Chapter One is Finally Done

Hey, everyone! It's been a while. Last time I made a post I said the first chapter would be done and out to my beta testers by Thursday I think? Obviously, that didn't happen. I can't emphasize enough how long this freaking game is taking to make. I finished the first chapter a few days ago, and literally the past two days have been nothing but me going through and polishing the game up. It took me a good 20-25 hours to go through everything and fix it up/add in mundane stuff that put off until later (like all of the things affected by difficulty), which is absolutely ridiculous. I am honestly appalled at the sheer amount of time and effort it required to polish this up. There were more than a few points where I fantasized about just stopping and putting the game on hiatus until I regained some sense of sanity. But I pushed through it. Somehow. And now it's done. Finally.

So I'm uploading the game as I type this. I'm going to send it out to my beta testers as soon as it's done uploading. And then I think what I'm going to do is I'm going to take a break from making Danganronpa Team for a little while. I need a little bit of time away from this after how long I spent making that first chapter. I'm thinking that I'll take a break from it until finals week is over and I'm home for the holiday break. I'll see if I can belt out Chapter Two during that break. We'll see. After how long the first chapter took to make I'm not feeling very optimistic about how long it's going to take to make the rest of the chapters.

It's been a long, tiring road getting to this point. I'm proud of what I've made so far, but it's going to be a much, much longer and a much, much more tiring road making the rest of the game. I honestly have absolutely no estimate for when this game is going to be finished at this point. I'm not going to work myself to death over it, so it could be a while. Hopefully the next chapters will go a bit more smoothly now that I've done everything once, I have all my systems in place, and I know what I'm doing. But we'll see. It's still going to be a heck of a lot of work, even with that all being said.

So going back to the taking a break from making this thing, don't expect another update on this until mid-December. And even then, the update will probably just be me saying "okay, break is starting so I'm going to get back to work on this game".

Now, I'm tired as heck after spending the past 13 hours straight on this, so I'm going to finish uploading this beta release and try to get a little rest. Have a happy Thanksgiving (if you celebrate it), and see you next month.

I feel ya man. Setting benchmarks for completing a game is an easy thing to do, but then when you actually get down to it, you learn it's 147.5% more work than you had anticipated and realize that goal's not happenin'. That being said, thanks for all your hard work. I suggest your next goal be formulating a plan for how you intend to recover from the inevitable impending turkey-induced coma that is rapidly approaching. Have a happy Thanksgiving!
