Over two hundred years ago, the five heroes defeated the god of darkness; Ragnarok, in a climactic struggle for the fate of the world. Banished back to the realm of darkness known as the Abyss, the threat of the evil god had finally been put to rest once and for all...or so they thought.

Umbral Soul follows the story of Ragnarok’s loyal servant, Pandora, who joins her master in a quest to conquer the world and reclaim his lost power. In order to shroud the world in eternal darkness, they will have to find and recruit new allies, build an army of powerful monsters, and raise a force strong enough to crush anyone who dares to oppose them. Heroes, generals and rival overlords all stand against them. Do you have the power to make the world yours?

Pandora
A powerful dark sorceress with the ability to call forth monsters from the Abyss and enslave them to her will. Her burning hatred for the world and its people leads her to follow Ragnarok with unwavering loyalty.

Ragnarok
The god of darkness, who seeks dominion over the human realm. Once an extremely powerful being in the form of a monstrous demon, he has now been reduced to a mere soul. He wishes to plunge the entirety of the human realm into darkness, in part out of spite for his counterpart; the goddess of light, Lumielle.

Lanith
Beautiful, deadly, and self absorbed to a tee, Lanith is a succubus with a never ending hunger for the lifeforce of men. Having served under Pandora since she was only a child, she has a knack for getting under her skin, and does so whenever the opportunity arises.

Damien
A deeply twisted and sadistic young man, Damien loves nothing more than manipulating others and watching them squirm. While he has kept his true nature a secret, Ragnarok’s uprising marks the perfect opportunity for him to cut loose and have some fun...by killing as many enemies as possible.

Azrielle
The lord of all demons, who is fiercely loyal to Ragnarok and possesses an extreme, seething hatred for humanity. After failing to aid his master in conquering the world the first time, he has no intention of repeating the same mistakes again.

I'm back, baby!

Hey everybody, hope you've been doing well. I'm pleased to say I was just recently discharged from rehab, so at long last after over a month I'm home. They ran a whole lot of tests on me and I had several surgeries, so I am finally no longer in danger of croaking. That means I'm finally free to double down on game development, when I'm not stuck sitting in some doctor's office that is. Thank you all for your well wishes, they went a long way towards improving my mental health through that strenuous time. Welp, that's enough chatter. I've got some game making to do.

Posts

Heh. I held off a replay for over a year.
And then when I gave in, my hard drive (with the game on it) permanently died, about 5 hours in.
... maybe it's about time to stop re-holding off, though?
Just dropping by to wish you well!~
Holding myself off from replaying this again til the update/sequel release.
It's really tough and I might cave. xD
Ah, there's the problem. I'm guessing you're on the Reinhart quest, right? You aren't supposed to be able to teleport to the castle after you watch the scene at the top of the altar, but there's a Gloom Crystal in the crystal dimension that removes the state that seals Abyssal Portal, making it possible. Your summons are still there, they're just further down one the list. Having that extra party member is going to cause trouble in the future though. I'll shoot you an email so I can fix your save file.

It most certainly is not. Any idea how that happened? Do you have a previous save before that point?

NOpe. But it Happened when Azrielle leave paty on Dark Altar. Just after that I teleported to Castle and invite Marcus. After that I summon Lanith... and instead of her was summoned Azrielle... =( And now i dont know what to do, cos I need to use minions (like Demora for her Nebulos field, or Lanith for charm...)

Mmm... Is that normaly that i have in party 4 members and can't summon minions?
Hey, glad you enjoyed it! Heh heh heh, all I can say is that I think you'll find the direction the sequel takes quite interesting. I wouldn't expect anyone to enjoy something I didn't find exciting after all. Thanks for playing!
Wow what an incredible game, 9/10 from me. A bit worried for the sequel after seeing the post credit scene tho...hopefully we still get to stick with the dark side not switching to the "heroes of light" side like hundred other games.
Finished Reinhardt scenario, did recruit Marcus and looked around quite a bit. Those were pretty good stories, Damien is even more invaluable than I thought he would be. This little army of darkness is endearing and scary. This story seem to focused on choices and consequences, more on latter though. I now have a bit of reminiscences on similar themed game I doubt most people here played - The Last Sovereign , which had similar topics, while being focused more on choices. Liking it so far 7/10 for now I think? Not sure
Dang, it sounds like you're running smack dab into all the bugs. Those'll be long gone once I release the final version of the game, but for now I'm stuck with them. Just make sure you don't add him to your party before you meet him in the story, or it's going to cause problems later. I'm glad that you're managing to enjoy yourself in spite of the bugs though.
Okay, I got to Azrielle castle, beaten him and found another weird moment. When I go around the castle with whole party gathering stuff I am able to hire Gryger the invisible berserker at monster kennel, which I assume by dialogue I should know.. but I see him first time. Other than few usual collision shenanigans seems no big bugs, though I didn't seek as hard this time. I'm liking character dynamics however, and Kraken is pretty nice to have. Feels like Overlord, but less campy, less pandering, and bit more self aware. Still quite a bit of groaners, but several of them are warranted and some jokes and moments are really neat.
Sadly nope. Well. whatever, faster just to replay forest quickly than bother trying to fix this
Do you have a save from before you got stuck? I think the transport event on the furthest edge of that map was faulty, but as long as you don't exit from there you should be fine.
Somehow I stuck in a river after trying to enter abandoned tower, just after that bee forest. 'yada yada whatever go fetch me a world' - and I'm somehow stuck in a river quite a bit north to the place I entered
hi notice the summob are not really nessary to kill evryone will how much you done in ultimate version do you need bug report again antfd hy the serne boss is too easy it the pre final doungeon it too easy
Grelda has Emerald Explosion, but she's the only one of the maids with any kind of offense at all. Being that they're weaker demons who don't really fight, I wanted to make them support characters, since most other summons are attackers.

I'm glad you enjoyed yourself! Mira was a lot of fun to write for, along with Damien and Lanith. Those three were probably my favorites. This is my only game for now, but I'm working on an enhanced version of this game with a new campaign. After that will be its sequel, Luminous Soul. Thanks a lot for playing, and for sharing your thoughts.
Thank you for the great game. Some monsters do not have any attack skill at all: Demora, Grelda and Narrisa. I enjoy your game a lot. I wish the ending would be little longer. The DP point is gained very late to enhance the monsters.
Mira is my favorite monster.

Is this your only game?
Most third stage monsters have learned all of their attacks except for maybe 1 which shows up with a level or 2. All characters learn all their skills before level 20.

It looks like you've got all of the summons, so you're already an evil pokemon master. Congratulations!
Hi,

There are the monsters I found:
LANITH - DEMORA - ROZALIN - HORNET QUEEN - GRELDA - MIRA - NARISSA - NOIRE - DARKLE - DRACONUS - SAGIRUS - HILDA - CATASTROPHE - CTHULHU - DARK IMP - HYDRA RAFLESSIA - PHOENIX - ASMODEUS

There are 17 battle monsters + 1 non-battle monster.
Which level do all monsters learn all their skills?
How to become an evil pokemon master?
Active quest: Beginning of the End
If you're worried you're going to miss something, I can tell you how to obtain the rest of the summons.

You can unlock Demora by talking to her with Azrielle in your party. Two more summons are unlocked as you proceed through the story, and the last two are unlocked by completing a sidequest that becomes available after you complete "The Sleeping Evil". If you head to Arcfall after that, it'll be pretty hard to miss.

The only summon in the game that can be missed is Narissa, and you already have her so you should be set.
