Game: The World Is Doomed and it's All Because of You

Developers: Luiishu535, Kylaila, and Gredge109

Story: This was made for the Winterruption event, so expect sidequests. The world is doomed and it's all because of you. Yeah, that's pretty much the case, and the world has basically been doomed for years. So, every day you haul your worthless, failure of an ass out of bed wondering what you should do with it. Today, you have an idea! You should atone by trying to help people out. Good luck with that.

Well, it was either this or "Loser"...

Gameplay: The game is divided into zones. Get from one zone to another by taking the bus. Basically, you're walking into people's businesses, or places of residence soliciting help. Once you accept the quests, they become very frustrating. There's a reason for it, but telling you why they're frustrating would spoil the joke, so I won't. I'll just say that the fact that they're frustrating isn't a bad thing. Although, if you don't get the joke, you may not entirely appreciate that.

Goodness professor, whatever does it do? My guess is, "Nothing."
The rocks at the bottom of the screen also seem slightly lewd.
Perhaps it's just me.

Suffice it to say, you're going to have an overall miserable time with this. Find out how many people you can get to hate you, or how many you can help out. It has multiple endings, but they're all headscratchers. Playing the game seems to be the point, but there doesn't seem to be a lot of thought put into the endings of the game.

Graphics: Uses RTP and custom graphics to excellent effect. The maps feel populated even though the developers didn't have a great deal of time to make this game.

Music: These probably weren't the best choices for the game. Some RTP, and I am told some custom. As always, your mileage may vary, but I was compelled to remove my headphones for some of these tracks, lest I stabbed my ears out.

Glitches: NPCs departing the screen often miss the door by a tile. In fact, the archeologist is the only one that hit the mark that I could find. In the Outskirts, if you try to go to Residential, it says you're already there. I check every little thing, so I'm sure there's more.

Conclusion: It's nothing memorable but if you use this game to kill half an hour...you'll totally be doing something more interesting than if you weren't playing anything at all. It takes a fair stab at nihilist humor, but could use a bit more polish and thought. I give it a 2.5.

Good overview! Thanks for putting up a review. (I'm technically not a dev, since I didn't contribute to anything tangible in the build, so I am random person n tester, hello~)

Only .. uh RTP? I am not sure if you are joking since it's a little over-the-top. It is a mixture (as shown in the screen above) but has a lot of custom assets, as well as custom music (and since you can't see those on screens do mention it)

Oh, thanks. I fixed that.
Thanks for the review, dude! I appreciate the feedback. Concerning the RTP, the only assets that aren't custom are the characters (except the frog, the old man and the yellow build man), the gate seen in the screenshot and the sound effects. As a matter of fact, all of the music is custom.

I had to switch my position later during the event, which is the main reason why a lot of assets (especially the music) weren't able to be finished and polished in time.

Do you think it's worth it to improve/add to the game, or would it be wiser to spend the time and effort elsewhere?

Oh, so everything's custom? I don't really spend a lot of time with with MV, but I knew all the characters were RTP except frog archeologist.

It's up to you to improve it but given the overall nature of the game, and the joke it's telling, I think it's fine the way it is.
Except for the stuff I mentioned. All sprites were supposed to be custom, but I can't bring much light on that subject ATM.

The main morale of the story is that peoples' overall reliance on a "hero" that fixes everything isn't always going to work out. The reason why the world has been destroyed is because the people were too lazy and uncertain to act on their own.

I personally thought the concept felt fresh and unique, but I guess that alone isn't enough of to make a game worthwhile in the end.
