Acrylic is an original mystery-horror style game made exclusively using RPG Maker MV. As a fanatic of RPG Maker games myself (especially horror), I have been heavily inspired by some leaders in the genre such as The Witch's House, Ao Oni, etc. I have experienced so much fun (and scares) from these games, I wanted to try to share that with others! It initially started as a small project made for my younger sister, Nicole, a fellow spook-seeker and college art student. As time went on, the ideas grew and grew and it turned into quite the endeavor!

In Acrylic, you play as Nicole, a senior art student at the esteemed Acrylic Academy. Though she is close to finishing her final year, she needs to head to the school one night for a quick errand. Accompanied by her quirky sister, Joelle, she soon realizes that the building she has spent the past few years in is still, in a dark and twisted way, completely unknown to her.

Work cooperatively as Nicole and Joelle, exploring and interacting with the school in different ways to find out all you can. Experience 20 different brutal deaths, stay safe from all kinds of evil and traps, and see if you can be the one to solve the mysteries of Acrylic Academy!

This game does contain mild jumpscares, profanity, scenes of violence (not graphically shown, however is heavily detailed in text), minor blood/gore, mention of suicide, several chase-scenes, and shocking content.

Those with weak hearts who don't enjoy being scared are advised to refrain from playing Acrylic. This is entirely a work of fiction, with any similarities to real people or events being purely coincidental.

* Approximately 3+ hours of gameplay
* 3 possible endings
* Original puzzles
* 20 varied death experiences (so explore cautiously!)
* Item collection quests
* Mild chase scenes
* Original bust graphics and sprites
* Gamepad-friendly

I strongly recommend installing the included fonts before beginning your play-through. There are events throughout the game that utilize various typefaces and I would hate for the game to bug out if they were not installed. (:

Looking For Bigger Experts Than Myself!

Hello Gamers!

Soooo.... I am aware that not too long ago I promised an update for Acrylic with some bug fixes and adjustments with the much appreciated help of you lovely people. Thank you all so much for your input! It has been so necessary for me, considering this is my first released game and all. It has been extremely helpful and constructive!

The update... well, it IS on the way. I assure you!
Most of the bugs have been fixed actually, though there are a few giving me some serious trouble. And rather than release an update with some basic typos and mapping issues resolved, I wanted to do it right by you folks!

In addition, I had some family issues to attend to out-of-state. I won't pry into details here, but they were unexpected and essentially a surprise to me, which is why things have been delayed and I have been a bit absent in my feedback. For that, I am really sorry. I am trying to finish the last of the fixes really soon here. I'm not quite back home yet so an exact timeframe isn't something I can really offer. I am hoping in the next week or so. Lucky for me, I have some limited alone time tonight so I may slave away to try to crank this out even sooner.

In terms of those really tricky bugs getting me...
If there is anyone more familiar with RPG Maker MV (I am sure there is, haha!) who would be willing to give some advice, that would be incredible! I am sure I am just missing something small... I hope! I'll detail the big spoiler-free issues below if anyone wants to take a gander at em! Otherwise, it's trial and error and google til I can get you guys a much better version of the game I love!

Again, thank you folks so much!
Happy Gaming!

Issues Detailed Below

The biggest among those right now is a chase mechanic... I essentially have an event that chases you and requires certain items be used when touched. However, there is VERY little time between these interactions to get away. Even if you offer Item #1 and it is correct, the time you have to get away before being prompted to offer Item #2, which you may not even have yet, is very short. Meaning, you practically instantly trigger another touch event and die a tragic death! This happens also if you are examining something else on the map, and the event comes in touches you. It's a bit unfair. The best way to show you is in this video. It is linked at the appropriate time. After the dialogue, "Oh Okay," the event ends but the next one starts up immediately with "Tessa, just wait!" without any real chance to get away. This leaves the player basically having to gather and solve everything before approaching the event at all.

Any tips on proper lighting? I am just DREADFUL, completely awful in this department. I am using an image overlay for the dark area when the player does not have a flashlight. However, it appears to be much too dark. Anyone have a different overlay or help I can use? I want it to be visible around you but not as clear as when the flashlight is in use. Check out this video to see the difference. Again, it is linked at the appropriate time of the video.

Yikes! Thanks so much for the heads up and I'm really sorry for the problem!

I am working on an update this weekend and that is the first problem I want to address. I've heard a few people say it's working and some say it isn't oddly enough, so I will be messing around with it to remedy it as best as I can and as soon as I can. I hope it will be fixed REALLY soon but if you are on the edge of your seat to see the alternate endings, there is a video that shows them if you just can't wait!

Thanks so much for playing!
Again, so sorry for the problem. It is definitely on the forefront of my efforts! (:
Soooo i'm stuck.
I'm trying to get Joelle out of the closet, found the necessary item, but I don't have the key number?? What would be the most efficient way of finding them numbers?
The Word you sie on the Door if you use the other Option over the one to put the Code tells you that on the Door is a Word written. The Word is D I E.
Now count to each Letter. D would be 4 an so on.
Okay, I haven't left a comment in a while for anyone, but decided that I can't resist voicing my opinion on this game :D
First of all, loved the story. It was sad, emotional and the endings were great. The maps were great since there was a lot to explore and A LOT of items to interact with. The puzzles - not too hard, solvable on your own, however you might wander for a long while around before figuring out what you are supposed to do. ( the part with the bagpack killed me, took forever to figure out what I needed and where it was...:D ) However what you could improve, would be the drawings. Nicole, was drawn quite decently, but her boyfriend...I don't mean to be rude since i myself can't draw, but such great game deserves a better art. Maybe you could hire someone if you will make a sequal or anything else ? :)
Over all, this was a fun and great experience, thank you :)

P.s If you will ever need a beta tester or something - contact me :D
Hey there. Just wanted to let you know that your game was one I chose to do for my First Impression series on my YouTube channel. I will also be leaving a review momentarily, once I figure out what I should say. It is my first review, after all. I hope you enjoy the video, and thanks for a good game :D
I know it's been quite a while since this game has been released...
Anyway, I started playing this game and it's really good, but I'm stuck. When I take the flashlight on the first floor, the game freezes and I can't do anything
