"I thought I was ready for my first solo assignment, but I'm so nervous..."

You are a fledgling Spirit Agent - a professional occultist working for the Imperial government. Reports of unusual events occurring in a small merchant town have reached the capital where you have been training, and you are sent on your first real mission: investigate, identify the source of the spiritual activity, and deal with the situation to the best of your abilities.

Will you succeed? With only a few days to complete your mission, will you take the time to help the townspeople?

Features:

  • Time and calendar:
Time only passes when you do specific things, but all actions - from exploring to talking - require time! As you use your skills, the time required to execute them will decrease.

  • Knowledge and conversation:
Ask people about specific topics, accumulate knowledge that will help you in your mission. All information that you gather will be stored in your inventory!

  • Several endings:
Your superiors will evaluate how well you perform. Completing the primary mission is your priority - but the more you're able to accomplish, the better your evaluation will be! Try to exceed expectations - but don't run out of time, or you will fail!

(Started out as an entry for the Winterruption event)

Status Update

While I have not finished this game in time to qualify as an entry to the Winterruption event, I will continue working on it. I could of course take this opportunity to expand the scope of the game, but I am not going to - the goal is to use my current inertia to finish this as quickly as possible, and properly start my main project (which I have been conceptualising on and off these past couple of months). I do like the premise of Spirit Agent, though, and I may revisit it at a later time with a fully fledged story and maybe custom graphics.

The game is in good shape - all the systems are working, half of the side quests are fully done, the rest are in the process of being evented. I also need to fix a few parallax graphic bugs, replace some placeholders with properly written text and dialogue, balance time costs, and do some more testing along the way to see that everything works.

With this in mind, I am aiming at releasing a playable version by the end of the month. So stay tuned until then!

Thank you for your interest and support!

Whoaaaaaaaaaaaaa those gameplay mechanics are a lot to promise. If you deliver, that's the stuff dreams are made of.

It sounds nice. I'm quite sure I'll try this out.

And damn the town looks foggy. Is it 19th century London?

It's a real confidence booster to see interest in one's concept! Thank you! :D
This game will be rough around the edges, as I lack the time to really polish it before the event deadline. But I'm using it as a testing ground for mechanics I'm developing for my main project. :)

Haha, yes, the fog is a bit oppressing, isn't it? :) It's my way of representing the heavy miasma of spiritual energy that is enveloping the town!

Thank you so much for your support! :D It does sometimes feel like I've bitten more than I can chew for this event. xD But I'm still on schedule so far. :D
The story seems really interesting and the mapping is very well done too! I will surely play this when it comes out! Keep going with the good job ;)
