Over two hundred years ago, the five heroes defeated the god of darkness; Ragnarok, in a climactic struggle for the fate of the world. Banished back to the realm of darkness known as the Abyss, the threat of the evil god had finally been put to rest once and for all...or so they thought.

Umbral Soul follows the story of Ragnarok’s loyal servant, Pandora, who joins her master in a quest to conquer the world and reclaim his lost power. In order to shroud the world in eternal darkness, they will have to find and recruit new allies, build an army of powerful monsters, and raise a force strong enough to crush anyone who dares to oppose them. Heroes, generals and rival overlords all stand against them. Do you have the power to make the world yours?

A powerful dark sorceress with the ability to call forth monsters from the Abyss and enslave them to her will. Her burning hatred for the world and its people leads her to follow Ragnarok with unwavering loyalty.

The god of darkness, who seeks dominion over the human realm. Once an extremely powerful being in the form of a monstrous demon, he has now been reduced to a mere soul. He wishes to plunge the entirety of the human realm into darkness, in part out of spite for his counterpart; the goddess of light, Lumielle.

Beautiful, deadly, and self absorbed to a tee, Lanith is a succubus with a never ending hunger for the lifeforce of men. Having served under Pandora since she was only a child, she has a knack for getting under her skin, and does so whenever the opportunity arises.

A deeply twisted and sadistic young man, Damien loves nothing more than manipulating others and watching them squirm. While he has kept his true nature a secret, Ragnarok’s uprising marks the perfect opportunity for him to cut loose and have some fun...by killing as many enemies as possible.

The lord of all demons, who is fiercely loyal to Ragnarok and possesses an extreme, seething hatred for humanity. After failing to aid his master in conquering the world the first time, he has no intention of repeating the same mistakes again.

Shock and Speechlessness 2: The Shockening

Hoo boy, where to even start? I've been putting off writing this blog for a couple of days now because I'm not exactly sure what to say. Welp, let's start from the beginning. A few days ago, Umbral Soul won 3 and 1/3 Misaos: Best Protagonist/Characters, Best Intro, Best Gameplay Balance, and a three way tie with Lakria Legends and Sideways for Raddest Setting.

To be perfectly honest, I'm speechless. In fact, I've been speechless for 3 days, which is why this blog is coming so late. Once again, my good friends shock and speechlessness have shown up at my doorstep, carrying gift baskets filled with fruit and trail mix. I don't think I've ever felt like this before in my life, and I doubt I ever will again. It just isn't something you can put into words.

Let's get this out of the way; I am extremely flattered and thankful to this community for its kindness. When I joined this site and submitted this game, winning a Misao was such a far off dream that I never even considered it possible. Heck, I thought even getting a single review would be a stretch. I actually laughed when people suggested it could be even remotely possible for this game to win a Misao. Yet here I am, talking to all of you now, overwhelmed by a powerful mixture of disbelief and joy that that has socked me in the jaw harder than Mike Tyson in the final level of Punch Out.

I'd like to give a big fat thank you, not only to those of you who voted for the game, but who gave it a chance. Never in my wildest dreams did I think it would become this popular. I'm going to do my best to live up to your expectations for future games, if for no other reason than to give back some of the joy this community has given me. And to you goofballs who voted for Umbral Soul in the "Best Fangame" category, you're all shmucks. Lovable shumucks, but shumcks. Thanks again, now it's time for me to get back to work and make you guys some even better games!

I am a happy, happy man. The pixels that compose these words cannot adequately express the sheer joy contained within them.
there bug i dont know but if you go in the quest of the merge second tower fight in a game of my friend marcus he is not here but we shoud have all acolythss for the boss lanith and a anther sumon remplace him pstheultimate ihate waiting!!! my patience will soon be out double ps is they a way to go to capitale fully playable
i will be more patient if is a new game not just a ubtate what take you much time to create xd
Random question, are there any minotaurs in the world of Umbral Soul?
Indeed there are. They're one of the enemies in Aster Forest. You also fight one in the Colosseum. dd33, I've already answered that question more than once. I do have a life outside of game making.
i know but it srange you dont know hw far yu go in your game ps do you think you can make a sereen story much longer then pandody to compast lack of bonus things xd why there are scenes who dont go if i change too much party strnge
my dear senpai, you really have to deal with all kinds of people thanks to the success of your game... :/ but well, a price has to be paid for the fame, right? xD
I'm pretty swamped at the moment. Work has been a killer lately, with us getting twice as many customers as usual, and let me tell ya, spending 4 to 8 hours standing on a sprained ankle is the exact opposite of fun. Plus there's the fact that there are other things that I need to get done in addition to this game. Ideally, I'd like to just sit down and tinker on games till the cows come home, but sadly real life isn't that forgiving. That being said, I really do appreciate everyone's patience. You guys are the bomb diggity. Do the kids still say that these days?

boi, leave the poor guy alone, this is a non-profit game that he made out of his own free will, he obviously put his heart and soul in it, and you should be grateful if you liked it. it will quite obviously be the same thing with the part two and the ultimate edition, so like, if he took your money in advance or something and then you complained, i could somewhat understand (but even then only somewhat, because your tone and assumptions are still way too rude), but you really have no right whatsoever to tell him to speed up making of the games or to demand literally anything of him. for real, why do you think you have the right to tell literally anyone what they should do with their time and to assume you know anything about their lives? he, or anyone else, could have million of responsibilities or issues going on, and even if he didn't, it is his game, he has right to do whatever he wants with it, and you have no single argument that would give you right to whine about it. as people would say in my language, you neither feed him nor clothe him. he literally does not owe you, or any of us, for that matter, anything.

senpai, please heal well, and make the game at your own tempo, nobody normal will bother you for that. sorry for rant, i don't want to start a fight in the comments of your game, i am just really annoyed with the nerve and the level of disrespect and ego inflation some people have. you rock, ignore the haters!
Nah, I understand that it can be hard to wait for something you've been anticipating for a while. Like you said though, this is a hobby I do for fun, and the last thing I want is for it to become another job. This game was hilariously overambitious for one person to complete, but I managed to finish it (kind of) because of the fact that it didn't feel like work; it was fun. I think I work my best when I'm having fun, so if everyone is patient enough to let me do my thing, the results will hopefully be worth the wait.
Honestly.... I am fine with waiting longer (eh how couldnt I be? I fully agree with gothic there... its not like I am paying for anything. And the work to have a full animation list with a ton of custom made animations is just the icing on this incredible story.)

But I think dd33 is saying that since Wheelman once said he would probably have it done at this point etc etc... so I kinda see where he is coming from.

Anyways look after yourself first before you make the game... its better to get quality than a bug riddled abdomination.

Thy for the "kinda" finished game so far... it was a lot of fun to play around with. And I dont have a lot of fun normally.... so I guess double thanks? xD
i undestand but ot your argument ido like wheel said think other things but im not a patient guy xd and when i read all progress he made in the mail we send it just schock for me that not finish

last thing mv bug lots if funny how people trie like thaté make games with bugs

whell have i ideas for senariostheme a senario who tell how the acolyth go in end credit or a reverse tale of luminous form evry heroes separate way like in bbs
I can somewhat understand your impatience dd33. It has been a long time in waiting for both the sequel and the edition verison of this game. Still WheelmanZero has said many times that he takes his time with making his games, so you don't want to rush him dd33. Umbral Soul was really well-done, and shows us his pace with his games would probably end with a much better results that you won't otherwise get. So my advice is don't have an expectation for this game to be released very soon, instead try not be in a rush and let WheelmanZero release it at his pace and time, when he completes it.

All long RPG Maker games that are designed by one person, good or could improvea lot ones, take a lot of time and effort to make. They can't be done quicker than they get done.
personaly i dont hype for luminous because i played to many rpg and i can predict end the bad thing of play raditionel rpg who.

i undestand but ot your argument ido like wheel said think other things but im not a patient guy xd and when i read all progress he made in the mail we send it just schock for me that not finish

WheelmanZero can take his own sweet time to complete Umbral Soul's Ultimate Edition. Why don't you, dd33, learn basic English in the meantime?
Yeah, um - the appropriate response if you're excited for an RPGMaker game to come out is to check RPGMaker.net's front page at least twice a week forever, and inwardly sigh when Umbral Soul is only on the front page due to people discussing it. Instead of because the Ultimate Edition is out. Not that I ... would know anything about that :P
Oh, and maybe tell the creator how awesome what he already did was. "Hi Wheelman, I haven't posted since I played in February, but I still think your game was awesome. In at least the top 10 story/atmosphere-wise of any RPG I've played, ever, including ones I've paid $59.99 for." You know, sentences like that.
And then just sit and patiently wait. Relying only on your latent psychic powers to convince him or her to hurry up with the next release :)

If you are here to praise Wheelman in a plot to make him have a heartattack than you are very welcome in my opinion, but I think i could speak for most if I say that we should not attack someone on a more personal level simply because he thinks he is entitled to something he isnt.

I know quite a few people that struggled learning english even with a lot of time invested and still failed.... Learning a language isnt that easy for many.

Anyways wheelman I must say again you did great work :D

And excuse to all the others that hopped that this is an update.... but this had to be said in my opinion. Beeing attacked because someone struggles to learn a language isnt something one should do. (or because he acts entitled... some dont know any better yet and wont if you just attack them.)

dd33 you are as much a fan of wheelmans work as I am... but please dont try to tell wheelman what he has to do with his free time... there are often many factors that have to be considered (like work, life and stuff like that) wheelman doesnt owe us a new update to the game even if he promised... and quite a few may rally to his defense and attack you without saying anything worthwhile simply to put you down.... well I am not the best trying to explain what I do with my basic english skills, but basically I wanna tell you: Dont think you are entitled to something you arent. Wheelmans time is his to use however he wants to and dont tell him to speed up. We will get what we want in time.. with some luck =P

I do hope I brought my point across without making to many mistakes or stuff like that.
Oh yeah, like I said before, I'm always impressed by people who can speak multiple languages, even if they can't speak them perfectly. English is a pretty tough language to learn. I mean, we have three different versions of the word "to"! Too, two and to. Why would you possibly need that many "to's"?

*ahem* So, uhh...sorry for the false alarms there Varn. Sometimes I wish rmn's buzz system didn't work as well as it does. This is why I don't like giving release dates, because they add pressure and encourage me to rush when I work better just taking my time. Well, that and the fact that I'm horrible at estimating how long it takes me to finish something.

Thank you everyone for your remarkably kind words and oodles of patience, they've definitely kept my motivation for game making high. Don't worry dasgibtesnet, I've learned my lesson. I now make sure to keep a paper bag nearby whenever I visit this page. Plus I haven't touched a single one of the 76 emergency inhalers in my closet for weeks!

dd33, I think time will move faster for you if you stop thinking about this game and play something else in the meantime. I know a good game always makes the time fly by for me.
