rule, but if Pandora had become a hero she never would have recruited giant monsters to do her bidding, other than Draconus perhaps. She would need new abilities, which would rob the battle of the feel of fighting Pandora in the first place.

But if you're itching to fight Pandora, her summons and the other acolytes, the sequel will give you the opportunity.
You could just make a new summon as superboss (already maxed out with only one form, no evolution needed), something truly OP that says "congrats, now that you've beaten this hellish monster, enjoy god mode".
love the game and enjoy the grinding . already in abandoned fortress now . but......i am not liking the charater at all -_- ,everyone just a delusional who need looking at the mirror . speaking like a victim while all they did was just narcissistic who only love herself/himself , while they trample the true wishes of all of they loved one who already died . sorry with bad english .
Your english is just fine pal. As long as you're having fun, I'm a happy camper. The villains lash out at the world while their actions make things worse instead of better, ruining other peoples lives because their own lives were ruined. It's part of what makes them villains, so it's not surprising that you'd dislike that aspect of their personalities. Still, great to hear you're having a good time.
yup, i enjoy the game ^^ .but somehow i can't switch/change my summon monster at all . must be because lanith was damn sexy .somehow i got charmed by succubus in the game rfol. lanith 4ever!
*facepalm* When did this start happening? You can send me the details in an email.
