Brain Reconstructor is an RPG Adventure about a man who revealed his past life while reconstructing his own brain.

The Story

The story focusses on Andrew. Andrew was found unconscious without any identity. After several tests conducted by Doctor Amelia, Andrew was diagnosed with Brain Stem Death. His only chance to survive or maybe recovered is by joining an illegal procedure using a device called Brain Reconstructor. It turns out that in order to survive, Andrew must face his own dark past.

With Prof. Neil and Prof. Ahmed’s guide, Andrew reconstructs his brain by solving some puzzles. After each puzzle was solved, Andrew will regain his past memory. Amelia as Andrew’s medical doctor will always bully him as part of the joke.

The Game Play
The game mechanic of Brain Reconstructor is mainly a puzzle solving game. In the virtual world, the player needs to solve a puzzle to continue the progress of the story. The puzzle itself has some variants between push the box, catch the ghost, fight the ghost, invisible mode, fishing mode and many more variants of the puzzle.

The player can collect some memory points that act like a currency in the game. The memory points can be used to buy some items that can help Andrew solve the puzzle. The memory points also act as a key opener to open some locker and gain some items that can be used to solve the puzzle.

For each puzzle, there is a limit of the puzzle movements or in the game called Neuron Movement. The less movement created on a stage, the better the result will be. For each stage, there is some ideal movement. If the player can solve the puzzle with less movement than ideal the ideal movement, the player will get some bonus items. The best result is marked with three stars.

I'm very sorry for the late reply. I've never thought that I'll get a comment here. I've read your review and yeah, it is heartbreaking, but you are right. This game, until now, is too similar with To The Moon. Even though, it was inspired by To The Moon, I agree that it's not good to create something too similar to another game. I've realized my mistakes and I'll try to change the design of this game, but the feeling of the opening will still the same in this current version. Geez, I wish I'd read your review earlier. I guess, that'll be on my to do list in the next development process.

For the translation, it has got so many fixes in the grammar error. I have a translator now.

Thank you very much for your review.

Dear flakeheartnet, I'm sorry if my review has caused you heartbreak. I suppose I made one major error in writing it - not underlining the positives in your game. For what it's worth, here they are:

1. Excellent graphics.
2. Custom user interface, not the usual RTP / RPG Maker menu system
3. Smooth transitions and effects.
4. No unnecessary lag or slow controls despite the complexities involved.
5. Andrew's sister Sonia seems like an interesting character.

That being said, I'm glad you took my words in the spirit in which they were intended. This is all the more important because you're planning to make a commercial game. If this were a free fan-game or tribute, I wouldn't really be bothered - witness all the Final Fantasy and Yume Nikki fangames that gain accolades by the dozen in the RPG Maker community. But a commercial game is something that has to be original and distinctive (ideally, free games should work that way too, but this isn't an ideal world ^_^), otherwise it will simply get lost in the mix and dismissed by reviewers as "a To The Moon clone".

Good luck with your game! I look forward to seeing how it's going to progress from here, and I remain a subscriber.

This looks interesting. Should be fun to play as long as it isn't too much like To The Moon (which was a great story, but also a one-shot kind of proposition.) Subscribed.

ETA: Welp, this was a surprise (and not in a good way). I've posted a review. ^_^
