Story...

The story begins in the end.

One year prior to the opening of the tale, a meteor called the Blood Comet fell upon the planet known as Gaia. The Comet's disruption of the inhabitants' lives stirred up War amongst themselves, and a series of events caused nearly all the cities of Gaia to perish.

In one of the last villages of humanity, a soldier named Kaori returns from a lost war. Deeply tormented by sorrow for the horrors she has witnessed, Kaori begins to seek the rumours of a walking skeleton in the northern village of Gomela, which rumours say, possesses an insurmountable ability to heal those wounded in the heart. Following her is a mysterious traveler and a monk, both unwilling to speak on their identities.

The three of them head up to the North together, and in the process meet the remaining forces, both good and evil, of this world. But the truth unveils, at last, when they find what they are looking for...and this forces the three main protagonists to separate, each coming to face their past in their own ways.

Overworld Map

Hello =) I originally had a bit of trouble deciding whether I wanted to parallax my world map or use the RTP (RTP looks boring, but parallaxing requires more scrutiny). I'm glad I discovered the mode-7 extension by...MGA?? I uploaded a test clip on YouTube. Looks fun =D

Also, 101 downloads...I'm so happy hehe hope you all enjoy =D

Controls are a bit sticky: trying to leave the menu screen can sometimes bring it back up.

Having shift be both run and skip dialogue is a bad idea. Is there an option to set it automatically on run?

Combat is really fast-paced. Will there be Wait Mode in the future?

Hello Cryum,

For the sticky menu--I just discovered that it can be fixed pretty easily. I will implement it soon, although the new keys will involve slightly more curvy controls. Nothin' out of the ergonomic zone!

It looks like your second sitch can be resolved by me either setting the character automatically to run or change the skip dialogue key to a different key other than shift. From what I have read it seems the former is preferable. I will keep that in mind for the next upload, which I will wait for awhile. In the meantime I hope it doesn't detract greatly with your overall experience :)

For the third sitch, I believe I can make all monsters slower in the beginning. However most encountered monsters should be able to be beaten easily regardless. If you're having trouble with the bosses here are some tips (>.<): for the jellyfish, stock up on Potions. If the battle is going badly for you, take a more defensive position and wait for your TP to fill up and use the Overdrive attack. Using it once or twice and the boss should be finished. With the Weakened Dragon it shouldn't be very difficult since the monk joins your party. For the first turn use a Fire Pearl on the Traveler with Kaori and then have the monk use Heal2. As long as the monk's on healing duty your party will be very safe, and if the Dragon uses Death Gaze you can counter it with another Fire Pearl or the monk's Overdrive ability Cloak.

It's pretty easy to draw up a wait mode from RGSS. In case I don't implement it, you can rest assured monster agility will be lowered in the beginning.

Thank you for your post <3 Sorry to blabber so much, happy new years :)

@DarkSakuraVII: Oh no, I won, just needed a second try. I mainly suggested the wait mode because it takes time for people to process a) What the monk guy does and how to effectively use his abilities, and b) that cloaked guy is dead and you need to revive him in such a way that he doesn't immediately die.

Also some crashing issues when the game tries to load music files that don't exist yet when entering certain areas. It's a demo, so whatever. As long as it gets easier to save often it's not a problem.
Hi Cryum,

That's great to hear. That makes even less work for me then if difficulty is alright (I hope you found it so). I will get the issues you mentioned fixed tonight. Will keep everyone posted, have a good one in the meantime ^^

In all fairness, bird shrapnel isn't as deadly as wood shrapnel

This game looks pretty good; the multiple stories thing reminds me of Dragon Quest 4. Giving this a shot, especially as I myself wanna try to make a post-apoc game. :3
