Over two hundred years ago, the five heroes defeated the god of darkness; Ragnarok, in a climactic struggle for the fate of the world. Banished back to the realm of darkness known as the Abyss, the threat of the evil god had finally been put to rest once and for all...or so they thought.

Umbral Soul follows the story of Ragnarok’s loyal servant, Pandora, who joins her master in a quest to conquer the world and reclaim his lost power. In order to shroud the world in eternal darkness, they will have to find and recruit new allies, build an army of powerful monsters, and raise a force strong enough to crush anyone who dares to oppose them. Heroes, generals and rival overlords all stand against them. Do you have the power to make the world yours?

Pandora
A powerful dark sorceress with the ability to call forth monsters from the Abyss and enslave them to her will. Her burning hatred for the world and its people leads her to follow Ragnarok with unwavering loyalty.

Ragnarok
The god of darkness, who seeks dominion over the human realm. Once an extremely powerful being in the form of a monstrous demon, he has now been reduced to a mere soul. He wishes to plunge the entirety of the human realm into darkness, in part out of spite for his counterpart; the goddess of light, Lumielle.

Lanith
Beautiful, deadly, and self absorbed to a tee, Lanith is a succubus with a never ending hunger for the lifeforce of men. Having served under Pandora since she was only a child, she has a knack for getting under her skin, and does so whenever the opportunity arises.

Damien
A deeply twisted and sadistic young man, Damien loves nothing more than manipulating others and watching them squirm. While he has kept his true nature a secret, Ragnarok’s uprising marks the perfect opportunity for him to cut loose and have some fun...by killing as many enemies as possible.

Azrielle
The lord of all demons, who is fiercely loyal to Ragnarok and possesses an extreme, seething hatred for humanity. After failing to aid his master in conquering the world the first time, he has no intention of repeating the same mistakes again.

I'm back, baby!

Hey everybody, hope you've been doing well. I'm pleased to say I was just recently discharged from rehab, so at long last after over a month I'm home. They ran a whole lot of tests on me and I had several surgeries, so I am finally no longer in danger of croaking. That means I'm finally free to double down on game development, when I'm not stuck sitting in some doctor's office that is. Thank you all for your well wishes, they went a long way towards improving my mental health through that strenuous time. Welp, that's enough chatter. I've got some game making to do.

Is this the Reverse story we're talking about? I thought that was a side-quel rather than a sequel.
Serene's story is the reverse story that's being added to this game as a bonus. The sequel is a completely different game that continues the story from where this game left off. I'm currently working on Serene's story, but I've done some work on the sequel as well.

So I decided to start playing this game, and I couldn't put it down once the actual "gameplay" started.

And then I ran into a brick wall of "white magic" known as Odin. Managed to get him down to the last bit of his energy bar when - WHAM! - he hits me with That One Attack, and my entire party goes down.

I shall prevail next time! Kudos, Mr. Zero. ^_^
Ah yes, Odin. Many a fine player has fallen to the wrath of his mighty beard, it's how he generates all that static electricity. I have confidence you'll be victorious in the end, though. Thanks for the props Prof, I hope you enjoy yourself all the way up to the end, and be sure to let me know if you have any issues.

heh heh, you dont have to resist that damage if you are in the control *damien-ish wink*

Are there way at avoid that battle?
For those struggling with Odin

This is advice for any boss in the game, really, but keeping your health up and debuffing his M/ATK is a nice way to go. But the key to victory is to guard yourself whenever he gets an Ultimate Aura - that is when he is about to unleash the ultimate attack. Just make all of your team guard and it will lower pretty much of most incoming damage, easy peezy lemon squeezy~
In the final I also used Damien's Last Performance, but since Odin has an incredibly high thunder resistance it's more of getting some chuckles rather than make him straight up finish himself.

Ah, I see you are a man of culture as well.
Odin's battle is mandatory, but if you follow Ebanyle's strategy, it becomes a walk in the park. I too enjoyed having him electrocute himself to death. Stop looking at me like that, I'm not sadistic! You're sadistic!

And at last - victory! (It took me two tries, but that's part of the fun.) ^_^

The trick was taking an underlevelled Marcus out of the party and swapping in Damien. He's a sneaky little brat, but also a very entertaining one.

Who would've thought the mighty Odin was
that susceptible to poison?

Now Razielle is throwing a snit because one of his servants was kidnapped. Good guys Bad guys off to the rescue!

Still patiently anxiously awaiting Luminous Souls over here....
And I am still rushing in a frenzied panic calmly and carefully making additions to the game. Oh snap, I'm running out of time! What moves should I give the new party? Oh forget it, I'm just giving everyone Scratch and Tackle. The real question is, should I give Pandora Double Attack or Dual Attack?

Definitely Fury Swipes.
It's been quite a bit since anyone said anything so I just wanted to say that I'm still greatly looking forward to the new version with a reverse campaign and the sequel.
Glad to hear it bud, I hope you find them to be worth the wait. I'm a pretty overambitious guy, but sometimes ends up getting me better results.
I was replaying the game ( again XD i cant wait for the next part ) and i was just wandering can you enter those 2 gates at the entrance of rozalins castle ( the ones that she tells you to GET AWAY FROM ) and that one room in servants quarters in azzrieles castle in front of which a creature is.
Nah, you can't go through those until the sequel. All the locations you couldn't reach in this game play a role in the next one. I didn't want players to end up spending the whole game walking through maps they've already seen before. But hey, that's just one more thing to look forward to, right?

indeed, rly cant wait ^^
Executable file infected with win32 sality ?
This game looks so awesome that I want to ignore, best not though..
Maybe I can figure this out...
Yeah, don't even sweat that. Some anti-viruses flag certain rpg maker exe's, but I can assure you it's safe. If your anti-virus is deleting it, you can always copy paste another exe into the game folder.
