This game was made in a month for the Winterruption event.

After being discharged from the King's army and demoted to a Town Guard, what more is there for a Main Character to do?

Quite a lot, it turns out. In a small town surrounded by walls, sidequests from distraught villagers abound, such as:
- "Help me find my cat!"
- "Get rid of the bats in my attic!"
- "Bring me the Chaos Emerald, Destroyer of Worlds. I swear I won't do anything with it."
- "Oh no! Some dude is rampaging around the town holding the Chaos Emerald, Destroyer of Worlds. Hero, please take him down!"

Help soothe the villagers' worries, and bring peace to the town! Just make sure you don't accidentally destroy the place in the process...

More things are planned

This game is far from complete. There's much more I want to add-- backstory, more characters, more quests.

The current download can only be considered a preview of what's to come.
Sadly due to daylight saving time stuffs this game wasn't submitted properly to Winterruption, but it was made for that event.

More things are definitely to come!

This looks like fun. I have to admit the title screen with the smug expression on the main character's face alone was already enough to make me curious. I'm looking forward to seeing how this game turns out. Best of luck!
<3 You made it.

(yes I count game dev more important than event page haha) Good job!

"Bring me the Chaos Emerald, Destroyer of Worlds. I swear I won't do anything with it."

instantly made me laugh!

I have to play your game now.
Playing it, loving every second so far.

I love the "DO NO HARM" medal of "honor", for one!
Umm there was a bug, the Fizzy Soda and White Rice were switch. When I bought the Soda, the quest counted it as the Rice.

@KitoruK1 Whoops, thanks for letting me know! That will be fixed in a later update.
Nice little game to distract oneself.... but... I got a question:

Is the "hero" the demon lord (he didn't want to go BACK to the castle), or did he kill him? His mother gave him away because she couldn't handle him - demons often are said to have trouble hanndling their stronger ones which often either rise to the top or are some hidden lazzy elements, or is he simply a overpowered young human that destroyed the economy by slaying the demon lord? I mean... the war with the demon lord is often the only thing keeping those loose alliances together, with that threat gone the humans would easily turn against themselves and to avoid him beeing used he sent him away and made sure to seal his extreme power (by giving him a medal that weakens him and decreases max MP by ~85-95% (didn't do the math) so that his overpowered skills would not effect the surroundings if someone tried to kill him or even turned him around? If we are at that, is the access not authorized to the northern parts, exactly to make sure he doesn't come back? There is way to much unknown to guess at the actual reason, and I may be reading to much into a comedy game, but.... it strikes me weird to employ such a strong guard in a backwater village because he sure as hell wasn't there for the prince (he didn't know he was there) tough that may just have been a plot, saying HE protects the prince while he doesn't know to protect him.... though it strikes me weird to disrupt his studies, but it may just be temporary but even than.... argh whatever! Nevermind that the demon king castle is around the corner so.... it wouldn't be that save.... if any are still alive that is. What the heck did he do?! Burn the capital with his firestorm doing his job of getting rid of demon spawn that attacked? (If yes than I feel sorry for them...) Well I may still get the answer as I still have 3 quests left somwhere but I can't help but wonder since I can't find those three quests...

The question: Is the "hero" more than he seems?

Interesting analysis! There is a deeper story (that I'm currently working on) behind it all, and some of the stuff you said is nearly spot-on.

The game in its current form is supposed to have *just* enough information to piece together a story. For a list of some of the clues, you can check out a reply I made to Irog's review.

Now, to answer your (more specific) speculation:
>> Is the "hero" the demon lord (he didn't want to go BACK to the castle), or did he kill him?

Given that the main character served in the King's Corps against some threat or another, it's unlikely that he would be the demon lord himself. The player can assume that his division was part of an operation to kill the demon king.

>> Is he simply a overpowered young human that destroyed the economy by slaying the demon lord? I mean... the war with the demon lord is often the only thing keeping those loose alliances together, with that threat gone the humans would easily turn against themselves and to avoid him beeing used he sent him away and made sure to seal his extreme power...?

The game seems to never mention any other countries other than the current kingdom, and so there is currently no evidence of any warring going on between the humans themselves.

>> If we are at that, is the access not authorized to the northern parts, exactly to make sure he doesn't come back?

That thing was actually due to timing constraints-- I didn't have the time to finish any other maps (and thus all the locked doors and closed off areas). If you attempt to access the mountain the "System" stops you-- that is, the game itself-- because that area is incomplete ("area not available").

>> It strikes me weird to employ such a strong guard in a backwater village because he sure as hell wasn't there for the prince (he didn't know he was there) tough that may just have been a plot, saying HE protects the prince while he doesn't know to protect him.... Nevermind that the demon king castle is around the corner so.... it wouldn't be that save.... if any are still alive that is.

The King left the prince there because the King thought the prince would be safe, because if such an OP guard was there surely nothing bad would happen. As the Demon King has already been defeated, the castle is empty and not a threat.

>> What the heck did he do?! Burn the capital with his firestorm doing his job of getting rid of demon spawn that attacked? (If yes than I feel sorry for them...)

That is actually a very good guess. The answer to that is "yes, pretty much something like that". With his OP AOE magic, the main character's bound to have accidentally shot off some "friendly fire" on the battlefield. The intended realization here is that the King, unable to put him to good use in the army, sent him off to some remote town to be a guard.

>> Well I may still get the answer as I still have 3 quests left somwhere but I can't help but wonder since I can't find those three quests...

Some of the quests present in this game are actually just filler quests since this game was made for a contest that had a "10 quests" requirement. If you've already talked to all the people you've likely already seen all the worthwhile quests. The rest are just "you stumbled across a random thing! Quest complete!" kinds of stuff.

Answer to some of your responses:

>Given that the main character served in the King's Corps against some threat or another, it's unlikely that he would be the demon lord himself. The player can assume that his division was part of an operation to kill the demon king.

Yes to be fair, it was my main trail of thought, but the part about not going back and his OP powers + the kings medaillon made me think of other possibilities such as him beeing a former demon king. (and several other ideas)

>The game seems to never mention any other countries other than the current kingdom, and so there is currently no evidence of any warring going on between the humans themselves.

It doesn't, but it doesn't mention much to begin with. Also a war can be fought within a country itself as well. Many power hungry "fools" are often to be found within ones own ranks. Nevermind if there are any economical factors that may have been blamed on the deceased demon king. (Many houses are closed, the MC's old house is pretty much a ruin.... thought it was a hint at a though economical situation that was not resolved by merely killing the demon king.)

>The King left the prince there because the King thought the prince would be safe, because if such an OP guard was there surely nothing bad would happen. As the Demon King has already been defeated, the castle is empty and not a threat.

Are we talking about the same guard that gave the emerald weapon to a highly suspicious character? The same guard that had friendly fire going on? I wouldn't take the risk without at least telling said guard. He should have an idea about his character at least.

That explains the rock. That one was really random. XD

Fire-based ability in the hands of the hero always has a high tendency to backfire! Please don't tel Lya.

Is that a reference? >_>
Not yet!

The game currently is a gameplay demo (where fire is your first spell). I had planned to include a backfire event in the story using the fire spell. So it was funny to see that mjshi uses a fire-based ability in a similar way. As this is not implemented yet, Lya doesn't know about it.
