Looking For Bigger Experts Than Myself!

Hello Gamers!

Soooo.... I am aware that not too long ago I promised an update for Acrylic with some bug fixes and adjustments with the much appreciated help of you lovely people. Thank you all so much for your input! It has been so necessary for me, considering this is my first released game and all. It has been extremely helpful and constructive!

The update... well, it IS on the way. I assure you!
Most of the bugs have been fixed actually, though there are a few giving me some serious trouble. And rather than release an update with some basic typos and mapping issues resolved, I wanted to do it right by you folks!

In addition, I had some family issues to attend to out-of-state. I won't pry into details here, but they were unexpected and essentially a surprise to me, which is why things have been delayed and I have been a bit absent in my feedback. For that, I am really sorry. I am trying to finish the last of the fixes really soon here. I'm not quite back home yet so an exact timeframe isn't something I can really offer. I am hoping in the next week or so. Lucky for me, I have some limited alone time tonight so I may slave away to try to crank this out even sooner.

In terms of those really tricky bugs getting me...
If there is anyone more familiar with RPG Maker MV (I am sure there is, haha!) who would be willing to give some advice, that would be incredible! I am sure I am just missing something small... I hope! I'll detail the big spoiler-free issues below if anyone wants to take a gander at em! Otherwise, it's trial and error and google til I can get you guys a much better version of the game I love!

Again, thank you folks so much!
Happy Gaming!

Issues Detailed Below

The biggest among those right now is a chase mechanic... I essentially have an event that chases you and requires certain items be used when touched. However, there is VERY little time between these interactions to get away. Even if you offer Item #1 and it is correct, the time you have to get away before being prompted to offer Item #2, which you may not even have yet, is very short. Meaning, you practically instantly trigger another touch event and die a tragic death! This happens also if you are examining something else on the map, and the event comes in touches you. It's a bit unfair. The best way to show you is in this video. It is linked at the appropriate time. After the dialogue, "Oh Okay," the event ends but the next one starts up immediately with "Tessa, just wait!" without any real chance to get away. This leaves the player basically having to gather and solve everything before approaching the event at all.

Any tips on proper lighting? I am just DREADFUL, completely awful in this department. I am using an image overlay for the dark area when the player does not have a flashlight. However, it appears to be much too dark. Anyone have a different overlay or help I can use? I want it to be visible around you but not as clear as when the flashlight is in use. Check out this video to see the difference. Again, it is linked at the appropriate time of the video.

Spoiler-Free Guide Available!

Hello Gamers!

Really quick update here!

I am working on several bugs or issues right now so I hope to have an improved updated download available today or tomorrow. The biggest task will be fixing the issues people are having with the pencil count since they are crucial to two of the three endings. If you have finished the game and are on the edge of your seat or something to see the alternate endings, I do have a video here so you can see them and not be stuck waiting on me! Just know that this issue is the biggest priority and will be resolved as quickly and as soon as possible for you lovelies! Acrylic Academy is aggressive enough without it magically eating your pencils!

EDIT: I am still looking into it but I believe the pencil count should still be correct in achieving the endings. At this point, I believe the only issue is the Pencil Case actually giving the wrong number. In all other respects though, I believe any acquired pencils are being considered for the determination of the ending. If anyone is able to keep track on their own for now, I believe it should all work still. The upcoming update will fix this, however, so you don't have to keep track of that Pencil #.

In the meantime, I have uploaded a spoiler-free guide to the Downloads section to help anyone struggling with some of the puzzles or item collection. Feel free to refer to it if need be! But here are some other basic tips if you want to try to beat the game without it:

* Pay close attention to the bulletin boards and posting. They typically hint to where you should look.

* Don't be afraid to hang onto certain items for later use. If something doesn't have a clear use at the moment (like the "Cheese" item), don't sweat it. The game is a bit long and some things are best saved for later! Some people have worried if it is okay to hang onto the "Cheddar Chunk" given its certain consequences in other locations. It is perfectly fine and you should not have to worry about getting the cheese and then being stuck because of it.

* When obtaining new items, don't be afraid to check out their descriptions. I tried to make a few of them hint at their use for you!

I will be diligently working on the update today and will have it out as soon as I can. Let me know if there is anything else you think would improve the game experience. For example, I may try to add "shiny" effects to items as they are not always easy to find. I also know there are some scenes with funny dialogue between the girls, when Nicole is alone. Those are simple mistakes in sequencing and will be fixed soon!

Thanks again so much for all the feedback!
Happy Gaming! (:

Acrylic's Future

Hello Gamers!

First let me just shout out a huge THANKS to anyone who downloaded the game and is trying it out! Despite being my first released horror-style game, the feedback has been fairly positive and I am over the moon about all of it!

With it being my first release and just version 1.0, I will be sure to make updates and patches available as I learn about the issues. If you happen to get stuck at any point, and it is not related to a coding error or something, feel free to check out my YouTube channel (WickedHardcorg) where a play-through is complete. Only use it for hints though! :P I will be working on a spoiler-free guide this weekend as well that will be shared at a later time. See if you can survive the school on your own first, friends! :P

In the meantime, before I do update though, here are a few things to keep in mind:

* Install the fonts included in the download. It will offer the best game experience and many future cutscenes utilize them. I would hate for any progress to be lost for anyone because of this!

* You can save at any time by accessing your menu (ESC).
I strongly advise that you save often as Acrylic is a very... err... aggressive place.

* If you're unhappy with the controls, they can be reworked in the same menu. Gamepads included!

* Keep track of your # deaths and # pencils using Nicole's ID and Pencil Case respectively. I've heard some reports of them not being accurate. If this is the case, it will be the FIRST issue to be addressed in the update as they are key to the multiple endings. If you are unable to obtain all endings and I have yet to update, the endings are also on the YouTube channel referenced above. I strongly apologize for any issues here. Just know that they are at the top of my priority list.

If there are any other issues that you encounter, please do not hesitate to let me know either via this page or any of my social profiles.

Again, gamers, thank you so much for the support!
I greatly appreciate it and I am even more excited (which I didn't think was possible) to give you guys some more games in the future!

Happy Gaming!

Download Issue Resolved

Hello Gamers!

A new download is available!

Unfortunately, many people were having issues with the first download I provided for Acrylic. However, it is has since been resolved and should be in working order now!Sorry for the inconvenience, friends!

I suppose I should have realized when the game file was only 100MB instead of 418MB!

Enjoy and let me know if there are any further issues.

Officially Live!

Hello Gamers!

First, let me say thanks for taking the time to check out my new game's page.
It is much appreciated and I am really excited!

As stated in the description, this game is heavily inspired from games like Witch's House, Blank Dream, and many other glorious horror RPG games. I am simply OBSESSED with them and after making plenty of traditional RPGs, so to speak, I really wanted to give it a shot and make my own scary game.

Since it is my first horror game, please be gentle on it. I know there's always room for improvement but this little project was my baby for a while! As you guys surely know, lots of time goes into any RPG Maker endeavor. Any feedback though would be greatly received. Even though this is my first horror-themed game, I sure hope it won't be my last!

Though I don't think it will be an issue, if anyone gets stuck, feel free to refer to the text document included with the download. It provides a few hints for finishing the game to its completion. You can also reach out to me or feel free to check out my own video walkthrough of it on YouTube; I go by the same name as here, Wicked Hardcorg... but try to get through it yourselves first!

If anyone has any issues with the game, don't hesitate to let me know and I will be sure to remedy it quickly. Also, if anyone plays through the whole game or does a Let's Play or anything, make sure it reaches my eyes! I would absolutely love the feedback.

Hope you guys enjoy playing it as much as I enjoyed creating it.
Happy Gaming!
