Remie's and Alana's Strawberry-Cake Magical Girl Adventure!

Long ago, a powerful witch named Xalimi made 48 Infernal Artifacts to help her corrupt the world. Xalimi was defeated, but the artifacts remain and, over the years, have gained minds of their own and still harbor the desire to see their master's dark plans fulfilled.

Remie and Alana are magical girl trainees tasked with hunting down one of these artifacts that is hiding in an abandoned mall. As they make their way, they'll discover not only their own magical powers but also their blossoming feelings for each other.

A game made for the 2016 Yuri Jam, by Uni, Oshun and Kloe! Yay! :D

Special thanks to Sooz, for the character designs and indoor mall sketches, MakioKuta for the title screen, Racheal for the title screen scripting, and JosephSeraph for additional animations! ^_^

(Also the twitter thing puts anything with #RemieAndAlana onto the thingy, so any cool screenshots you take, you can tweet and it goes on there!)

The Demo is Here! :D

Hello everyone! ^_^ unity here!

I'm super happy to announce that the demo is here and ready to play! Please give it a shot and let us know what you think! It's about 30 minutes to an hour in length.

Again, a huge thanks to Ocean and Kloe. You have both been just wonderful to work with, and thanks for being so helpful! I am so glad we got to work together! :DDDDD It's been a busy month but I'm so proud of the hard work we did! ^_^

Also big thanks to Sooz, who did an amazing job with the character designs (and with putting up with me working frantically on this all month XD) and Maki, for helping out with the title screen on such short notice, also Racheal who did the scripting for the title screen!

Thanks so much! Glad you enjoyed it, Professor! :DDDDD
While I haven't gotten far into the game yet, I could say that I never thought I still had a magical girl-shaped hole in me XD

Initial nitpicks are on the battle scene. The attack animations are too slow, in my opinion. They stutter visually, when they could have easily flowed smoothly. Minor, but kinda jarring for me.

The skill descriptions are fine, but I think adding a little colour-coding or icons to represent whether said skill is power or magic based would would make the whole thing more compact. Just a suggestion.

Looking forward to this game!

As for the speed of the battlers, I too find them a little slow. Unfortunately, the script I'm using doesn't have a way to speed them up.
I don't think I'll review this yet since there isn't anything to talk about but I do hope that's not the opening and are just cutting to the first dungeon because, like Miraculous Ladybug, I had no idea what was going on. Where did they get there powers? How do they work? Whats with the axolotls? It was fine when it got going but I couldn't shake those questions. I did like the whole warm cake and cold ice-cream thing.

Also, are we really gonna fight 48 artefacts or are some of them dealt with already?

They told me I was mad when I said I was going to create a spidertable. Who’s laughing now!!!

I remember watching Sailor Moon as a kid. And recently started watching Miraculous Ladybug.

Not really. I don't mind the combat system. I like the MAP Card system of swapping summons. And I like the idea of these artifact becoming super villains who can make an army on a whim. What my problem was that I had no idea what was happening and why.

The game was meant to be short; the demo was made for a month-long game jam. So rather than show the story of them becoming magical girls, I set the story after their training and dropped hints as to what came before. I felt this would help pacing and keep the game brisk.

From the game so far, you can extrapolate that Remie and Alana met magical beings who have given them powers and tasked them with stopping artifacts. No, you aren't meant to seal all 48 artifacts, this is meant to show that this game is but a small segment of a larger story, a larger world, and that there may be other magical girls also tracking and sealing artifacts.

I am sorry you found this method of storytelling confusing. However, as a player, I personally enjoy a story every now and then that doesn't explain everything up front and leaves some things to my imagination, and that's why I did things the way I did here.
Different taste for different people I guess. At least it just left me confused cause that just means it'll take me a while to get into it. It'll be worse if it left me angry or bored which thankfully it didn't.
