Whu?

Oh hai, it looks like this project has switched back to its original concept and I updated the maker to MZ...does that mean this isn't actually vaporware and actually still getting worked on? Check back in four years and see.

Heh, you know how these things go. But thank you, you've been a true gent to me through this process. :)

I never really *quite* stopped working on it, just started to suffocate under the bloated workload I created for myself. MZ brings along some key improvements that make things substantially easier, primary thing being the damage styles featured in the Visustella Battle Core. Balancing is still gonna be a sucky process, but now that I don't have to wrangle with the insanely complicated damage formulas I cobbled together to emulate FF. Now I can just plug in a damage constant.

Also, I'm ditching the class system. For now.

Big challenge now is going to be fiddling with everything to get the visuals and layout to match FF3 as much as possible, most of that work is already done but there are plenty of problems both new and familiar that have me ripping my hair out. Overall tho, upgrading to MV clears a lot of hurdles and smooths out the process.
Lemme know if you need a custom tile here or there and I'll see what I can do!
MZ?
Bummer. I was really looking forward to another 2k3 project ringing the bell of Completion. Speaking of which, I haven't forgotten Moonsong, Kaempfer. I'm just waiting a perfect time to really settle in and enjoy >:)

Oh, you know me and dem crazy tiles, I could always use more. The tilset is pretty robust at this point, place I've always felt it weakest was in my town tileset, where the buildings use the sprites I ripped from Zoda's Revenge and work for rustic areas, but not larger cities. I used some of the town walls from the ff7 bootleg, which I like but am probably going to redo in a simpler style. None of that is high priority, right now I am 100% about battles and balancing.

Still the simplest and best way to gam mak, but I don't have a Mac so MZ it is. I can do a lot of stuff with MZ I couldn't with r2k3, if the trade-off is worth it for all the complications it creates remains to be seen.

This image was too big to hotlink!
Ditto this one! ???

I've been fiddling around with from-scratch NES graphics (the best I can do at the moment is redrawing existing tiles, but from a legal stand point that counts *COUGHS LOUDLY*) and I found these in my search for things to, uh, be inspired by. Wouldn't something like this work for big cities? These are both from Zoda's Revenge. I wish someone would rip the FF7 demake's overhaul that romhacking did.

This project used to be in MV, didn't it? I seem to remember discussions about tile scaling up to the stupid 48x48 resolution.
Yeah, I've been staring at those for years and I feel like I can *almost* see how I would use them for a castle town...it's maddening.

And yeah, it used to be in MV, though I think I've worked on this project through every single maker.
LockeZ
I'd really like to get rid of LockeZ. His play style is way too unpredictable. He's always like this too. If he ran a country, he'd just kill and imprison people at random until crime stopped.

Except all the graphics and sound and story and general area design are all carried over, which makes the re-implementation of those things go extremely quickly, and the design might stay more or less exactly the same. I'm not pro-engine switching, but it's hardly the same thing as abandoning a project.
I abandon two project a day by the time I drink my coffee in the morning.
