A curse has been cast upon the local village. Unfortunately, it has affected poor Ky, who has nothing to do with the curse. So of course, she must find the source, but so many people need help, and just what can she do? Well, she simply must help! From person to person, she goes. Of course, it's all optional. If she so pleases, she could go straight to the source of her trouble, but it's so hard to say no to the people. The wood cutter, the apothecary, the kitten enthusiast; so many people needing so much help.

For the Winterruption game event, I can assure you that there are no dragons, or trolls, or succubi, or any sort of whimsy in this game. It's quite as serious as you please, thank you very much. If you play the game straight through, I dare say that it might take as few as 5-10 minutes, but if you give the side quests your full attention, who knows how long you might be delayed, and that would be terribly inconvenient, would it not?

Removing some most inconvenient bugs.

So, during Libby's Winterruption stream, I noticed some very minor bugs, minor meaning they didn't break the game or the quests that they were found in.

  • The difficult picnic.
The picnic was activated by an event trigger. Unfortunately, I had failed to properly set passability in the area allowing players to pass it by. Fixed.
  • A most incorrect riddle.
One of the troll riddles was badly miss-worded, making it quite difficult to solve indeed. The error has been corrected.

This should handle all of the noticeable bugs, or at least the ones I noticed. I wish you all a most convenient day.

A strong contender for Best Title and Best Protagonist already, I think. Good luck with this project!
THIS GAME HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH DRAGONS. I ASSURE YOU!

Glad to have you watching <3 there's so much fun planned here. I am psyched to see the results.
…What the hell is this!?!?!? You mean to tell me that I get to play as a giant dragon walking around town and solving mysteries? Holy shit, man – are you guys high?

I might have to check this one out.

Why not?
But a dragon’s supposed to burn things and crush and eat livestock, not help people with their problems. That’s what the king is for.
That only means you have yet to expand your definition of dragon.
(which means .. you actually thought I'd be burning and crushing things all day long loitering around here?! I only do that on new year's eve!)

Also, amusingly, there is a dragon dating sim coming out in a few days : D

Historically speaking, I'm pretty sure most kings were actually way better at having houses burnt down, people crushed and livestock destroyed than at helping others with their problems.
Dragons, on the other hand, are horribly underappreciated. But really, they are the true heroes.

You mean our new year’s or Chinese new year? If it’s the latter, I don’t see no giant dragon anywhere destroying homes and burning down trees, since today’s Chinese new year. So where you be at, then?

Oh, gwd, no.

You know what, you’re probably right. They probably were all just really wise and intelligent creatures that just wanted to be left alone and humans killed them all off for their own selfish needs. (A**hole humans!)
I help with the fireworks is all.

And NeSi gets it hahaha.
Love ya guys.

Also, I totally look forward to that dragon dating sim. I played the demo and you could drink yourself under the table (literally) AND compliment the dragon's attractiveness in your drunken stupor.
I'm sold. (hatoful boyfriend was pretty fun too but mostly a joke haha)

It is kind of bitter sweet to be done with this.

Yeah, I really enjoyed making this game.

Hello, Euphonic >.>
Don't worry. Nobody can see through your clever disguise <.<
That tumble must have hurt! It was a nice little game ^.^
So happy I get to play this game as a part of my 2021 Secret Santa present for you! ^^ Once again, I enjoyed the writing and humor very, very much! :D

To anyone else reading this, here is the YouTube playthrough video I did: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GAYdRDAWL6k

Thank you! I hope you had a good Christmas!
This was probably one of my best collaborations. I realized while working on this I will still pretty wet behind the ears even if I had been working in RM for awhile at that point. It was probably the most fun I had in an event collaboration too!
NOTE: This is originally submitted as a review, but denied because it doesn't meet the requirements. To get things done, I want to at least post it here as a comment instead, also because I'm not sure I'm "able" to spend more time on stuff without feeling overwhelmed by the amount of unfinished stuff at this time.

2021 Secret Santa Review — A Most Inconvenient Evening
12/28/2021 07:23 AM (GMT +8) by kiyasu

Note: This review is one of the presents done for pianotm during the 2021 RMN Secret Santa event.

My initial impression of the game wasn’t that good but as I progressed further, I started to find this game fun and ended up enjoying it to the end. :D My favorite thing is the humor; it feels like my kind of thing and the kind of game I would smile through playing (which I kind of did). I laughed so hard at the last battle especially XD

Some of the things I found confusing were the water in the beginning cut scene, and I actually didn’t “notice” the change in my first play-through, so I was literally like, “What’s going on?” as I moved the insanely slow-moving dragon. There was also the NPC at the top left of the first map who I thought was impossible to talk to and then concluded I probably wasn’t supposed to interact with it, only until later on in the game I accidentally find out I could talk to her. Then there was the map with the “mole”-like thing that I was not so sure what was going on, or whether it was it was because of a bug I constantly ran into (check the A Most Inconvenient Evening - Full Playthrough video for my playthrough details).

Also, the cave holes on the mountain are all supposed to be empty? And ha, the riddle was so hard for me and I wondered if it was kind of “required” for people to refer to your guide for all the answers XD

I think the movement of the dragon is too slow, and wished there was a “Dash” key to hold on to at the least. I wished the text could be fast-forwarded too, especially when talking to someone with the same dialogue going on.

Anyway, other than the above things, I really enjoyed this game. It’s the writing that really sticks out, and of course, THAT scene where Kylaila the dragon “kicks” the scarecrow(?) thing out to hit the player’s screen XD I laughed so hard at it And yes, the last boss… XD It’s also interesting you used custom art for cut scene moments and I thought it was really cool to do for a VX Ace game :D Very interesting art!! ^^

So yes, I would recommend this game. I felt as though the writing is “my thing” as well; something I really enjoy, the kind of things I would like to write myself. :D

Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it! Also, Cthulhu smacking into the screen is one of my favorite jokes I created for the game!
