This is my entry for the A Halloween Horror Contest 2016.

Sean has a crush on a girl in his class. She is so shy and never talks to anyone but him.

Tomorrow will be Valentines day, the weather report says it will stop raining, the sun will shine and it's also a Sunday. A perfect day.

If only Sean hadn't forgotten his present at school. Desperate to save the next day he sneaks into the school building to get it, but soon he feels a strange presence and remembers the school mysteries about some ghosts that are trapped inside the building.

Features:
- The game is focused on atmosphere and fear of the unknown
- No? jumpscares
- (more or less) dynamic light - Torchlight gameplay
- Dynamic flashes! (\°O°/) (Okay, this isn't a feature, but I'm proud :P )
- Some riddles
- Multiple endings

Here you'll find the items that have to be present for the contest:
(obviously spoiler allert ;D )

- Bloody smile
Can be seen randomly on floor walls
- Mysterious Present
I don't know if it's super mysterious... but the whole game is about a present no one knows what it actually is... xD

- A red balloon

Inside the janitors room
- Empty picture frames
In a special floor you will be teleported to by chance (but it should happen sometime during one playthrough)
- An old music box
This actually is the mysterois present ;D

Fixed some stuff

There were two slightly buggy events and a bunch of German leftovers and spelling errors. I fixed everything I found so far.
And because the whole game was more of an experiment for the Halloween event, I won't update it any more. (Unless there appears a mean gamebreaker or so ;) )

If you want to play more games, click my profile and try out the shiny new Ink Travellers version or my biggest project so far: Erayu.

See you ^o^/)

I played it! <3 it´s relly good and scary! omg :D that blank walls and music box got me XD i thought that some ghost will try to kill me, and Sean was walking so slowly and at the end of the hall even more :D i was scared omg... Thank you for your hard work! <3 i hope that you will make next game. ( im sorry for my english T__T )
Thanks! It's great to see that people enjoy the game, even though I think it's terrible. XD
The keys don't work i press on them but they don't seem to work, could you tell me what i should do
You have to press Shift to open the item-use menu.
I think that's the problem. :3
Thank you that did work, good game though you should definitely think of making something else
Yeah, I know. It's not my genre to make. xD
But it was a fun experiment for the contest. :D

You can play my other games instead. They are way better xD
This game won the Halloween contest, so of course I'm going to try it.

After finishing it, I think that in terms of how well it was made, this game is excellent. I thought had good atmosphere too. But in terms of overall spookiness, I felt it kinda fell short.

I was able to boldly walk through the school without fear of anything, because there was nothing in the school to be afraid of. The only way for me to get hurt or killed was by going to the roof.

And I think there may have been some translation problems, because in English there's a very big difference between what's on the computer screen and the information we need to solve the puzzle. So much so that I couldn't get any clues out of it, except that the vampire was involved in the solution somehow.

In fact, I kept trying "Pumpkin at the top, then ghost-bat-witch in some order, then vampire", because that's the order they appeared in the note.

If I were to leave a hint like that, I would write something more like this:

A girl met death, and he gave her a choice. Holding out his hands, he asked her to put her spirit in one, and her body in the other. Whichever she put in his right hand he would take, but she would keep that which she placed in the left.

"How can I choose between my spirit and my body?" She asked. "My spirit is who I am. But my body is one with my love, and I cannot live without him."

Death flashed a jack-o-lantern smile.

"If you cannot choose, then you must stay here until another chooses for you. To your left creatures will fly through the sky, but you will be unable to join them. To your right you will see your true self, carried by another."

And that was how she stayed.

And then I'd run it past a bunch of other people to make sure they could figure it out. But I'm not terribly good at picking up clues, so that's just me.

On that note, it wasn't clear to me what I was supposed to do in the game. It seemed like the main character gave up on finding an exit door key, but I wasn't sure what motivation was replacing it.

And I never found out what the metal key was for, even though I got the best ending.

Other than that, a well done game!
Thanks for the huge feedback. :3
I know there are some (many xD) flaws. And the story doesn't makes much sense... and that's simply cause I... didn't care about it at all till the very end. xD

Yeah, that's bad, I know. But my focus was on the experiment of creating a spooky atmosphere without using chasing dudes, insta-deaths or jumpscares. (Doesn't work, I know now xD)

The PC puzzle was another kind of experiment. I wanted to create a riddle like they were used in Silent Hill 3 (with riddle difficulty hard). The text is nearly the same in its original language... but... your text is very cool as well...

Well... I know myself and there will be this one day where I cannot longer resist and remake this damn thing... but... not today.
But for this day... I thank you and everyone for feedback. :3
I've looked everywhere and scanned the rooms I've opened several times... may I ask here the metal key goes??
