Made for the 2017 Winterruption Event!

You are *Insert Name Here*, the newest agent at the Absolute Peak Guild. Most of their other agents have moved on to the new continent so they need someone competent to do all the quests and solve problems of the citizens of the fair land of Lasna.

Find an old man down a well, help a vampire clear monsters from his estate, escort a prince and his bodyguard knight, find treasures in ancient tombs, and prepare for the coming of a great evil from the depths of the ocean. Also, there is a main quest about saving the King's daughter from the evil Lord Nemera, but no one cares about that.

Featuring quickly-drawn doodle maps (a couple of which that were recycled from Last Minute Gift because time and stuff >.>)

Special Thanks to kentona for coming up with the name of the game! :DDDDD

Officially beat the game. Beat the optional boss at 17, and then leveled up to 18 after beating the main quest. Enjoyed the game overall, although I saw a couple typo's at the end. I don't know if you want to reupload just for that (especially since you just reuploaded twice to fix those game breakers i ran into). Just in case: one of maxwells lines (the healer in the guild), has maxxed instead of maxed. Also at the end when talking to the king partner is typo'd as partnr.

Edit: Vallie says oh carp in the beginning of the game, but I'd almost leave that in for the humor of it. I went back on a new file just so I could see what happens if you die during the main quest. I'm pretty content on stopping here for now, but may try a higher difficulty in the future (played on normal and breezed through it effortlessly)

Thanks a lot! :D I'll fix those typos and re-upload tomorrow. "Oh carp" was on purpose, as Vallie's just a weirdo XD

Thanks again, and thanks for being patient with me with those bugs! ^_^
wow i know uni is good but even still she manages to surprise me
the laidback atmosphere, cute original washed out/pastel graphics, good gameplay, soundtrack choice, this just is being so great so far and i just beat the second quest. I'm having a blast~ <3

I played this game and it was ADORABLE. My only real complaint is that it's bound by contest woes (limited time, conditions to fulfill) and there wasn't much in the way of story.
Game took me 4 and a half hours on easy at 100% completion on. LP pending approval '3'

I have written a review. I very much enjoyed the game. It should be up in a couple of days.
Short review
Dungeon crawler based on interesting concept of dealing with diffrent team on each quest. The need to find balance stop game from being boring. Also this is one of those cool games that you almost don t need to use items because you can just guard to regen mp/tp. Weird but cool graphics will keep you around just to see what kind of strange looking stuff is ahead. Not game of the year but certainly solid rpg entertaiment. Also not too long but you should not hold it against this game.

Thanks, zenla! ^_^
Its pretty good. The art is as lovely as the art from Last Minute Gift and I liked most of the dungeon design, though I felt the tombs felt the same after a while.

While I didn't mind the guild framing device and the little stories they told, I thought the characters were dull.

Awww. I was hoping they'd be simple but kinda endearing.

I was working under a tight deadline (until I missed the deadline XD;;;) and my characters for event and contest games tend to be poorer and less complex. I'll work harder to make future characters more interesting.

Yeah, you mentioned that in you super dungeon credits. They weren't bad, just dull and unmemorable. I did like the Castle and Marsh characters and while I though the Price and the Knight were pretty bland, their ending was sweet. And for Clark's brother, I wanted to smack the jerk. Everyone else didn't leave much of an impression on me.

But like you said, you were doing this for a contest and there's only so much you could do with that little time. Even if you missed it. It was still a nice collection of dungeons.

Long RPG. Well made game, but it does get a bit formulaic. Dungeons have different themes but are mechanically very similar. Difficulty is well balanced as I expected, from playing last minute gift I knew the dev will ramp up difficulty later on, so I picked the normal difficulty. Think I died at least 1-2 times, once to ivan because I didnt expect status spam and maybe another one to a random encounter when I was trying to escape but it never succeeded. So the difficulty is mostly appropriate. I'm not hardcore anyway, so that's good for me.

I recommend this game to anyone who's interested in standard RPG's.
~ Short Review ~

Time spent:
6h30m

Gameplay:
I beat the game on Impossible difficulty, which is somewhat easier than the name suggests. I only ended up using a few revive thingies and status cures, and used none of the permanent stat boosts.

Level grinding is mind-numbingly boring (but somewhat expected at that difficulty), but the last three bosses were interesting enough that the game as a whole felt rewarding.

Spell variety is pretty good. I like the variance you get from different guests. I also like the consistent rate at which you learn useful new spells. However, compared to Obelisk: Devilkiller (the gold standard in RPGMaker spell variety, in my opinion) this is not close.

Music/SFX:
It works. Nothing really stands out, good or bad.

Artwork:
Charmingly amateurish. Very cute. Unique. Refreshing.

Story:
Trivial, but that's not why you're playing this.

Suggestions:
- Auto-unequip everything from guests, not just accessories, at quest end. "Great, there goes my $2,000 sword."
- Sell this game on Steam for $4.99. Polish it up a bit, replace the copyrighted music, add a couple quests, and you're good to go. Right now, as it is, it's better than 90% of the crap in the Steam RPG section at that price.

Thank you very much! :DDDDDD

I agree with your points, and I should probably replay Obelisk: Devilkiller and take notes on skills. Craze always does such amazing things with them ^_^

As for the Steam idea, it certainly is tempting. There will be a future release of the game, as JosephSeraph is making custom facesets for it, but I don't know if we'll go with Steam or not.

Thanks again! ^_^
Obelisk uses a League of Legends style 4-skills-on-varying-cooldowns character construction. It's a very different style of game built for OCD min-maxers when it comes to party customization. I don't think this game should go too far in that direction.

I don't see the downside of going with Steam. It looks like a better and more consistent revenue option than Patreon. What are your thoughts?

Oh no, I agree 100% about your thoughts on Steam, and have been wanting to try to get games on there. I guess my hesitation is that I made this game for a contest (even though I went over the deadline XD) and I had kinda expected my first Steam release to be something bigger and more like a traditional RPG.

Beggars can't be choosers, however, so maybe I'm being silly? I suppose I could hire someone to do a few battle themes and then look for public domain or creative commons for the rest of the music, and offer Jo a cut of profits from sales. It's a lot to think of and could definitely work, I guess its just not how I'd envisioned my foray onto Steam starting, if that makes any sense?
I totally understand where you're coming from.

Starting small has some advantages, like being able to take more risks and not being too depressed if it fails to sell. And if it does sell, you complete the psychological "did work -> got paid" feedback loop, making it a lot easier to complete every future project.

There are very few games on RMN that I think would make good Steam games. What makes sense about this one:
- Unique, attractive background art style.
- A sense of "what you see is what you get." The visuals suggest "lighthearted JRPG" and the game is a well-paced, complete lighthearted JRPG.
- A play time of ~5 hours, which matches gamer minimum expectations of ~$1/hour if priced at $4.99.
- I found zero bugs. (But I did find a typo near the beginning...I forgot where it was.)

Whatever you decide, best of luck.
a random free rpgmaker game on steam, made by what i assume was a kid, that used sample maps and very poor pacing, with a bunch of cobbled scripts and kaduki sprites, gets positive overall reviews from steam. Really, there is NO reason not to try putting something up there.

OH, and it was unfinished and getting sporadic updates that add like maybe 1 town and 1 extra area.

And theres also paid DLC's.

Yes.
I kind of like the idea I won't lie I was thinking of making a game and a typical fantasy setting just about a normal. And the nature of a guildsman careers from apprenticeship to mastership. Maybe they go for higher offices in the guild and maybe in the city government. With the Ultimate go to retire as a gentleman to a country estate.
