This remix of ABL contains upgraded graphics and sound and should be considered the definitive version; it has three to four hours of gameplay beyond the end of the previous release, which was entitled THE LINE NARROWS.

What was originally one game has been split into two due to the release of RMXP, so I'm marking ABL 2.1 as 'Complete.' Don't laugh! The second half of the game will be released in RMXP as LINE'S END, and will have a separate entry on RMN.

Okay, now you can laugh. ^_^

So.. Where did Line's End go? It seems it was deleted.

Noticed the same thing... and so soon after that one screenshot was posted. We've been waiting since Winter of 03, so I'm not giving up hope yet, but the disappearance is disconcerting :\
This guy thinking fan of his games are idiots. No respect for all fans. He saw messages about lines and. Pepoles send him a pw messages but he even not respond.
He just removed the topic.Sry but i think this guy since 2003 making some stupid jokes and think fans of his games is just a bunch of idiots. That is how it looks. Its sad..Lys you should start making this game in rm2k to show us - we wrong otherway you left a bad taste about your self...
If people are so concerned over this, maybe they should make their own version and be done with it. I really doubt Lys would care, as I'm sure he's busy with other things in life other than games.
Honestly I think it's more of a matter of having decency. If he doesn't ever plan on releasing Lines End, I think the respectful thing to do would be to let the fans know and perhaps offer the script to someone who is willing to finish it.

If he'd hand the script of Lines End to someone who is willing, I have a feeling we'd see the game within a year. I know there are a bunch of people who would love to make it. Though it's him not telling anyone anything as usual.

Don't get me wrong, I'm a fan of his games but honestly.
So you're feeling disrespected by not having the sequel?
i THINK everyone who waiting for lines such a long time feel disrespected. Second thing - its line end - so only LYS know how to finish cause its his dialog style and characters, and story.

Yes. It looked like everything was coming along. It was one of Lashe City with some guards. There was fog in the shot, and it was clearly RMXP. I saw it a few weeks before the whole thing was taken down.

I looked for it in Google's cache and in the Wayback machine, but to no avail :\ it was this year or very close to when the project was deleted or whatnot.

It wasn't a full-size screenshot. Just a tiny little thumbnail. Sorry I don't have any proof, but I'm sure it was there! That and Lys' commitment to finish it ("not in his chemistry" to leave things unfinished) and I'm still waiting.

/hopes that waiting isn't in vain, but it's been nearly 10 years!

The screenshot you guys are referencing is one that was uploaded to the site to compliment an April Fool's joke involving Line's End. Solitayre did a "in-depth review" of the alleged game complete with accompanying screenshots. None of it was true -- it was all a joke.

I seriously doubt Lys will ever finish the game and this is coming from a guy who has slept on his couch.

:( some joke... oh well, guess it's better to have a good game with no end rather than no game. If that's true, and who am I to doubt that it is, I wish an official statement could be made announcing that the project is dead so that everyone wouldn't need to keep on waiting. Perhaps the deletion of the project on this site is the symbolic form of that statement, but something in writing wouldn't hurt.

Being led on by promises that it's still alive and active while seeing fabricated screenshots... that's just disappointing.
I would love for him to release a statement that says either

A.) It will be out for sure.

If A is true, then a release date would be nice. Or updated screen shots, perhaps maybe even a video. In other words to justify 10 years of waiting.

B.) He will not be able to finish it.

If B is true, then I think he should just say it, maybe then he could pass along the script to someone on here who would be willing to make it. Hell I'm willing to guess that if he did offer to do that, it might actually become a community project.

Priorities change. I don't really know the guy but I'm sure Lys' have in the 10+ years since he first started the game. Dude's gotta be well into his 30s by now, right? Also isn't he a lawyer?

Still, definitely a shame... it was a good piece of cyberpunk. And I'm a man who enjoys his cyberpunk.
30, 40 no matter. Passion is important and fans ;p
I have to agree with Naedeslus. I can understand if Lys' priorities change, but there's GOT to be enough time to give an official statement on whether or not he's going to finish it. I mean he WAS online here in August of last year. Also if he definitely doesn't want to finish it, it would be very very nice to post the script somewhere so we can read how all the puzzle pieces come together. This kind of silence is just cruel. I'm really starting to regret that I played this game at all and I'm definitely not playing any other demos from him. Also I do start to get thoughts like X-Tech that Lys really enjoys leaving his idiot fans hanging, because nobody who loves his fans remains silent about his game for 10 fricking years AND does the occasional forum post, implying that he would indeed have time for a statement if he wanted to.

Lys, you're evil and I'm through with this game. I don't care for your story and plot twists anymore. You just go on and be absorbed in your work, fighting other lawyers for money, having complex discussions about the law and having a generally enervating job, without the creative counterweight you had 10 years ago. It's not like cutting back on work is impossible nowadays, especially in a high-class-job like yours. Money isn't everything, you know, and in my experience it's even inversely proportional to happiness, because the fear of not having enough grows the more money one has. It's like drinking sea water. I've finished studying Computer Science a while ago and now I'm earning a decent amount as well, so I do know that feeling.
Dude, it's just a game, you're not going to die if you don't find out the ending. That said, if Lys is no longer around the community, he's not really a part of the community, and I say the game should be treated like any other commercial venture, in that it should be free game for anybody that would like to attempt a fan sequel. But I'm not going to have a heart attack over it if it's never done.

Lol, that's beyond my expectations. Thank you! ^^

@amerkevicius: I got an ending for you: Kersh marries Emily, Talan kills Emily and Talan becomes more powerful than Kersh so he becomes unstoppable. What do you think?

I don't think anybody owes anything to "their" fans, which they never asked for. If that's how people felt, they would never do anything worthwhile of their lives, art or hobbies.

Not bad, although I'd imagine the reason for it would have been pretty unique. And that is the biggest question of all. What would lead Talon to do the things he did? My thought is that both Kersh and Talon are so blinded by their own reasonings of what they think is right, they blame each other when something bad happens, and bring other innocent people into their plight. We only assume that when Talon allegedly kills Emily, it's murder, but what if it was an accident? While cutting the cables seemed like a heartless act, what if the sacrifice of a few hundred saves thousands?

My point, though, is that people are so angry over not getting a finale. I understand the frustration. I would have loved a finale to Don Coscarelli's Phantasm movies years ago, but I highly doubt it will happen. While it's generally taboo to tag off another indie developer's game without permission (unlike the countless of fan rips/sequels to commercial titles), if it's that big of a concern a decent developer and game writer should just pull a team to discuss what the sequel should have been like and what may have happened, develop a game for it and make it known it's not the official version, and leave it at that. If Lys then decides to release something official, or objects to the fan game, he can say something.
Well, the ending I got for you were just a few things I got out of the intro of the actual game. ;-) Also I don't think Talan is saving people by cutting cables because he told himself not to lose focus when confronting Kersh. I'd like to know why Kersh didn't try to stop him personally though.

If anyone wants to create a fan-made ending, feel free to do it. As long as Lys doesn't react at all, I can see no problems or taboos there.
