Over two hundred years ago, the five heroes defeated the god of darkness; Ragnarok, in a climactic struggle for the fate of the world. Banished back to the realm of darkness known as the Abyss, the threat of the evil god had finally been put to rest once and for all...or so they thought.

Umbral Soul follows the story of Ragnarok’s loyal servant, Pandora, who joins her master in a quest to conquer the world and reclaim his lost power. In order to shroud the world in eternal darkness, they will have to find and recruit new allies, build an army of powerful monsters, and raise a force strong enough to crush anyone who dares to oppose them. Heroes, generals and rival overlords all stand against them. Do you have the power to make the world yours?

Pandora
A powerful dark sorceress with the ability to call forth monsters from the Abyss and enslave them to her will. Her burning hatred for the world and its people leads her to follow Ragnarok with unwavering loyalty.

Ragnarok
The god of darkness, who seeks dominion over the human realm. Once an extremely powerful being in the form of a monstrous demon, he has now been reduced to a mere soul. He wishes to plunge the entirety of the human realm into darkness, in part out of spite for his counterpart; the goddess of light, Lumielle.

Lanith
Beautiful, deadly, and self absorbed to a tee, Lanith is a succubus with a never ending hunger for the lifeforce of men. Having served under Pandora since she was only a child, she has a knack for getting under her skin, and does so whenever the opportunity arises.

Damien
A deeply twisted and sadistic young man, Damien loves nothing more than manipulating others and watching them squirm. While he has kept his true nature a secret, Ragnarok’s uprising marks the perfect opportunity for him to cut loose and have some fun...by killing as many enemies as possible.

Azrielle
The lord of all demons, who is fiercely loyal to Ragnarok and possesses an extreme, seething hatred for humanity. After failing to aid his master in conquering the world the first time, he has no intention of repeating the same mistakes again.

I'm back, baby!

Hey everybody, hope you've been doing well. I'm pleased to say I was just recently discharged from rehab, so at long last after over a month I'm home. They ran a whole lot of tests on me and I had several surgeries, so I am finally no longer in danger of croaking. That means I'm finally free to double down on game development, when I'm not stuck sitting in some doctor's office that is. Thank you all for your well wishes, they went a long way towards improving my mental health through that strenuous time. Welp, that's enough chatter. I've got some game making to do.

I HAVE been getting a lot of requests for a superboss, but what to fight? Ragnarok wouldn't really make sense for Pandora's story since he's...y'know, your boss and all. I'll have to give it some thought.

Ragnorok wouldn't be a horrrrrible option, you could see it as him testing Pandora's strength thus far or something?
/random thought

But yeah I'm also among those who would love an optional superboss or two xD
Meh, going up against Ragnarok wouldn't end well for Pandora anyway. Using darkness against the god of darkness would be like fighting a forest fire with a fire hose filled with gasoline.

love the game and enjoy the grinding . already in abandoned fortress now . but......i am not liking the charater at all -_- ,everyone just a delusional who need looking at the mirror . speaking like a victim while all they did was just narcissistic who only love herself/himself , while they trample the true wishes of all of they loved one who already died . sorry with bad english .

Duh, that's what a villain is, most of the time.
cleared the game today . waiting for sequel now . pretty sad the game dont have new game+ feature or after story . the story was quite good and i think the game can be commercialized in steam
Thanks davremedy, that's an amazing compliment, but I would be sued by at least 14 different people if this game were to go commercial. The game has tons of resources that were pulled from a myriad of sources that aren't approved for commercial use. Sadly carrying over things like summons and whatnot would screw up a lot of the events, so it wasn't really an option I could go with. Thanks for sharing and I'm glad you enjoyed it!
For the optional boss how about a special snowflake wizard who managed to twist his soul in the shape of both Light and Darkness at the same time or can switch at will?
He can be some legendary figure or just a crazy hermit.
I was hoping to use something that would tie into either the game's story or further installments of the story. I have a few ideas.

Something worse than both Light and Darkness?
Where is the monster that slayed the heroes in the Little Girl Lost sidequest?

Could someone help me with the music puzzle in Rozalin's tower? My hearing's not that good, and I can't really seem to tell the difference between the six tonal pillars (the three on the left sound exactly alike to me).
Ah yes, the infamous music puzzle. That's been stumping a lot of people, so I'm cutting it down to four notes for the next version. Here's the solution.

The order of the orbs is shown as follows.

1 2 3 == 4 5 6

Do the following 6 combinations in the following order.

4 3 4 1 4 5
Is there any in-game indication that it's a music puzzle? A player could be deaf or suffer from sound-related PC issues, and then there are players like me who mute the sound and listen to other music while playing. Thus, I'm not fond of acoustic puzzles in JRPGs, but I can solve them effortlessly as long as I know they exist in the first place, so an in-game "warning" would be a good idea if it wasn't already implemented.
Interacting with the barrier surrounding the blood gem will cause a series of notes to play, while interacting with each of the purple orbs will play a single note. I figured the player would be able to deduce that it's a music puzzle after interacting with those objects, since by that point they've learned that most objects in the game are interact-able. I didn't consider deaf players however, so I'll add a read me file with all the puzzle solutions in the next version. Thanks for the feedback Euphoniac!
Heya, I've gotten all but one single unlockable cutscene. It is located underneath Marcus and the Dark Mage.
I got you covered. Posting the solution in a spoiler tag to avoid spoilerocity.

Head to the bakery in Vallwin and speak to the girl with Marcus in your party to kick off a sidequest. Complete it to unlock the scenario.
cant run this game after i install to a directory my antivrus send my game.exe to quarantine saying my game.exe file is infected with the win32:sality virus. i think the host comp is already infected with this virus thats why the files have in here have it.
I was sure to do an anti-virus scan on the game file before releasing it and it came up clean, but I have heard that some anti-viruses have issue with vx ace exe's for some reason. If you have an exe file from another vx ace game, try copy pasting it in and see if that works.

The files are clean, it's just that many anti-virus software don't like exes being downloaded unless it's through a client like Steam or Gamejolt, so they throw up a false positive.
