Murder! At the St. Hyssmark Monastery!
Bacon Jam 2016 - "It's like one of those BBC mystery shows except it takes place in Final Fantasy"

Text and character heavy, a classic whodunnit, alternates between find-the-clue exploration and accuse-the-perp excoriation, one to two hours depending on your reading speed and attention to detail
Present day, 1206: William Byske, an agent of the magical special ops unit Arcane Reconnaissance Corps (ARC) is tasked to guard the ambassador on a diplomatic mission. Ambassador Belgrave is pompous, incompetent, and generally a dick, but, even so... when he's killed at the St. Hyssmark Monastery from a blow to the head and with a mysterious wire-tail swallow jammed in his throat, it falls to William to solve the case and prevent all-out war.
The Swallow's Descent is the entry from mjshi, KatanaHiroshi, and psy_wombats (plus InfectionFiles) for the McBaconjam 2016 event, completed in a month. The game features:
- A classic whodunnit to be solved (or just enjoyed)
- A cast of mostly unfriendly characters for William to deal with
- A collection of expressive character portraits by the talented mjshi
- A detailed monastery to stumble over
- A lot of objects to search. Everything is searchable!
- A fully choreographed text/cutscene experience
- A not at all original soundtrack from Presence of Music and Eric Matyas (http://www.soundimage.org)

You can trap yourself in the locked room with the paintings. You can enter it after the scene with the murder of B. but then the door is locked again and going through the secret passage is bugged.
Should there be different endings? I tried some, but they where the same nonetheless.

Even when choosing the Cardinal the ending is the same as choosing Belgrave

Can you please specify more? What room? Is it the unused bedroom where there are a lot of paintings?
Now that's the thing I don't understand at all. But for the different endings, we don't know about that. The reason why we never had one was due to the time limit we had on our project for a certain jam. I don't know if some of the team knew that a tech demo is quite a thing, but this is more likely a McBacon Jam 3 version (Or it would be the actual one).
Sorry for the inconvenience you had! We'll try to improve the game. :)

Fixed the trapped room bug, thanks for pointing it out, thought I'd nabbed that one.
The choice at the end is an "envelope submission," it has no effect on the ending. There are no plans to continue development.

Whoever came up with title for the game was very clever. Not just literal to the storyline, there's actually a drink called Swallow Nest Beverage.

Whoever came up with title for the game was very clever. Not just literal to the storyline, there's actually a drink called Swallow Nest Beverage.
It was actually me who came up with the title. Though, I remember that we did a lot of interpretations for said title (we went full Latin on it). In the end, after some research and considering that a swallow is signified as freedom, The Swallow's Descent became the title.
Even so, it was for the team to decide whether or not it should be used. I think I don't remember some of the chat text, but that's just it.
