A fourth wall breaking RPG where the hero slowly realizes that you, the player, exist.
GLITCHED is a mystery and exploration RPG. The game features traditional turn based combat with a little bit of spice but will primarily focus on the story and how you change it. This will be done through the ESSENCE SYSTEM, which will track a player's personality and morality. After a glitch appears in the world of SOREN, our unexpected hero, Gus, will become aware of you- the player. Experience fourth wall breaking shenanigans while making decisions that will shape this world.

NOTE: This is a demo prototype of the game. It reflects an early development cycle and you can expect changes and improvements to a final version. This version will have some bugs which we will work to fix as soon as possible. We recommend 2 GB of free ram in order to run GLTICHED. A Linux version will be available for the final release only, sorry!

GLITCHED takes place in the strange world of SOREN. In every corner you'll encounter strange characters, varied societies and cultures, and a history that may help you uncover secrets about the world.
Our story begins with Gus, our hero. Gus is a small town boy from the town of BETWIXT, where he has been told he has lived all his life. His best friend Conrad has plans to leave BETWIXT to see the world, but Gus decided against leaving.
After a strange encounter with a glitch in the game, the reality and world Gus knows has been completely shaken up. In a turn of events, Gus breaks the fourth wall and becomes aware of you- the player. With new questions, you and Gus set out on a journey to find answers.
The ESSENCE SYSTEM is the system used in GLITCHED to allow players to have an impact on Gus and the world. Every small decision and choice players make will have an impact on the essence of Gus. There are six different essences that Gus and all characters will have.
You essence will determine how certain characters act around you. Some characters will be more receptive to certain essences while others will reject them. Depending on the choice you make, you'll find your story and the path Gus takes to be constantly changing. You team up with different party members, find yourself in different places, and even altering the story in major ways depending on your essence.
There are six different essence types with unique characteristics and attributes. Your essence can be changed from nearly any aspect of the game. Using an item, examining things around the world, talking to NPCs, and your choices in battle will all have an impact on your essence type. More details on each essence will be leading up to the release of the demo.
GLITCHED use traditional turn based combat with a few twists. First off, there is no leveling or random monster encounters. All combat is story based, and players will be making choices leading up to these battles that may or may not force a battle. Leveling up and experience are also removed, and instead players will have to use party members and equipment in order to change how they fight in battle.
Actions in battle are limited to three types: Fighting, Interacting, & Goodies. You'll be able to attack enemies and when they cannot fight anymore you'll be able to choose to kill or spare them. You might also choose to interact with your enemy. Each party member you obtain will have a different way of interact with their foes, from talking to flirting. And last, you'll be able to use items in battle to bring about various effects.
Our soundtrack will be composed by one of our devs from En House Studios (Justin) and our friend, Stijn Van Wakeren.
