Before Crisis tells the story of the Investigation Sector of The General Affairs Department, also simply known as Turks, a organization working for the Shinra Electric Power Company, a famous name in the world of Final Fantasy 7.

Before Crisis starts seven years before the events of FF7, and you get to see the daily life of the turks, making missions for the company, fighting against the first group of mercenaries known as AVALANCHE, who are trying to protect the planet from ShinRA, who is little by little destroying it, taking the mako energy from the earth (That in this case, is the planet Gaia).

You basically play as the villain, seeing their perspectives of what they do, even though it may look wrong for everyone else.

Famous characters of the FF7 universe are present, as Reno, Rude, and Tseng. But you play as Shotgun, a rookie starting your first day working for the turks, and you see her journey in those seven years, meeting all the new turks, looking for a reason to keep fighting, and witnessing events that will lead to the beginning of FF7.

*This is a remake of the game Before Crisis released only in Japan.

Episode Tseng
* Fixed issue where Veld would re-appear if you exited and re-entered some rooms.
* Made sure Tseng's name appears as Tseng in the main menu and save \ load menu.

Main Game
* Fixed many incorrect spellings and punctuation mistakes.
* Added in extra text in certain scenes from the original translation script.
* Re-wrote a few sentences to make more sense.
* Changed all instances of Zach to Zack.
* Changed all instances of Caith Sith to Cait Sith.
* Made sure whenever another character is being controlled that their name and picture appears correctly in the menu screens.
* Removed character label of "Gunslinger" I don’t think it worked well when you had to switch characters.
* Made Shotgun learn Cure at Level 5 instead of Cura (Cura is found in Hojo's lab later)
* Made both Cure and Cura less effective (they were completely healing the main character).
* Made Bomb enemy give less EXP.
* Made sure health and magic is restored correctly at the start of each new chapter.
* Changed some triggers in the Manor on Chapter 13 so you can no longer accidently skip finding the classified reports.
* Added Antidote to Shinra Shop.
* Added in Fake Veld fight in the lab illusion section.
* Added Shinra Troopers Enemies to Chapter 22 (Shinra HQ Section) - includes Shinra Solider and Attack Dog
* Gave Fuhito some different attacks
* Added the ability to return to the spider room at the start of mission 24.
* Gave Zirconiade some different attacks - added a 40+ one use only attack when he gets to under 20% life.

Misc
* Changed video resolution to wide-screen aspect (it wasn't working on my screen). If this causes issues the original video file is there.

You need to run the rpg_rt.exe for it to work, but i don't know how it would work on a macbook.

Hi, I've met this error when launching the game. My GPU is Intel Iris Graphics 6100 with the latest driver.

Hi! Thank you for this game. I downloaded it and played it immediately on my Win7 PC and got to Chapter 6 (or 7) already but unfortunately, an error "Event script referenced an event that does not exist" suddenly appeared. I tried searching for fixes to and try if I could fix it myself but I can't. I had checked which map I was from the last save point I had which was Map0175.lmu

I double checked all the .lmu files and it was all existing per number. I don't want to delete any file or configure anything since I think this is solely a mapping error. Is there anything you can do to fix this?

Hope you respond soon. I'm restless in finishing this game. Haha! Thanks!

Found the exact .lmu file where I stopped access on the game and where the error appeared: It was file Map0183.lmu and it seems to me there had really been a bug on that file but I just don't know how to fix it. Would be nice if you could at least provide a modified file for Map0183.lmu to Map0184.lmu and see if I could just overwrite the files.

Been wanting to play this game for years, shame Square-Enix never ported it to other devices. There's also another Japanese exclusive mobile game called Dirge of Cerberus - Lost Episode which I want to play but can't find it anywhere, would be awesome if someone could do a fan remake of that too.

PD: Are you planning on remaking the sprites, tilesets, etc, to something less mobile version?? If not, could I use your remake as a base for a graphic remake of this great game??

Hi. Sorry, but i think that the original japanese text is kind lost at this point. There was a full playthrough on youtube, japanese with subtitles, but it seems to have been deleted.

It has some different bugs on different computers. The best that i can recommend is copying the game to another computer (the save files along), getting past the bug, and then copying the game back to the original computer. Or maybe trying the chapter again. Some bugs do happen if someone scrolls to fast through the dialogue boxes, so i recommend to skip it only when the text is completely on the screen and the characters have finished their movement on the cutscene.

I think that i'm done with it. I have thought on reworking the battle system, as i now have the experience and knowledge to develop an efficient action battle system, but i don't have the time or interest anymore.
Feel free to do a graphic remake of it. It sure is going to be some work.

You just need to look for the rpg_rt.exe in the main folder, and run it.
The game seems to run well. I do have the issue that the game doesn't seem to know what up is. I can go down, left, right. Can't go up. I can also go up in menus (but not down). I do not have a controller connected and use a standard keyboard and mouse with no special settings or peripherals.

Is there a way to change the controls?
Edit: Right after posting this I gave it another try, even tried W and Up and Numpad 8 at the same time, with and without the numpad lock. Tried a few more keys and then up and suddenly up worked...?

Welp, no idea why but it works now.
This is amazing, start to finish. Game runs smoothly and battle system is more than playable.

There are some typos and grammatical errors, however. I'm willing to clean it up a bit and revise the entire script if you plan to do another update. Please send me a message with details (such as the current script) and we can discuss further.
