Hello everyone.

I'm afraid I have some unfortunate news. I'm being laid off from my job and will soon be unemployed. Without a steady source of income, I cannot afford to continue commissioning Jo for his beautiful tilesets and character sprites. On top of that, I was also hoping to hire a scripter in the future to add a bit of flair here and there, which will of course also cost money.

This project is a remake of my favorite game I ever attempted to make and is very dear to me, so I don't plan on giving up on it. If it comes down to it, I may try a Kickstarter someday down the line to fund the game.

Wonderful pic of Ceaira by JosephSeraph. Thanks so much, Jo!

For the meantime, however, I'm afraid the only thing I can do is put the game on hiatus until things hopefully improve. A huge thanks to each and every one of you that have been following the game so far, and to Jo and Sooz for such wonderful work. I won't let it go to waste! We will be back!

If you like what I do and would like to help support me as I continue making games, please consider supporting me on Patreon. Thank you all so much!

Thanks for everything so far, working on this project has been a bliss! Surely we'll get back into it when the circumstances allow!
It is unfortunate, but it's just a passing hardship. I really think you deserve be a game dev as your main job though, here's hoping for that day~ <3

Good luck on finding a new job! I'm so sorry this happened to you.
That sucks. :( Being unemployed is a huge stress in life. Good luck finding some steady work/income!
Even though that you’ve recently lost your job unity (which I’m really truly sorry for you and all), that doesn’t mean that you still can’t continue to work on this game in the meantime while you still look for a new one, right? I mean, I’m not sure how completely reliant you are on JosephSeraph and Sooz for assistance on this, but I’m sure you can still manage to do some things on the side until things manage to clear up for you, right? Or are you just mainly focusing on finding and getting a new job as soon as possible for now over everything else? Either way, it sucks that you’re putting this on hiatus, but, hey, you gotta do what you gotta do in the meantime to earn some money and earn a living, so I understand.

Good luck on finding a new job as soon as possible! Besides, I’m pretty sure that JosephSeraph won’t be scooped up by Square-Enix in the meantime and will still be around here, so you still got him for a little while when you’re ready to return to this, I bet.

The title made me think it was a bad pun, and go on to say that the game was going on haitus to bring Weird and Unfortunate Things things sooner. Which may still yet happen! However, I understand your reasoning for putting this aside, and pray your situation stabilizes soon!

Darigaaz, I still haven't played this. ;_;

Yeah, for now, I'm going to be spending most of my time trying to get another job. Also, I was working on this and Weird and Unfortunate at the same time, seeing as making assets for this game takes some time, and I could work on maps and such for this when I needed a break.

Until I get another job lined up, however, I think its best to spend any game-making time on Weird and Unfortunate and leave this on hiatus for the time being. I never like putting anything on hiatus, and its not ideal, but its probably for the best.

Haha, yeah, I realized it kinda might sound like that after I made the blog. Totally unintentional XD Thanks so much for the kind words and encouragement, Marrend!

Good luck! Find a job soon.
And I think that Kickstarter or Indiegogo may be a good idea for such a joyous project too. I believe that people will be willing to support a free game, if they see the passion behind it.

They told me I was mad when I said I was going to create a spidertable. Who’s laughing now!!!

Especially passion backed with multiple finished projects.
I know how it is to put a game you really want to make on the backburner. I hope Weird and Unfortunate is finished swift and efficiently so you can get back to working on this bundle of passion! Also, best of luck with employment. :(

Hey, better than it being cancelled, right? At least this way it gives us all a slight glimmer of hope that someday…someday this shall be completed... Besides, you have a much better track record when it comes to completing things around here compared to the rest of us - so I’m not too worried. You just go find yourself a good job!

(PS: I heard kentona's looking for someone to do some lawn work for him over the summer. I heard he likes to pay people in Pokémon Cards, if your interested, lol.)

I'm very sorry that this has happened to you, unity. You deserve to be treated better and have less worries in your life, that's for sure. But it also makes me happy to hear you're not going to let it get you down, and that you seem so determined to keep doing what you enjoy no matter what. And I'm confident that you'll be able to improve your situation again soon. Never give up, everyone is rooting for you!
Hey Uni, I just wanted to tell you to keep your head up. You're super cool, everyone in this project is cool, and the project itself is cool.

Setbacks happen, but I firmly believe that this is just that, a setback. Good luck, and I'll keep my eye on this!

I have it on good authority that there is at least one nerd involved.

Thank you both, very much! I'll keep my head up and keep moving forward, and hopefully one day this game will be a reality! ^_^
