Note: I DID NOT MAKE THIS. It is a translated project from German.
It was originally created by Kelven. I had his permission to translate it. Even though I did not make it, I put a lot of working into completely translating this, including having to redo many picture graphics, many messages, etc.

Requirements: RTP. Font patch for best gaming experience.

Story: Taking place somewhere in California, the game follows Sandra Richmont, who was traveling with her parents to visit their uncle. After an argument and a bathroom stop, her parents appear to have driven off without her. Thinking that her parents plan to stay overnight in the nearest city, Dusty Creek, Sandra heads towards there. However, after meeting two others who are stranded, she realizes that they are trapped and the city has some dark secrets...

The gameplay consists of solving puzzles, adventure game style. If you need a walkthrough, there's one included in the game folder. However, it's in German, so you can try to babelfish it or something.

WARNING: When you are poisoned in the mines, do not begin the cart pushing puzzle until you have found the antidote. Otherwise you can't get it later and can't beat the game (if you save.) I actually could have fixed this bug, but it was in the original and I wanted to leave all of the coding 100% intact.

Everything has been translated, from dialogue to pictures.
The game utilizes 99% custom graphics created by Kelven, who took the effort to make nearly everything examinable, all drawers/cabinets openable and examinable, and has pumped out probably 20 or so games. (Which all have mostly custom graphics I think.)

IF YOU NEED HELP GETTING DESERT NIGHTMARE TO RUN:

Pop me a message on AIM: AznChipmunk99
and I will personally help you to get it started and answer any questions you may have. I didn't realize that my translations would've been noticed at all, so I wasn't prepared for this, but I can help anyone who is trying to get it to work.

Hopefully, people will stop leaving messages that it doesn't work.

Interestingly enough, I just had a 5 star review posted mentioning the quality of the translation itself. Admittedly, I don't personally think it's the best possible translation that I could do now as I finished this a few years back, and I didn't translate it in one sitting, but rather worked on it as a side-project over the course of a year or so; it took a long time to translate every single event on 200 odd individual maps and another couple hundred individual images. Due to this, the consistency of the translation is probably lacking and I may have translated the same words or phrasing in different manners, and other such odd things.

However, there shouldn't be any sort of cut off sentences or words. If that happens to you, you must have some sort of incorrect or lacking font patch--otherwise, either the people I had beta test or the good number of people who've played the final product probably would've noticed it. I personally made sure to check that nothing cut the edges either.

If you do need a walkthrough, there's one in the game's folder, although it's in German. You'll have to Google Translate it or something.

Ahh, well I was looking for the antidote in the mine and I went into a room. The screen faded to black and I thought there was a cut scene coming but instead it just crashed and said Error: could not locate event.

I'm sorry about this. As I said, I did nothing to handle the actual events in the game, just all of the text. In the future I'll probably bugfix anything that I find in future translation projects, but I felt bad about releasing a "bugfixed" version of someone else's game, even though I had the creator's permission to translate it.

If you're still stuck, the best thing you can probably do is just try to go into the game itself and find where it crashes and try to fix it...
I played this game last night from start to finish, pretty cool.
Not very scary, but it had a decent storyline to say the least.
Glad you translated it!
I spent a good chunk of tonight playing this game from start to finish. That was some trippy stuff. Gotta give it to the creator he must have lived in front of editing programs coming up with all the custom artwork and such to go with this project.

Either way thanks for taking the time to translate this Azn I had fun with it.

Oh, yes, I remember this, great game and VERY scary.
All of a sudden this game is very popular because Cry played it. x3
Found a spot in the shed where there's a misspelling. I forget the word. Something to do with the paint cans. A couple other spots where the German hadn't been translated to English, mostly when you're in the.. dress! That area of the game.
Does anyone know how to like get the game up to play it? Cause I'm confused o.o
This post has been hidden by the game developer. Click here to show the post anyway.

Download the RTP for RM2k (google to find), and put it in the game folder.
This game was really good, (little lack of sounds explosion! but cry (a let's player) made them in his video on youtube about your game). He did a pretty good job playing it too:P So yeah the game was really great! If you make another one, i would put more horror in it:P like live torture would be fun!

Thanks and have a nice day
I cant Open it on my computer it says "RunTimePackage not found. Install RTPe.exe"
can anyone help me on this ive got no clue
I was pleasantly surprised by the character development of the three leads. Which makes me sad when I look at how badly the "Indian" character was executed. He plays the role of stock magical native without any deviation from the stereotype, unlike the other main characters. Plus the friendly tribe he visited must've been half way across the country, since he came back with tipis and dream catchers.
This was a great game, I watched a lets play and enjoyed it thoroughly
